Set high on a rocky kopje overlooking a landscape dotted with spiky palms and bulbous baobabs, Jabali Ridge is a sophisticated base from which to explore Ruaha National Park. The remarkable beauty of Ruaha is not only in the landscape and its diversity of flora and fauna, or the impressive big game, but in the feeling of having the wilderness all to yourself.

This was our first stay at an Asilia property and we were extremely pleased. At this level, it is not easy to distinguish yourself from your competitors. But in the arms race of luxury safari camps, Asilia – and Jabali Ridge especially – is very well equipped indeed. The standards of hospitality, guiding and food are through the roof.
The lodge itself has a modern, open design, which fits nicely in the boulders where it is built. The design is not only extremely beautiful but practical, the openness allows for nice air ventilation throughout the day so the room does not overheat. The spacious private terraces are fabulous. A smart little detail is the hatch near the entrance, where a tea /coffee tray may be placed during the wake up call, which ensures that you do not have to stumble out of bed and throw some clothes on in order to receive it.

Guiding standards at Asilia are very high. We had a great time with our guide Bahati, who is super friendly and outgoing and full of knowledge. Although he is still young and has not worked as a guide for a very long time, he already possesses an amount of knowledge that many guides will not acquire in a lifetime. We were impressed upon learning that Asilia does annual advanced training for its guides for refreshing and deepening your knowledge. This clearly pays off. During green season, we did not see too many animals, but it was great for birding and we got extremely lucky with wild dogs, getting so see a huge pack not only once but twice, the second time with interactions and playful behavior.

I wish, I could gush about the food, but unfortunately both of us had a stomach bug (we brought it, we did NOT get it at Jabali!) and could not enjoy the delicious food as much as we would have liked. The few things we could eat were absolutely fantastic though. We were a big fan of the cold soups during lunch. Jabali is very accommodating in terms of special requests as well.

The staff was warm and friendly and extremely accommodating and hospitable. We received a lot of attention in general and also in terms of our illness. There is even the option to talk to a doctor who will prescribe medicine that Jabili will organize for you. We never thought that we would need this, but it was actually extremely convenient and helpful.

I cannot imagine a height of Safari luxury beyond that provided at Jabali Ridge. The lodge is designed to perfection, aesthetically blending in seamlessly to the surrounding environment and rocky outcrop on which it has been constructed. The food prepared by Chef Peter is first class, a real highlight for us being the plethora of mezze plates for lunch, combining culinary styles from all over the world. The rooms provide a wonderful space to relax in the afternoon between drives and meals, with an excellent added touch of being able to provide yoga mats and spin bikes should you wish to be a bit more active on your safari. The Ruaha itself is a stunning landscape, and travelling in February meant it was lush green and thick bush everywhere. Despite the perceived difficulty in spotting game, there was an abundance of large elephant and lions, with excellent sightings on every drive. As with other Asilia camps we visited the staff were first rate, on hand for anything. A true luxury safari experience that I would love to repeat in a heartbeat.

I did a lot of research before arriving at Jabali Ridge, and I was still astounded by the beauty of the camp, I stayed in room five which had an elevated view of Ruaha, the rooms are beautiful. with a stocked fridge as well as tea/coffee and homemade biscuits.
The wifi is strong in the rooms, the bed is comfortable and there is a fan above the bed to keep you cool at night as it can be hot.
At the pool, there is a bar where you can enjoy cocktails and snacks. the bartender made me a mocktail with fresh muddled fruit.

The staff went above and beyond to please us, not only were they attentive and professional but they also had amazing joyous energy. they were so much fun.
The food was delicious and the desserts made by chef Pete were also great and refreshing. They took into account my vegan diet. Attention to detail with meal setups.

The vehicles for the game drives were open so you feel at one with nature. The guides were top-notch, my guide was able to spot a leopard that was really hidden and predict the movements of a large herd of buffalo so we could position the vehicle for the best viewing, he shared so much knowledge about the wildlife. and was always focused on providing a great time for us.
I feel blessed to have stayed here

Bringing forward, some words of appreciation for our wonderful stay at the Jabali Ridge.
Special thanks to chef Peter and his team who spoiled us with his Cicchetti food concept of International and African cuisine. Frank from the F&B team with his perfect setup of the candlelight dinner under the African sky.
Tour guide Walter who lead us to the picture-perfect locations and his perfect outlined information of all kind. Kristina the Lodge manager and the whole back of house team, who always looked after our wellbeing’s with no wishes ever left open. Asilia Jabali Ridge is little gem in his location, room setup, cozy beddings and attention to detail, what makes it a perfect holiday destination.

