I enjoyed our stay and would stay here again. We had two rooms, both were clean and inviting. The balconies on the river were wonderful, it was very peaceful to hear the water and watch the ducks and trout. There was a huge heron fishing one morning. Be aware that you are facing a campground so no privacy. I really didnt find this terribly bothersome, I angled my chair towards the wooded side just beyond the motel and actually enjoyed watching everyone fish. The front desk and cleaning staff were very polite and helpful. You are within walking distance of several restaurants and tourist shops. We stayed in rooms 102 and 103. Both were nice but 102 has a better view and rocking chairs on porch. No breakfast but beside a donut place with coffee. Rooms lacked a microwave though there was one available in the lobby. The lobby was inaccessible on Sunday night didn't pay attention test of our stay. There were pod coffeemakers in each room and nice refrigerators. Showers had lots of pressure and copious hot water.

This is a really well kept motel. It had good furnishings, very clean and in good repair. Not a modern place but cared for and it showed. We loved being on the river, it was so peaceful and beautiful. It is in a good location in town, easy access to all the main attractions and easy driving into the park. We were glad we stayed here.

This hotel was great for the money! It is old-school style, but updated and super comfortable! The lady at the front desk was super nice and helpful and parking was right next to the hotel! The balcony over the river was so nice to have! Our kids loved feeding the ducks! I was afraid it was going to be noisy since it was so close to the road, but we did not hear any traffic once we were in for the night! I definitely recommend this hotel!

I was a little nervous about renting a motel instead of a hotel, but the reviews won me over. And I was very, very glad I took the chance! It is right by the road, but once you close the door, all is quiet. The soundproofing is great. And, it had the expected refrigerator and coffee maker, comfortable beds, etc. But, best of all, your balcony literally is right over a lazy little river. The sound at night is soothing. In the afternoon, you can watch as people on innertubes float lazily by. (Smokey Mountain Innertubes, just down the street. Don't miss it!) Plenty of restaurants within walking distance, plenty of cute shops. Cherokee Museum is nearby. Casino is about 10 minutes by car. Yes, it is not as sparky as a fancy hotel. It is right on the road, and across the road is indeed an abandoned lot. (I never felt unsafe for a moment). If you want a five star hotel with a mint on your pillow, you'll be disappointed. You'll need to go reserve one (and pay double or triple). But if you want a nice, cozy place to rest and call home base, here ya go.

Stayed one night before our white water rafting. Close to the Cherokee Casino if that matters to you. Haven't had stayed in a motel in 25 years since I was in college, so was a little bit nervous but all others were sold out so didn't have a lot of choice. To my surprise and I still don't understand why this one did not sold out, it was a great place. Pros: -Nice, friendly staff -Clean & Spacious room -Lovely balcony over the river, perfect for morning coffee -Convenient location -Drinks vending machine takes credit cards and had a fair price of $1.50. Cons: - A little bit damp bedsheets (probably because it is over the river.) - Three different bugs. We killed a creepy long one, capture and released a harmless looking one and let a lady bug stay in. I don't think that is a bad for the motel. We are in the nature after all. - This is not a Con for the motel also. I booked it at Bookings.com and for the exact room and PP, River's Edge Motel website had a lower rate and free cancelation. I found that out exactly five minutes later (I was in panic because everything was sold out.) but couldn't cancel at Bookings.com. So if you are making the reservation somewhere else, at least check theirs first.
