A luxury, eco-friendly camp located in Uganda's Queen Elizabeth National Park - famous for its tree climbing lions. It is an idyllic retreat for people who truly enjoy the wilderness. Being within the park the wildlife is free to also pass through the camp and elephants can be seen bathing in the river, buffalo enjoy grazing and resident troops of Black-and-White Colobus and vervet monkeys are frequently viewed.

This place is buried in the rain forest but with space created by its river aspect. A hippo was resdient in the rushing river, and complemented by elephants and buffalo in the grounds while we were there. The staff are very pleasant and attentive (including bush breakfast and sundowner on the bluff 20 min away - we watched hyenas and a pair of mongoose), and the food good (four course dinner with S African house wines). The individal accommodation huts overlook the river with private terraces, and have spacious bathrooms (but bucket shower on request if you want hot water). Our lodge (number 6) was only a short walk from the main lodge, but anyway at night all transfers are escorted. Two obvious game drives (N and S loops) begin no distance away, but the tree-climbing lions may be more remote than these. Security is taken seriously (DRC is very close), but there have been no problems in the last decade I understand - you may see members of the Uganda army close to the camp. Approach roads whether from the north part of Q Elizabeth park (3 h) or Kihili (1.5 h) have serviously dgraded sections.

The lodge is on the river side of a river in which elephants and other wild animals come to drink, this means that you can see them from your tent as they are placed in front of the riverside. The tents are very big, beautiful and very nicely decorated, including all the commodities. The location is in the centre of Ishasha Wilderness Camp, surrounded by nothing else but nature and loads of wildlife fauna such as: monkeys, hornbills, hypos and others. Food is exquisite, they even prepared lunchboxes for us which were the best lunchboxes we ever had on our trip. However, the best part of our stay was thanks to the staff who were very charming, aware and kind. If you are reading this, we send your our best wishes from Barcelona, to Karim and the rest of the guys.

I absolutely loved my stay at Ishasha Wilderness Camp - the only negative thing I have to say is that I only stayed for one night. I wish I could have stayed for longer. The staff were fantastic, very friendly, helpful and passionate about making a good impression on the guests. I was greeted with a fresh juice and wet hand towel when I arrived and shown to my gorgeous tent. I loved that I had a view to the outside from every corner of the bedroom. The room was spacious and the bed was enormous. You can tell that the owners are doing all they can to make the camp sustainable, from providing fresh drinking water (not plastic bottles) to the beautiful bath products. I particularly enjoyed the hot shower which was hot water delivered to my room! The food was fantastic (four courses... definitely didn't go hungry!) but the standout was the Sundowner that my guide had arranged for me. The Ishasha team set up a bar on top of an escarpment with an incredible view at sunset. They had thought of everything - books on animals and birds so I could look up any wildlife I saw, an array of beverages, snacks, even a toilet! The whole experience of staying at Ishasha was incredible, and I hope that I can return again one day soon!

Calling this a camp doesn’t do it justice; this is truly glamping. Our tent had a huge bathroom and the wonderful staff brought hot water whenever we wanted to shower. From our front porch overlooking the river we saw elephants, water buffaloes, colobus monkeys, and amazing birds including kingfishers. We didn’t catch the hippos in the river during the day, but heard them at night! It was amazing to be in the park. We were able to depart for safaris early before sunrise and had sundowners on a cliff overlooking the park. The staff was amazing and they made a cake and threw a birthday party for my wife. It was a wonderful stay inside the park!

Coming from South Africa, my family has been spoilt with the highest quality 5-star Safari experiences. Ishasha Wilderness Camp exceeded many of these. It is a hidden gem and deserves all the praise it gets. With exceptional hospitality, stunning rooms overlooking the river, an ideal location close to the tree-climbing lions, this place gets my full support and praise. I hope to return many times.

