Upon arriving at the gate, we were greeted warmly and welcomed to this establishment. We arrived early and it was explained that check-in would only be possible later, however, we could visit the bar, walk the grounds, or enjoy dining in the restaurant. The room we were allocated in the hotel was spacious, with a generous bathroom and closet space, facing a breathtaking view. No ask was too inconvenient for everyone. The spa was incredible and we enjoyed all the treatments. There were plenty of activities and the resort accommodates all types of travelling groups. We parked, forgot about the outside world, and never left the resort. Definitely a go-back-to kind of place!!

Beautiful resort and views! Great for families! Hotel shower needs a high pressure clean (black grime on walls), resort does not cater for Hindus (only beef & pork at brekkie, disappointing) Please consider chicken or lamb sausages! Supper was awesome ❤️ Staff are friendly & accommodating! Thank you LSH 🌷

For many years we have driven pass the entrance to the resort and have always threatened to stay, on our next passing. In February 2021 we eventually made the booking.

When we were looking for a place to stay the number one criteria was; a pet friendly unit. The resort was able to offer 2 self catering units allocated for tenants with pets with the added option of eating in the hotel dining room (restaurant) and able have a drink at the ladies bar. We warmly created, in compliance with the Covid regulations, by the staff.

Considering that we had a pet friendly unit, the unit did not have any pet odour from the previous tenant. The unit stock included pets beds and bowls. The necessary poop scoop is also available. The only gripe I have is the stairs. Unfortunately the uneven terrain results in a double on 1 side and a single on the other.

The resorts offers numerous walks from 30 minutes to 2 and 1/2 hours, so do not forget to bring your hiking boots, and remember to inform the resort of your intended hike and return.

The predetermined selection of evenings meals, due to Covid, were of the edible quantity and superbly prepared.

Will definitely have to revisit to complete more of the hiking trails.

Dear 511gh, Thank you kindly for your review and comments. Sadly so many people do just drive past without knowing what awaits them past the entrance. We do pride ourselves in our friendly and efficient service and the fact that we adhere to all COVID protocols even though these have some effect on what we may offer but, better safe than sorry. The self catering units do all have stairs and this is mentioned on all our sites and sadly we cannot change these. I do however thank you for stating that these were all determined by the terrain. We look forward to your next visit.

Visited this hotel and spent a night en route to Clarens. A review of this old establishment has to be written with due respect to covid and recent adverse weather conditions.
Positives: every effort it seems is being made to cordone off unsafe areas due to recent flooding and windy conditions. Lots of thatched roofs and awnings in and out of the rooms are being repaired. Common areas like dining and entrance is well maintained. Food in dining hall was a la carte and decent and well prepared. Little short on staff on floor though.
Negatives:
Shrubs right in front reception area not kept near and tidy.
Rooms I had deluxe room. The bathroom looks like showers added but the stainless steel type sink gave me a prison feel. Not classy for 4 star.
My towel was in shreds and torn. I always maintain as a frequent traveller..all we need is a comfortable bed, clean linen, a clean bath and toilet and a decent plate of food.
Whilst there is signs of recovery from devastating covid housekeeping must do their bit to keep rooms and baths Smelling fresh and looking clean and neat.
Towels were no excuse very thin worn out and torn mind you.
It will be a very long time to think of me coming back to this resort again. I hope some changes and upgrades will be done and competed in the future.
Wishing this establishment well going forward

Dear Zora, Thank you for your detailed feedback regarding your recent stay with us. We deeply regret that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we would like to address your concerns. From the outset of your booking, there was some confusion as the initial request was for a double room. Shortly before check-in, the request was changed to a family room to accommodate an additional family member. While we tried our best to adjust to your needs, this last-minute change presented challenges in ensuring that everything was prepared to our usual standards. As you noted, we are actively working on renovations throughout the resort to improve our facilities, and your feedback is invaluable as we continue this process. During your visit, we had just experienced continuous rain over several days, which required our maintenance team to focus on urgent repairs to ensure the safety and comfort of all our guests. Regarding the torn towel, we wholeheartedly agree that this was unacceptable. Please rest assured that the housekeeper responsible for servicing your room received a final written warning as a result. This is not the standard we aim to deliver, and we are taking steps to ensure such issues do not recur. We appreciate your acknowledgment of our efforts in maintaining common areas and providing quality food despite the challenges. Your constructive comments about the bathroom and shrubs near the reception have been noted, and we will work to address these areas as part of our ongoing upgrades. Thank you for wishing us well in our efforts to improve. We hope to welcome you back in the future to experience the positive changes we are making.

This resort is very well managed even though they are in the process of revamping. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The resort has amazing views of the Drakensberg Mountains. The staff are all very friendly, but especially the reception staff. Management (Gerhard and Marina) are hands on and make sure that every guest feels special. Our dietary needs were well taken care of. We don't eat Beef or Pork and every Dinner had a Chicken and Lamb option with plenty more options. We specifically requested Lamb on at least one of the Dinners and to our delight, we had a Lamb option for all the 3 Dinners during our stay. We stayed during the Heritage Day Long Weekend and even though the resort was booked to capacity, we did not have to queue for food or wait very long for anything. Management are on duty all the time and they get involved with assisting the staff immediately if they notice that staff are a bit busy, like clearing tables themselves and even making toast. Gerhard and him team have a real passion for hospitality and this will go a long way to their success.

