Let’s begin with a warning or the bad news:
We got a watch stolen/lost from our room, management contacted everyone of their staff straight away but regardless left us with a bad taste, so my warning will be to be very careful of your items especially if they are expensive.
Having said that, we had a great time. Tho quiet and secluded hotel it’s great to getaway and disconnect from the world. It’s a bit expensive keeping in mind that being so secluded the only option for food is what they offer. We stayed 3days and I think was the perfect time as the pool and little hiking trails don’t offer much further than that.
Top on my list was the service as was incredibly brilliant and the quality of the food everything was grown there and greatly cooked but of course that comes with a price.
Overall good stay.

The bumpy road in will give you a good indication of how remote this location will feel. It is a great place to totally disconnect and relax. The staff are very friendly. The location is stunning. The property has been beautifully restored and is charming. The meals were beautifully prepared and offered plenty of variety.
Our only issue was during our stay the meals were all served on the terrace where patrons are free to smoke - this is very off putting if you are not a smoker. In fact, it seems patrons are free to smoke anywhere on the property, so even while enjoying the fresh air and sunshine poolside, in what should be a natural environment, we had smokers nearby.

In the Tower the Sistine marble and the humble mud, the living stone, the cypress and the olive and almond trees, among blue mountains welcome you. It is enormous merit to get the Traveler at home to sit from the first hour. Winery, library and a hundred corners where you can find sunshine in such a hurry, between subtle pipes. Detail is taken care of as before: wine, sustenance and rest have tinges of wiser and more exquisite times, more accurate. And above all there is silence, and the prudent and very discreet work of those who care carefully for soul and body. Calling the Visco "hotel" is at best. I arrived tired; I march again.

Wonderful place for its views and tranquility. Extensive 90ha estate between olive and pine trees. Old tower with extensions consistent with the original architecture. Classical landscaping and gardening in style and settled.
Very quiet and disconnection. Good food and excellent breakfast. Attentive and agile staff.
However, it does not deserve the category of Relais & Chateaux. The experience that this seal must guarantee has too many gaps in La Torre del Visco.
Access to 5.5 km of dirt and gravel track is unacceptable and not suitable for any vehicle of a certain standard. It takes about 20 minutes to get around bumps if you don’t want to spoil any vehicle and tires. Not to mention the dust. Also in Google the location is the start of the road...
The hotel is now 30 years old, its bathrooms are antique and with old-fashioned decor, cold and stylish dining room, basic furniture , without tablecloths in meals and without the essential details of a Relais & Chateaux. Few menu options, offering us to choose the dishes we want but then charging the total menu. The service is variable...we were not offered to take the bags to the cars despite the multiple stairs and corridors.
We're not coming back.

It is not the first time I go to La Torre del Visco and I have already written other reviews but every time I go to this secluded hotel that has nothing to do with what the crowded summer tourism of this country offers, I leave completely renewed, in the line of the reviews that other travelers have experienced.
We start with the "astronomy" part. This time I went on the occasion of the Perseids, the shower of shooting stars of August, and that in the Tower organize for all guests. Personally I take care of making a presentation at the library of the event and then we do deep sky telescopic observation. Persiedas can be seen with the naked eye from an especially dark place such as La Torre del Visco, a Starlight-certified hotel. The attendees of the talk were very interested with the explanations I gave and very curious when we visualized the Moon and some clusters with the telescope.
And now the gastronomic part. As always, second to none. I love how early they suggest which wines can accompany each dish. The list of details would be very neat for quality. I highlight this time a dinner in which they served an eggplant cream (babaganoush) adorned with flowers and then a beef entrecot that could be cut like butter. Anyway...

