Rufiji River Camp enjoys an enviable location high up on the banks of the Great Rufiji River. Spectacular sunsets are chorused by hippos grunting and a plethora of bird song. Selous Game Reserve is dominated by the Great and Sprawling Rufiji River, so what better place to stay than right along the banks.

I and my partner spent two nights and three days in the Rufiji River Camp in late December, 2020. We enjoyed all the activities that the Camp offered - road safari, boat safari, and walking safari very much thanks to the kind and passionate Camp team - Joseph, Edward, Howly, and Isac. Also, every meal in the Camp was amazing, which I have missed so much till now. The tent was spacious, clean, and cozy nestled in trees and bushes where we could enjoy the real nature and from river view. Also, from the balcony of the tent we could see small animals moving around such as Mongooses. I would like to appreciate the Camp team for their smooth management and kind care for us. Hope that we could visit here again.

I recommend this place if you plan to visit Selous game reserve. Tents are clean, comfortable with a big terrace. Food was good. They usually have buffets but we were few guests due to COVID and so it was served to table. One lunch in the bush, amazing experience. I really would like to point out the efforts done to make you feel at home ( thank you Joseph) and the quality of our guides Edward and Aouli who were communicating a lot to share their knowledge and experience. Boat safari was great to be close to hippos and crocodiles and we saw many many birds. The park is huge and there is a lot of water. If you like nature and safaris I definitely recommend the lodge and the park. Take into consideration that at this season climate is really hot and humid. Not always easy to

My husband and me spent two wonderful days in this Camp at the end of February. Everything was much better than our expectations. The Team und their kindness will always remain in our heart. The Service was excellent, both in the camp and in excursions. We saw many animals among which: zebras, giraffes, lions, hippos, crocodiles, elephants ... They also gave us a surprising room upgrade and a free bottle of wine for our honeymoon. We can only recommend this place! All the best, Sara and René

The Tanzanian Government seems to have sacrificed the reserve on the altar of national economic gain. A hydroelectric dam is being built at Steiglitz Gorge that will impact the reserve and its wetlands significantly in the long term. In the short term, wide strips of land have and are being cleared and populated with concrete pylons. An unpleasant addition to the scenery, not conducive to promoting a natural reserve for safaris. Camp owners in the Selous Game Reserve must face an uncertain future. That said, the lodge provided good service and an excellent guide in Elliah (apologies for any mispelling).

Although not our first safari (we have been on multiple safaris in southern Africa) it was our first safari in Tanzania. Recommended by our travel agent we decided to visit the unspoilt southern part of the country - and boy, am I glad we went by his recommendation. We visited two of the Foxes camps and can't reccommend them highly enough. But let me start at the beginning. After a short and smooth flight from Dar (about 30 minutes) on the companys own airline, we landed in Selous. From above we got a first glance of the impressive Rufiji River, the biggest river in Tanzania, and got excited to explore these mighty waters by boat. We were greeted at the airstrip by our driver Hassani who turned out to be an exceptionally knowledgable and humorous guide. There was never a dull

We went on our second Tanzanian Safari in August, but our first to the southern parks. We spent the first half of this visit on part of the northern safari circuit, then drove south in the land cruiser with a new guide for the southern parks. Selous Game Reserve was the main reason we decided to visit the “south,” and we spent the last three nights of our safari at Rufiji River Camp. Having just stayed at Ruaha River Lodge and Vuma Hills Camp, both Fox properties, we had high expectations for Rufiji River Camp. We were warmly greeted on arrival, with fresh juice as is the custom. After checkin and introductions, we were escorted to our spacious tent overlooking the Rufiji River. The “tent” was on a platform, with a large deck and multiple sitting areas, and two “doors”- one the

Having returned with a Sundance Spirit group of 28 where we took Rufiji River Camp exclusively it is worthy of stating that every single one of our guests lofty expectations were by far & away exceeded - this is a safari camp which has perfect location, large spacious guest canvas tented accommodation, each with a private (solid wall) bathroom, huge shower area, flush loo, double his n hers basins, ample piping hot water & the particular one we were allocated had its own plunge pool. Rufiji during our stay was managed by a young lady names Stephie, who was vastly more savvy & worldly wise than her tender age; she will go far up the ladder in the safari profession as she is delightfully hospitable, attentive, proactive, swift to act of guest requests & seemingly was always a

Staff were very good and helpful, and knowledgeable when on the safari The jeeps were the best and very comfortable. The experience was out of this world. Been on other safaris but would say this one was the most memorable. Would recommend to friends and family.

Our first safari and not knowing what to expect we were told about the Rufiji Rover Camp and how personal and friendly the set up and staff were. We arrived by plane from Dar es Salaam on a 30min flight and met at the runway by our Guide, Hassan. We arrived to a warm welcome at reception, checked in and were taken to our accommodation which looked out over the Rufiji river. Amazing views. The team had arranged a safari drive before lunch for us and this was just the perfect start to an amazing experience. Food is good as three meals a day are nutritional and tasty and should cater for most tastes. Surroundings are very picturesque and being in the wild with the noises of animals in so close is an experience we will never forgot. In the camp we were visited by several animal

We spent 4 days here in August and had an amazing time. Having never been on safari before, we didn't know what to expect. The location is beautiful. We had a family suite, 2 tents joined by decking and a plunge pool. The accommodation is comfortable and spacious. The staff were lovely and the food was always good and plentiful. Our guide, Wasiri, was really knowledgable and made the holiday extra special. We had some amazing game viewing and he was a massive hit with all 3 children. Thank you!
