Friendly and hospitable service, very homely feel. The food is great. Well located, just a short drive to the Royal Natal National Park where there are lots of great hikes to do (for those looking for outdoor activities). Would definitely visit again and recommend to others.

The best scones, best hostess, best stop on the way through to Bloem / Gauteng or Midlands. Friendly, welcoming and Mungo will always greet you!
If you're a hungry traveller, would suggest a stop for lunch, the meals are certainly good portions.

A very stale chocolate cake without icing
Chocolate brownie was a muffin.
We ordered a toasted cheese only to be told 5 mins later that they didn’t have any cheese?
Chips very greasy and half uncooked.
Just awful

Among the beautiful views and after taking special care to personally telephone and find a supposed “pet-friendly” overnight, we had such an unhappy and unpleasant experience at this place over a week ago. I experienced a very rude Simon Kerr, a man who has all the years of experience in his industry to hide behind to exempt him from his behaviour. He knows the right words to put the blame and responsibility on the customer if they should choose to feel unwelcome, but note that you will be charged - even if he shouts at you, accuse you of lying about your dogs and storms off to leave you standing like a child sent to your room until dinner is served, where you WILL sit and smile and wave. Well, we left, and we were charged within 10 minutes of leaving while I was still trying to phone his wife. We were also answered with a strong email containing lots of terms and conditions and that WE as customers "absconded". He never even introduced himself to me... Well, “nice” to meet you, Mr Kerr. I feel so stupid for standing in that room crying after your shouting, wondering what to do; because it was actually so clear – I don’t want to be around people like you. Even if your advertising invited me.
(Subsequently I've seen that they have since removed the 'pet-friendly' filter from their listing on the site that we used to search their details.)

On this occasion we only popped in for lunch, we stayed over on a previous trip. Great little pub and restaurant with delicious food. A family run business - do ask for Simon or the “Phatt Chef” as he is affectionately known. It makes for great stories over a drink in front of the fire. The pepper steak pie is to die for, but so is most of the food on the menu. Great variety at an affordable price. Do make time to visit Megan’s little trading store.

I stumbled across the CCC during a cross-country trip with my two small dogs. I intentionally made no bookings ahead, and had no firm route. I had spent previous nights in several other small hotels in the Hogs-Back and southern Drakensberg which were nice, but this took the cake.

The staff were warm and welcoming from the minute we arrived. We had a room in the main building which has the atmosphere something between a farmhouse and an old colonial inn. It was welcoming, warm, quiet, super-comfortable and super-clean. The views within a few meters around the property are breathtaking. This, along with the atmosphere of the place, would have been enough to give the CCC the highest rating.

Then came the food... I've dined at some of the best restaurants in the world and the food and service I enjoyed here was among the best I've had, hands down. I can't wait to find an excuse to return and spend a few more days there.

The cottages looked great from the outside and would likely afford one more privacy. However, if you are the kind of person who likes to strike up a conversation with fellow guests opt for the main building which has comfy areas to sit, read and socialize if you want. Welcomes small, well-behaved dogs on leash.

I cannot say enough great things about this place. I came here with a friend to do some hiking in Drakensberg. We arrived late at night and the chef, Simon, brought us milk and cookies. He advised us to do the Tugela Gorge hike, which was fantastic. It was about 30 minutes away. When we got back, we had dinner at the Phatt Chef restaurant and it was amazing! The snails in lychee with blue cheese sauce was out of this world and I don't even usually like snails. The steak write was ridiculously good too. Simon and his wife helped us plan out the next few days of our trips. She brought us a detailed map of South Africa all the way from Durban. He wrote us detailed directions for our 10 hour drive the next day so that we could take the safest roads. They really are great people. The B&B was terrific too. Our room was clean and pretty. A great value. The breakfast was included and was delicious. The views of the mountains were lovely. I would recommend this place highly.
