Virtually the only CP in Derby.
Located thru town towards the wharf, yet fairly close to shops & hospital etc
Good reception and welcome.
Prices are a little steep at $55pn for p&w ..one person though !
Sites are fairly large and well spaced out - good access for larger rigs
Good that each site is clearly numbered boundaries defined.
Sites are mainly red dirt or gravel, but a few have slabs
Reasonable amount of grass around amenities blocks and plenty of trees/shade around entire park
Amenities blocks are clean and well serviced, even have background music playing as you sit on the loo !
Washing machines available - $4 per load
Entire property is well fenced and fairly secure from wandering 'locals'
Overall, probably one of the better CP's in the Kimberley Region..

Negatives:
1. Caretakers German Shepherd dog barks a lot and appears somewhat aggressive .. be careful !
2. No vehicle washdown bay
3. No clear parking area for arrivals while in office -
4. Roadways around park could do with a good sweeping and tidy up

We were pleasently surprised that Kimberley Entrance CP in Derby is a well shaded CP with good sized sites, newly renovated Ablutions & ample rubbish bins throughout.
with Friendly service. Power & good water but no wi-fi and no grey water drains. Bitumised road circuit and has 2 'dump points'

Check in so easy with Jodie, and Ann being so helpful and friendly. Nice sites with slabs on many. After our last stay Fitzroy Crossing, we found the ammenities second to none we have come across since we started caravanning. We understood the problems of maintaining a pool and their reasons for not having one. Their camp kitchen is small but clean and functional with plenty of seating. LPG bottle refills on site were very handy.

Toilets and showers really clean. 3 out of 8 washing machines not working. Had to wait all day to do washing. Booked and paid for a drive through site and on arrival was told rudely that they don't give them out even though there were some laying empty. There was no greeting from the receptionists on booking in. They have a monopoly as they are the only CP in town. Would not want to stay again.

We understand that the park cannot control there neighbors but when you request to be in a specific location, which was vacant and they stick you in the front corner which is tight for a 24 foot van. Friday night music till 10 pm and then door bashing till 1 am apparently his wife locked him out of the house. Saturday night music started 7pm and finished at 9.39 am the next day. Cars broken into. What people don't realize is how dangerous it is to drive sleep deprived and you don't get any sleep at this park

I am not sure what our expectations were but we were very happy with the look of this park. We had booked ahead and the service was very friendly and when we walked in to take up our booking the service was just as friendly. We like our site which was easy to back into and the sites are a good size. We are here for four nights and I think we have made a good stop.

We enjoyed our 7 day stay. Clean shady park, friendly helpful staff, piped music in newish ablution blocks.

Derby is great to visit for 1 Boab Prison Tree, waterhole and bath; 2 the dinner boab for a great picnic at sunset; 3 derby wharf tidal flows a cool spot at sunset, 4 sunset viewing from the mudflats (dry season) contuining on for an hour or so of stargazing 5 pick up for overnight tour to Horizontal Falls sea plane and fast boat ride.
We loved Derby.

Have been here for almost two weeks and Derby has left its mark in a beautiful way. The town is not modern but has a quaint outback town feel where we felt welcome and the town folk are willing to share their history and hospitality. There is still a lot to check out here besides the obvious Horizontal Falls and being the start of the Gibb River Road. The jetty is great to check out at both low and high tides. Ride a bike or car on the mud flats. Check out the cool metal sculptures care of Mark Norval (whose local gallery is a must see) and the Derby High School students. Also don't forget the Prison Boab Tree, the Pioneer Cemetary, the old gaol (very sad history) as well as the Leprosorium and of course a good cheap meal at the Golf club Sportsman's bar. There is more besides all that. Management here is top class. Friendly, helpful and clean facilities. Like a lot of other towns in the top end there are issues with car theft from the caravan parks. However, everyone who stays here is advised both written and verbally, "do NOT leave your car keys on tables, outside or even the spare set just inside the door." Listen to that advise and you will be fine. We hope to return one day.

Nice facility. Good showers, toilets, washing machines, etc. be prepared for a sleepless night though. We were sleeping in pop up tents and hardly slept all night. People outside the caravan park were partying and carrying on. Loud music, swearing, dogs howling endlessly until after 6am. We decided to cut our two night stay short and seek somewhere quieter but disappointingly the caravan park wouldn’t refund the unused night saying that it happens from time to time.

Stayed a few days in very hot conditions, really shady with 2 Brolgas in the park. Excellent newly refurbished ablutions, nice water and very clean. Walking distance to three restaurants, pubs, supermarket, swimming pool, bakery and really nice cafe within 150m. Top spot in the north west.
