A luxury, eco-friendly camp located in Uganda's Queen Elizabeth National Park - famous for its tree climbing lions. It is an idyllic retreat for people who truly enjoy the wilderness. Being within the park the wildlife is free to also pass through the camp and elephants can be seen bathing in the river, buffalo enjoy grazing and resident troops of Black-and-White Colobus and vervet monkeys are frequently viewed.
Accommodation in the middle of nowhere and close to nature. This means that the Queen Elizbeth National Park can be experienced in its beautiful lights at any time of day. We were woken up by elephants feeding right next to our tent. The tents are very well equipped. The food was excellent and the staff very courteous.

We spent two nights here and wish it was longer. The Camp is beautifully laid out along the river with great views from everywhere. We were in one of the double tents farther away from the main area so had lots of wildlife around us. The first afternoon we were there the vervet and colobus monkeys were having a bit of a kerfuffle over who would get to play on a metal platform behind our tent (the colobus won). We sat outside our tent and watched them play and eat until it was time to leave for our afternoon game drive. Our last morning in camp the baboons were jumping all over our roof before heading over to another tent. We could also hear the wildlife chatting after dark which was fun to hear. The camp isn't fenced so you need to be escorted after dark, but it's such a treat to have the wildlife nearby. The Camp's central location also means great wildlife sightings on game drives. Our tent was very spacious and comfortable. More than enough room to spread out and relax. The bathroom is huge with lots of space to store toiletries and towels. One caution - the hot water on the shower is a bit tricky so be patient, if you turn it too hot you will get very hot water and if you turn it too cold the heater shuts off and you get cold water. The main area is lovely with a nice view of the river. The food is delicious and there is lots of it. Finally, every member of the staff is superb-warm, friendly, welcoming, helpful. I hope I get the opportunity to stay here again.…

An unforgettable stay from start to finish - and given we started by being greeted with a buffalo grazing just outside our porch that is high praise indeed. The food here was some of the best I have eaten anywhere in the world, let alone in the middle of the African bush. Similarly, the service here was better than some 5* hotels I've stayed in across the globe. The manager of the hotel exuded a positive energy that just immediately made you feel comfortable, and his staff were dedicated to providing a good experience.

We (a late 60s couple) had a great time at this lovely tented camp along the Ntungwe River (I think). Lots of birds and animals with hippos frolicking in the river just outside our tent overnight. The tent was spacious and comfortable and private. The dining area and bar were well appointed and comfortable with lots of monkeys (they were not a problem) and birds and the riverside close by for a nice happy hour view. The staff were excellent, the food very good and the location great. I will definitely go back to the Ishasha Wilderness Lodge in the future. This section of QENP is loaded with animals so a game drive can yield excellent sightings.

Of all the lodges we stayed in in Uganda this was my favorite by far! I would go back just to stay here as it is a unique experience where you feel like you are camping but have all the luxury amenities. The food was delicious- the breakfast buffet was gorgeous- I feel there were so many local and thoughtful touches throughout the property. The staff were gracious and warm. A definite MUST when visiting Ishasha, Uganda!

We had the best time in this beautiful camp, the atmosphere is perfect. The staff is really friendly and helpfull and ofcourse nature is so beautiful! We spent our 28th wedding day here and organised a sundowner, which was brilliant! The only downside was the shower, but with all the beautiful surroundings who cares!

Great location (buffalo in front of the tent in the morning), excellent food and very good staff. The tents are well furnished and clean. The public toilet is remarkable. Best view in the bush. And finally breakfast in the bush. Outstanding service. The park is awesome as well.

From our two-night stay in late September I think the stand-out feature for us was the professionalism and polish of the management and staff. A luxury tented camp in the middle of a national park is a unique experience and it was hugely fun of course. The tents are well designed, comfortable, private, and now have gas-heated hot water. Also nice little touches like some detergent and a small washing line in the bathroom - while perhaps not terribly exciting, it is terribly practical and useful. All in all, it does what it says on the tin: it's a luxury tented camp in a national park and they deliver the experience while keeping guests safe, comfortable and very well fed. The running of the camp and the services provided seemed to be very much a team effort and there was good communication among the staff. We personally want to thank whoever it may have been who had the wisdom to include tipping guidance (as to amounts) as well as clearly stating camp policy on the subject in the guest handbook. Of all the lodges we stayed at during our trip, Ishasha was the only one to do this and we hugely appreciated it. A special commendation to Gabriel and his fantastic team (from the gate to the kitchen to guest services to the grounds) : the level of service and the professionalism with which it is delivered makes a stay at Ishasha truly memorable. …

These were tents with "bucket showers" and while we thought we might have to "rough it"a bit, it was a wonderful and delightful stay! The staff was so gracious and warm and willing to bring as many buckets as we needed for a good shower. The food was outstanding! I would stay here any time!

Ishasha Wilderness Camp truly is a hidden gem. With no other camp in the southern area of Queen Elizabeth National Park, remoteness and exclusivity are a relief from the crowds up north. There are 6 elegant and spacious tents with a picturesque river view. Elephants in camp twice during our one night stay were a special treat. The team have prepared us a sundowner at a beautiful spot on top of a hill. I also have to mentioned we probably had the best food I ever had in a camp in Africa, better than all the camps I’ve been to in Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia or Botswana. The reason we went to Ishasha was to look for tree climbing lion. Following some research it seemed that was the area where this behaviour was observed most often. However, wildlife was not as abundant as expected and we did not see any predators other than a hyena during our sundowner. We did only stay for one night and March probably isn’t the best time of the year for wildlife density, those reasons together affected our experience significantly. Our stay at Ishasha was so pleasent that none of us cared about missing out on the cats. I highly suggest to include this camp in any itinerary in Uganda.…