I cannot write enough about how good our stay was at Jibali Ridge. From the manager, Christine, to the chef (his pastries were killers) to our wonderful guide, Agostino (and his able assistant/intern Rebecca) everyone was amazing. The games drives were incredible (with fantastic lunches prepared so we could stay out all day), and Agostino’s knowledge of the game, the birds and the plants in the area was most impressive. He seemed to know where to drive and when in order to see the most animals the closest. Our room, especially with the background of the lions roaring in the evening, was so enjoyable and comfortable. We look forward to visiting again soon.

My partner and I had the most amazing time at Jabali Ridge in the Ruaha National Park. As soon as we arrived to the camp, our temperatures were recorded and we did a contact-less check in. The staff members were always wearing masks, and the team took many extra measures to ensure that we felt safe. For example, during high tea each evening, each party had their own separate snack tray in Saran Wrap waiting for them.

I can’t express enough how well we were treated during our stay at Jabali. Our driver Ngimba tried his best to make sure that we saw all of the animals that we wanted to. We did a bit of “off-roading” to find animals hidden in the bushes and trees. The chef at the lodge took our feedback and cared deeply about our experience with the food. Jackson the mixologist and our server Frank remembered all of the small details during our time there to make each encounter more personalized. Kristina the camp manager was super friendly and attentive. We will definitely return, and are so happy that we decided to go this season.

This lodge is an absolute gem, tucked away in the rocks, barely visible as you drive towards it, with views to die for overlooking the baobab plains. The rooms are accessed by board walks and are luxurious with all creature comforts and shutters that open the room to large wrap around deck with views over the plains. The staff must be complimented on their service, which stretches beyond normal expectations of service excellence. Special mention must be made to Pascal, the Manager, and to Jackson. But Peter, the chef, deserves an extra special thank you. How he concocts such excellent tasty meals in a tiny kitchen in the bush, is a marvel. His menus, and there was always a choice, compare with any Michelin starred restaurant. And he was so humble and willing to share his recipes. I would return tomorrow if I could!

Jabali Ridge combines a first-rate safari experience with the ultimate luxury hotel. I thoroughly recommend it.

We were allocated a guide, Dulla, who was totally committed to his work and very knowledgeable. On one of the drives he said that he smelt something (I didn’t) and followed the paths to a recent kill. As a result, we witnessed a stand-off between competing lions. Add in the elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, hippos and numerous types of antelopes and birds and we’d had a comprehensive experience of Tanganyika species.

The staff were superb and the chef Peter was keen to tailor what was on offer to the guests’ needs. I like a light lunch and he produced a different selection of salads each day and one evening’s ossobuco would have won an international prize.

My only warning is don’t go unless you want to see wildlife. That is Jabali Ridge’s purpose and it does it so very, very well. Thanks Kristina and all the staff for a perfect holiday.

It is a no brainer why Asilia has chosen Jabali to be the flagship of the company.

If there is one word to describe Jabali it is breathtaking. The lodge is stuning. The rooms are huge with a bed more comfortable than my own at home. The doors open to a massive deck including hammock for relaxing where giraffes may even wander over to you. The lounge and bar area is modern and a perfect chill spot. The pool overlooking Ruaha National Park is surreal.

The service at Jabali was impeccable. The staff really made us feel at home. Everynight they prepared a cocktail hour by the fire for us and the other guests were we really got to know the staff. We were deeply inspired by their knowledge and personal stories. We felt like we got to know the Tanzanian culture first hand. Especially Ombeni, Charles and Sadiq made us feel right at home.

Our guide Gniimba was another highlight of our trip. His knowledge of the wildlife and nature around us astonished us at times. He was extremely informative and entertaining and even tried to make the impossible possible. The first night game drive he found cheetas, a rare sighting during the short rain season in Ruaha. Every game drive was a surreal experience.

The food was impeccable. Every day we told the chef how amazing it was. Everything was fresh and healthy and better than most star restaurants we have been to in Europe. Dinners at the communal table were great. This way we got to know the other guests and the staff even beter. I feel like we have made life long friends after our stay at Jabali.

We often don’t visit the same hotel twice but we know we will be back at Jabali! I can honestly say it is the most amazing place we have ever been. You will regret not visiting here! A true masterpiece.

Asanta Sana Jabali Team!

The camp managed to build an amazing team, well-coordinated and very professional. We were always surrounded by sensitive, delicate attention and received friendly support. I would especially like to mention the chef, who every day surprised us with a wide selection of delicious food, accompanied by a unique presentation. We were in 9 camps in Africa, so we can say for sure: right now the best cook in Africa is here.
We arrived in the off-season, so there were few animals. But they was not shy at all and allowed to watch themselves for a long time from a very close distance. Rain season was offset by coolness, fragrant Bush and a wonderful camp team.
Thank you very much!
Asanti sana!

You can do a direct internal flight about 90 minutes from Dar es Salaam. and camp staff will pick you up from the airport. I don't remember the price but it is a luxury camp with great attentive staff so it is not going to be on a budget. But you should definitely look online and see if you can get a good price
