The cottage no 4 was very privately located and had great views. The set-up is geared toward a romantic get away and the fireplace place with ample wood was well used. We went for a very nice hike via the marked trail and also visited the Kaalvoet Vrou monument located some 800m from the cottage. The only suggestion I have is to have a better and perhaps larger braai available on the patio and also a bit more warm water (larger geyser) to be available while spending time and enjoying some cocktails in the Jacuzzi bath (which is great) as the water gets cold quite quickly.

If you want tranquility, this is the place to go - no neighbours, you are all on your own. Fabulous views, Lots of walks, bike trails, 4x4 trails available for the energetic. Everything is self-catering, therefore, ensure you have everything you need as it a fairly long bumpy dirt road to get to the cottages.

Unrivalled jaw-dropping views. Dumbe 3 is quite exceptional. The hosts have thought of everything, with a keen eye for detail you will want to stay indefinitely! Quiet, scenic, relaxing gem. Which provides a beautiful view of the sunrise in the East from your patio (or even your bed). House was immaculate upon arrival, ground staff were friendly and helpful. Hiking route is clearly marked. Cannot compliment this property and it's hosts enough! Remember to bring cash for wood, property has a great fireplace and cosy lounge area.

Wow is all my husband and myself can say. Absolutely beautiful spacious accommodation with outstanding views and spectacular sun rises. Peaceful, nobody else around - if you want to relax, unwind and have total isolation, then Dumbe is the place - we stayed in number 4.

We loved staying at Dumbe number 1 for 3 nights in October. The cottages are extremely private and each has truly amazing views over the valley. The cottages are on the edge of an escarpment and there are loads of lovely hikes in all directions. We would highly recommend staying here and loved using the fireplace when the mist rolled in on our last day. Very comfy bed, lovely stone floor shower, great braai area and fully equipped kitchen. There is no wifi and the cell reception is quite patchy.

The best destination for a breakaway to refresh mind, spirit and soul. Never-ending views of the Drakensberg from Dumbe Nr 4 chalet that you cannot stop looking at - from inside the chalet as well as outside. A piece of history that is so interesting. A well-equipped chalet with everything needed, including a spa bath and cosy fireplace! Waking up to the most incredible sunrise. A multitude of bird species that compliment the otherwise quiet surroundings. The weekend passed too quickly as we would have loved to spend another 2 days at least.. Defenitely the place to return to...as often as possible!

We stayed in Dumbe 1 for 5 days, best holiday I've ever had. The chalet is very cosy, the kitchen was well equipped for all our cooking needs and even though this cottage didn't have a jacuzzi our stay was still awesome. The gravel road to the cottages wasn't too bad for our mazda 2 but its definitely advised to arrive during the day as it can get very foggy in the evening and it's still quite a bumpy ride. The views and well marked trails were amazing for the walks we took. We receive personalized service in the form of Elma making sure we arrived safely and answering any questions via whatsapp. We loved the way things are run at the cottages, you have all the privacy, cleaning can happen every day but we declined until we checked out. We really loved our stay and will definitely be back for a chalet with a jacuzzi and with a 4X4 to do some more exploring.…

We stayed at Dumbe no. 4 and had the most wonderful time. It was perfect, better than we expected. It's not too far from Joburg, which suited our short getaway. It's romantic, private and it had all you could need. We can't wait to go back.