We decided as a family to get away to the Drakensberg for a week for some peace and quiet while working remotely in the afternoons and spending quality family time in the mornings for school holidays.

We stayed in a 6 sleeper self catering chalet which was very clean and comfy and had lots of space for the 4 of us and all our stuff. We were also pleasantly surprised that the chalet had a wifi router with free wifi so we were able to have uninterrupted 6 hour meetings every day with a beautiful view of the mountains while working. We were also able make use of the hotel lounge on a cold day where they warmed the room with a lovely fire and the waiters kept bringing coffee and cake and we're very attentive.

There is lots to do for adults and kids at this resort and we were never bored once. We played tennis, putt-putt, air hockey, pool, jumped on trampolines, lay by both stunning pools, went horse riding and even got to snuggle the resident bunnies.

We also went on two hikes to the Waterfall and The Wishing Well with gorgeous views and easy trails.

The staff at this resort were brilliant, very friendly and knowledgeable and always polite and attentive, 5 star service for service from reception to housekeeping to waiters and chef to management, they were all brilliant!

We even managed to bring our offroad bikes along and go for some lovely rides on the dirt roads surrounding the hotel.

The resort is safe and quiet and the kids loved riding their bicycles around inbetween the chalet and resort facilities.

We will definitely be back!

Dear VanSaltysAdventures, Many thanks for a wonderful review and all the great comments. Usually I would write about what we have to offer but in your case i do believe you touched on everything and then some. I would however have loved if the staff had shown you our work from holiday facilities that we offer which includes a zoom room and a boardroom which offers workstations for guests working whilst on holiday. These are both situated upstairs next to the lounge mentioned. I would also like to thank you for the video you made and sent to us that is visible on our facebook page. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Our stay was for 4 nights in the hotel. This included breakfast and dinner.
The check-in and out was efficient and friendly. The suite was impressive with a large seating area and beautiful patio over looking thr pond. The rooms have underfloor heating, which took away the chill. The bathroom has a huge tub and a high-pressure shower.
There are many free and paid activities, including a spa.
The hotel has a magnificent view across the valley looking towards the mountain range.
Clarens is scenic 100km away.
A lovely experience and just what we needed for a peaceful getaway.

We went as a group with BMW motorad, motorbike club for the annual Christmas weekend getaway. The Hotel was extremely accommodating. An area was designated in the undercover parking for the motorbikes. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Nothing was to much trouble. The food was outstanding - compliments to the chefs!
The rooms had a wonderful view - just ensure you ask for a view as some rooms are set back, view still there but better to get "front row" rooms. Rooms are comfortable and clean.
Plenty of activities at the Hotel.
Clarens is about an hour away, so lovely for a lunch and drive through Golden Gate.
Highly recommend Little Switzerland!!

Have always enjoyed this resort and have stayed before in the hotel and in the self catering units. On the spur of the moment we chose to visit and Glen from reservations was very accommodating in getting us a reservation literally the same day as my query in a pet friendly self catering unit. I loved that I was able to bring our small dog with. We really enjoyed walking with her around the grounds. The new Covid protocols made us feel safe and we felt the staff were very grateful for our business and very friendly. Management were attentive in the restaurant and we had both dinner and breakfast in the hotel - both buffet style although you may no longer help yourself - someone dishes up for you. Will recommend and will return.
Some maintenance issues need taking care of in the unit we stayed in (123) but not a deal breaker by any means.

We spent 5 lovely days over December/Jan at this resort. The hikes were beautiful and scenic and the receptionist, Kathy , super friendly. We had a wonderful time outdoors. The kids entertainment wasn’t particularly exciting. There is a lot more that can be done for the kids with some creativity and effort .The Chalets and the equipment in the kids club however require refurbishment, and the rooms do require Aircon’s. Sleeping does become uncomfortable in the summer even with a fan provided (in the main bedroom only.) My teenage sons found it unpleasant to sleep in their room during the hot summer nights. The cane furniture is particularly uncomfortable and the main bathroom upstairs has no shower .The pathway /paving outside Chalet 117 is uneven at some spots and has a bit of a slope which needs to be sorted out. I had a nasty fall and may have torn some ligaments around my knee as a result which has still not healed. If you not fussy about super comfort and are prepared to overlook the interior of the chalets (as we did) you will have lovely time . Take plenty of mosquito repellent with you !!! All in all , we enjoyed our stay at this lovely resort mainly as a result of the outdoor hikes and the beautiful scenery at this location.

Dear Chavoos, Thank you for taking time to post your review and for your feedback. Whilst we appreciate all positive feedback criticism is just as important in order for us to achieve the standards our guests expect. Please note that we have already started the refurb of the chalets but had to halt these due to the past years financial uncertainties and restrictions on our trade. We are pleased to announce that we have already started work on the units again and should at least complete 12 in this coming year. Unfortunately as it is a family unit they are set out to have one shower and one bath as small kids still need to be bathed so we have to take this into consideration whilst walk in shower baths are not a safe option. In the new units all furniture has been changed as well as the complete lay-out of the kitchen and lounge. I am however thrilled to read how much you enjoyed your overall stay and trust you will experience a upgraded unit upon your next visit with all the creature comforts that come with it less the mosquitoes.