Our stay at La Torre del Visco was an extraordinary experience that exceeded all expectations. This rural retreat offers a perfect blend of luxury, exceptional cuisine, and breathtaking natural beauty.
The hospitality at La Torre del Visco was truly outstanding, with Markus leading the way in ensuring our stay was nothing short of perfect. His attentiveness and genuine care set the tone for our entire visit, making us feel completely at home.
The culinary offerings were a highlight of our stay. What impressed us most was the use of fresh, local ingredients, many of which were grown in the hotel's own garden.
Our first night's dinner at the chef's table in the kitchen was unforgettable. Discussing each meticulously prepared dish with the chef provided fascinating insights and was undoubtedly one of the best moments of our week in Spain.
Our junior suite was spacious and comfortable, featuring a separate sitting room with a couch in addition to the bedroom and bathroom. This extra space added to the feeling of luxury and relaxation.
The hotel's commitment to showcasing the best of the region extended beyond its walls. They organized an exceptional wine tasting experience for us, arranging transportation to a local winery 45 minutes away. The winery tour was outstanding, adding another layer to our appreciation of the area's rich culinary traditions.
The surrounding landscape is simply stunning, with beautiful mountain views in every direction. We took advantage of this natural beauty by embarking on a 30-45 minute hike to an immense, breathtaking dried waterfall - an experience we highly recommend to fellow travelers.
La Torre del Visco truly embodies the concept of a 'home away from home', but elevated to new heights of luxury and gastronomy. Whether you're seeking relaxation, culinary adventures, or exploration of the beautiful Spanish countryside, this hotel offers it all. Our stay here was the undisputed highlight of our trip to Spain, and we're already dreaming of our return visit.

We have spent three days in Torre del Visco again. It's been many years since we came the first time. It is still a trip to a small paradise.
It's like returning to the house of some lifelong friends. It is a pleasure to meet again with an exceptional and completely trustworthy team.
Everyone makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive. The rooms are super comfortable, spacious and each one has its own personality. If you like to read in the room, tell me and they will prepare your own reading corner. Seriously, it's like staying at a friends house.
The Tower's cuisine is exceptional. From breakfast on the terrace to dinner, watching the sunset, everything is designed so that you can enjoy the surroundings, the landscape and the products from their garden.
The Torre del Visco is to go... and stay: spend time reading, listening to music, walking or riding a (mountain) bike... The pool is away from the hotel and is a quiet place, perfect for reading or lying down. a nap.
The Matarranya landscape is beautiful and very personal. Marta or Jemma can explain the most interesting routes: from El Salt del Río Tastavins, which can be walked in a couple of hours (round trip) to the excursions to Fuentespalda or Ráfales that will take half a day. If you go in summer, take plenty of water!
Despite the kilometers of track, which are easily covered by car once you get to know it, the Tower is also a perfect place as a hub for exploring the Mararraya and Bajo Aragón.
Of course... to get there, don't rely too much on Google Maps! This summer, out of curiosity, we have consulted it and it is evident that they have never been there :-) The recommended route is to take the detour from the road from Valderrobles to Fuentespalda.

I loved the hotel. The people are friendly and make sure you are at ease. However we were in a very low sports car and suffered the 5 km road to get there. They should warn and go if they can in another type of car. The fact that there's no TV didn't matter to me, but to my companion. The gastronomic offer is scarce but very rich and I have seen it too expensive. Breakfast is spectacular, served in the kitchen or wherever you want, but it is a real wonder.
What I liked the least was the decor of the junior suite. It was old-fashioned and cold. And the shower leaked through the screen onto the bathroom floor... those details didn't please me. The surroundings cannot be more beautiful and pleasant. Ideal for disconnecting a few days.

We were recommended this hotel by some great friends who ‘found this gem’ last year . .. We had just had 2 hectic days touring and sightseeing in Barcelona so were ready for a quiet 3-day break.
The 3-hour drive to get there showed us how good the Spanish roads were compared to what we suffer in the UK and the last 4KM of dirt track descending to the Hotel was certainly interesting.
The staff in the Hotel were excellent from the moment we arrived. Our room was very comfortable and the views spectacular and what a delight not to hear or see a TV!.. The Wi-Fi was good so we were able to keep abreast of all the shocking news away from the tranquillity of La Torre del Visco.
The food is rich but excellent, so be prepared for a semi set menu of great cooking.
We loved our stay and loved the peace and quiet.
Jemma Markham who owns this ‘gem’ of a Hotel and is also a very special person and very helpful..She has a very interesting story…. She leads a great team..
The one fault that my wife came up with was the hardness of the lungers by the pool!!.. Uncomfortable..
Thanks for a great stay..

Dinner on the Torre del Visco terrace on a cool summer's evening (not so many of them this August!) overlooking the the valley and the sun setting over rugged hills behind is always an annual pleasure. The quality of the food, wine and the experience is gauranteed by the high standards of Jemma Markham and her great team.
