Located just half and hour from Lisbon, a few minutes from the beach and having stunning scenery within the grounds, this is the perfect place for a group retreat. The owners and staff are exceptional multilingual hosts and make the place feel like home.
This little paradise is located on other side of the river from Lisbon. This makes it near the wonderful beaches of Caparica but also near enough to the city with the bus/train/car. We found it only by recommendation from friends. The Quinta (loosely translated from "Farm") in traditional Portuguese colors and styles is often visited by university students and professors working on something or another related to the gardens/fields belonging to the Quinta. If you travel with kids, you will benefit from this nature and love the many child friendly animals the owners keep (ponies, dogs, chickens, goats etc.). It's not a streamlined and polished luxury SPA Hotel, but is a location full of charm, character and nature with unbeatable value for money. Our Kids played hours outside while we were relaxing in the courtyard. Although we enjoyed the beach, the kids loved the Quinta more. The service was excellent and the owners are a very friendly and helpful family. They gave us tips for Lisbon, cared about our well being and organized little events like pizza making and fireplace in the courtyard. The Quinta is not very big so we always felt like staying with a very nice family in a wonderful and original place.…
I went to the Quinta for an undergraduate field course and had a fantastic time. The surrounding areas of the Quinta are beautiful and very well kept, and Benjamin and Inza are very welcoming people. It's not too far from Lisbon as well and would be a great place to unwind after a day in the city! Definitely recommend…
Coming back from Lisbon to the Quinta (after a long day of sightseeing) feels like coming back to the "lost paradise". Lemon, orange and fig trees expect you in the wonderful spacious garden, where shady places invite you to rest. My daughter attended, at the nearby beach (to be reached by car or bus), surfing lessons, while we were able to use these undisturbed moments for taking walks at the endless white beaches of Caparica. Insa showed my daughter how to feed the chickens, the goats, the dogs and how to find the fresh eggs (the chickens like to hide them) for breakfast. Armin showed us around the garden and was able to name and explain every plant in the garden. From the Quinta you can walk into a small village where you can buy wonderful fresh fruit (there was also fresh fruit from the Quinta in our room when we arrived) or have dinner/lunch in one of the restaurants (no tourist restaurants- delicious and inexpensive food). We'll be back!…
We've stayed at the Quinta every year for more than 20 years for our undergraduate field course. It's always been a beautiful and peaceful spot, with loads of wildlife for the students to study, and excellent accommodation/facilities for our group, and now Benjamin has arrived things have got even better! After a hard day's work, nothing can compare with an evening on the veranda with a cold beer and a few olives... (note: although we visit as a large group for work purposes, it's such a wonderful spot that many of us have brought our famililes along, and it would make an excellent holiday venue for couples/families who want to explore the beaches, countryside and the sights of Lisbon)…