Such rustic luxury alongside the banks of a river where the buffalo come to wallow during the day. The permanent tents make you feel as if you are one with nature and the lack of fencing and the need for escort to your room incase you come across a hippo makes the experience even more real. We loved the bush showers and the effort that goes into maintaining that level of luxury so far away from main cities. The lodge is within Queen Elizabeth National Park which means that no time is wasted on driving to the park as you are right there. It really is a beautiful park with stunning views. The tree climbing lions were a special treat for us as was the large elephant herd we saw. Our trip was cut short due to Covid regulations changing back home but all staff were amazing in jumping into action to help us get back home as quickly as possible. Would 100% visit again!

I fell in love with this place the moment we arrived! The lodge is in the heart of the national park which offers you the advantage of getting up at sunrise to go on safari and see the animals before anyone else arrives. The rooms are located on the banks of the river so don’t be surprised if you hear wildlife outside your lodge in the early hours. The rooms are simple but perfect for your stay and very spacious. The staff are truly outstanding and could not do enough to make our stay a great experience. The food was outstanding! Hats off to the chef. On our final evening the lodge had secretly set up tables, chairs and even a mobile toilet for sundowners out on the savannah. The views were breathtaking and I can honestly say we were shocked beyond belief and will never forget this magical experience. We WILL be back next year for sure! Thank you

We only had one night at this lodge but it was a wonderful one. We were finishing a game drive and Michael and Jacques had prepared a wonderful sundowner for the guests with an amazing view. Perfect start.

As we arrived at the lodge the thing we noticed was that no detail was missed. From the nice walkways to the tent to the carpeted tent to the hot bush shower in the morning, everything was spot on. Our only other Safari lodge vacation was in South Africa and this one felt more “buttoned up” than some of the other lodges we’ve been at in Uganda so far.

Michael was right on top of my CPAP needs (unlike the previous lodge where I couldn’t use CPAP) and it was much appreciated.

Very good breakfast with friendly staff and great views of the river.

They made us feel totally safe at all times on the game drive and at the lodge if you are at all worried!

Keep up the great work and thanks again.

Wow, this place was something else. A luxury camp in the middle of Queen Elizabeth Park felt just like heaven. The rooms were very nicely decorated with big, comfy beds where you can see the river from. The bathroom was spacious, clean, and with all the products you could need during your stay. Even though you have to ask for water before the shower, they'll bring it in a few minutes and it's hot, plenty to have a decent shower (if you need to wash your hair, ask for 2 buckets).
Breakfast was a very complete buffet, lunch, and dinner delicious. The staff was super friendly and trying to make everything in order for you to have the best time. They will coordinate one of the best sundowners I've ever had and the fire next to the river with the sounds of the hippos would be waiting for when you come back after the game drive. Having a drink next to the fire under the stars was unvelievable.
The lounge area has nice sofas where you can chill, rest, read or take a nap while hearing the birds, and the best part? Sleeping as if you were in the middle of the most amazing nature's orchestra. Loved it.

Even before we arrived at the Ishasha wilderness park our driver Moses spotted two lions lying on a thick tree branch overhanging the road. From then on there was no shortage of encounters with all sorts of animals - a huge herd of elephants, buffaloes, hippos, tree lions, a leopard, exotic birds, a hyena, wart hogs and several species of antelope. Ishasha as a location delivered the goods.
The camp itself is perfectly located next to a river. The lodge is comfortable and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Of special mention is the food, which was prepared by two chefs in sparkling clean white uniforms. At night they usually light a camp fire, but unfortunately they could not do this during our stay due to the rain. However, on the second day our tour operator had arranged a "sundowner" in the field which was absolutely lovely. We drove to a scenic view of the vast gorge where we sat following the sunset while sipping mixed drinks and snacking on finger food. A portable toilet was even provided for our comfort.
At Ishasha it is not permitted to off track without permission, and therefore it can be difficult to get close to some animals. It may be helpful to hire a park ranger to come along on the game drive since they may provide the permission if possible.
