Selous Impala Camp has just 8 en suite tents of which 2 are family tents with two tents on one platform, each with own bathroom. There are ceiling fans and power showers all run from solar energy. Game drives are in 4x4 vehicles with driver and guide, and we put max 4 people in a car. Boat safaris are on the Rufiji River and the lakes coming off it; walking safaris in season. The camp is closed from end March to end May each year for the long rains. There is a swimming pool and a shady lodge with dining and sitting rooms and a bar overlooking the river.
The best accommodation we had on our 3 weeks trip in Tanzania. Tents are spacious, clean, with all the amenities. Food is of incredible quality and flavour. Local guides are knowledgeable and patient. All the personnel working at the camp, including the wonderful Masai guards are such warm and kind people. We were taken care of as if we were part of the family. An amazing location on the Rufiji river. Romantic, secluded, unforgettable! Don’t miss out on the boat and walking safaris. Both are a must and were highlights for our time in Tanzania

A beyond magical and luxurious experience. Giraffes wander through the camp alongside the tents, and the wait staff at dinner keeps a watchful eye to shoo away bush babies. The ensuite tents are beautiful, private, and comfortable, with a lovely breeze moving through at night. All the food is delicious—the best of our entire time in Tanzania—and in addition to 3 meals a day, seemingly every excursion involves snacks. Go out in a vehicle or take a beautiful boat ride—guides communicate with each otehr around the park to make sure you never miss a lion or a baby elephant. The entire staff greets you, and wishes you farewell. I've never been treated like such a celebrity before in my life. The price is a lot more than camps outside the park, because of the additional daily park fee, but if you can swing it for even one night, it's absolutely worth it.…

During our safari we spent 5 days at this amazing and beautiful camp. Every morning you wake-up with all the animal sounds around you and a fantastic view over the river. The food was varied and very tasty. The staff are super friendly and always cheerful and the service is great. Again we would like to thank the whole staff of the Impala Camp. Asante sana !! The camp was very comfortable, with good food and full amenities. I was travelling with my mum, who has a few disability issues, and the staff were incredibly patient and accommodating of her needs, and very concerned with her safety. The guide who took us out on safari was particularly attentive, eager to tailor each day's journey to our specific requirements. I'd never done a safari before, but this was an experience I will treasure for years to come.

WoW is the only word that can describe the Selous Impala lodge camp , from arrival and pick up at the tiny mtemere gate airstrip where we where blessed to meet Godli probably one of the best game guide/driver who guided us through the entire journey in the park to the welcoming on the camp by the entire smiling and service oriented staff , you understand immediately that this Is the place to be for an unforgettable moment , thank you Victor and entire F&B staff for the amazing service , thanks to the chef for the delicious food served and not only amazing for a bush resort but just delicious for all the meals regardless of the challenges of the location , thanks to Masai for keeping us safe from and to the amazing spacious and comfortable tented room with private bathroom and amazing view on the river where elephants , crocs , hypos and buffalos come and greet you at any moment of the day and night . I can only recommend the lodge and am so happy we chose for the south regions instead of the north parks , thanks to David and the management for their dedication making this an unforgettable moment , thanks also to #Asanterra agency and especially #Peggy to make it happen for us in such a short notice . …

This wasn’t just the best Safari holiday I’ve been on, it was the best holiday full stop. The staff at Selous Impala are the warmest, friendliest, most caring staff I’ve experienced, and our Safari guide Ezra is worth his weight in gold - this isn’t just a job for him, he loves what he does and it shows. Thanks to his affiliation with the bush we got to experience far more than I expected, including a lion AND a hyena kill. Our son (10) absolutely loved it, he has some special memories. I cannot recommend Impala Bush Camp highly enough.

Selous Impala exceeded all expectations. The hospitality, friendly staff, superb food and great service. The family room tent was luxurious and huge, we didn’t want to leave… Then there was Ezra, our wonderful guide with an abundant knowledge of the wildlife. Thank you to all the team at Selous Impala. We will start saving for our return.

The Selous Impala camp team and Gody (Godlisten), our guide, were all just amazing - do not hesitate to book! The camp has had new owners since Covid and they are keen to take comments on board and make changes where needed, but we couldn't think of anything! We had 4 amazing nights at Selous Impala camp and from the time we were greeted by Gody at the airstrip, to the time he waved our flight off, it felt like a personalised exclusive experience. The super friendly camp team waved us off and welcomed us back from each drive/ trip and there is nothing we would change! We had been warned by friends who had gone on a few safaris that there is a lot of waiting around in the day inbetween drives but this was not the case for us, each day was packed! We saw so much and Gody had great knowledge and an amazing eye! As we stayed 4 nights, each day was planned to go to a different area or with an aim of seeing different wildlife. So much thought and personalisation went into making our stay here truly special. We are a family of 4 (kids 17&19) and were in tents 2 and 3 and had a great view of the river with elephants and buffalo when we arrived. The tents were stylish and well set up with everything needed and curtains on each window area if preferred but it was so private we only pulled those in the dressing area when it was dark. We spent very little time in camp and saw much more then we ever hoped! Points to highlight: - we had a dedicated guide and jeep for our family of 4 (2 tents). I understand this is standard, whether you book as an individual or a group, you will have your own guide/ jeep. This suited us perfectly as in a shared jeep we may have had to compromise with time spent in certain areas! - really tasty refreshing chilled water provided in refillable flasks for each drive and in the tent. - dirty laundry was collected from tent each morning and returned later that evening, such an amazing free service. We packed way too many clothes not realising clothes would be returned the same day! - truly great food (whether in camp or eating in the bush) and lovely restaurant manager. Take his warning about the bush babies and bread rolls at dinner time seriously :) - before dinner we had a catch up with our guide to discuss our preferences for next day plans (whether to have an early set off at 0630 and have breakfast in the bush or have breakfast at camp and later start; full or half day drive, boat trip). Our preference was an early start and breakfast in the bush - highly recommend this! - WiFi at communal areas and walkie talkie provided for each tent to call for the Masai bodyguard when moving around the camp. We chose a different channel to keep in touch with our boys in the tent next door. - great, clean swimming pool with loungers in both sun and shade and a hammock. We only had one day where we came back for luch and had time to relax by the pool and cool off before our 4pm drive. I think the pool has been refurbed recently as it looks different to the photo. - there are a couple of family tents, either 2 seperate tents on the same raised platform or a massive one tent with partial dividing screen seperating 2 areas, each with seperate bathroom areas. - tent bathrooms were very well kitted out with 2 sinks and refillable shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion. I loved it and saw the brand store when leaving Zanzibar Stonetown. If I'd known, I'd have bought some for home! If you are going to Stonetown, let me know if you can fit any in your return luggage 😁. Only once were we with other jeeps and it gave me an insight into why heading to the more popular north is not for us. We loved the fact we rarely passed another car and that was only on the main road which we were rarely on. We spoke to someone in our camp who has gone to a different location every year for the past 15y for his safaris and he said both the camp and Selous were very special. For us 4 nights was perfect as gave us the time to seek out the lesser seen animals on the last day. Seeing the tight schedule and tick list type drives the day trippers need to follow to get their flights out was so not for us. Asante sana Selous Impala camp team for the lasting memories! …

Impala camp in Selous is a well managed camp with the added bonus of a swimming pool! We visited in July with 4 children aged between 9 -16 years and had the great fortune of having the very large , well proportioned safari tent that slept all 6 of us with 2 bathrooms. As you have to be escorted to and from your tent anywhere else in the camp (the pool, to breakfast etc) you had to make a jungle ‘call” which in our case meant the children shouting at the top of their voices“ Jambo, Masai, Tent 8” to which our Masai guide (bodyguard?) would come and walk us to wherever we needed to be. Have to say the day the elephant was in the camp I was super super grateful for him ! The food was amazing and breakfast looking out over wilderbeast in the savannah was a very special morning. Our fantastic guide Ezra really listened to what we wanted to do and was great at uncovering wildlife. Despite the children being nervous about the hippos on the boat safari ( darn you tiktok!) they actually loved seeing them up close. Highly recommend Impala camp. …

This is the perfect base for a safari! We were so impressed by the whole experience. The staff are so attentive, nothing was a problem. We availed of game drive, boat and fishing safari. Our fantastic guide Elias was a wealth of knowledge, we learned so much about the animals, birds, insects and plants. On our boat safari we saw two elephants playing in the river, it was incredible! There are plenty of giraffes, hippos, elephants and impalas to see and it’s a bird lovers paradise too. The facilities at the camp are fantastic. The tents are spacious and clean, with very comfortable beds. The food was fantastic too. The bush babies are very entertaining at dinner time! Victor was a brilliant waiter, and catered to our every need. We all felt very safe throughout our stay, thanks to Elias and our Masai Joey. The Tanzanians are so welcoming and friendly and we totally recommend visiting their wonderful Country and especially the Selous Impala Camp. Thank you all for such a wonderful experience. We can’t wait to come back.…
