I arrived late in the evening, without a booking, but was kindly received and promptly helped. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was very well equipped with tea and coffee, a mini fridge, TV (DSTV) and air conditioner. The bed was very comfortable with white, clean linen, which made for a great sleep. The bathrooms were also lovely and clean, and this room had a large bath and large shower. As does every South African town, Ladybrand also struggles with load shedding, but other than the very faint sound of generators in the distance, I would not have known that the guest house was affected, as I was able to still enjoy a hot shower and get ready for my day, without any delays - a great relief!

I suggest that the menu be expanded and the service of waiters during the evening be improved. Not once was I asked if the food was ok or if I wanted to order something else - it was an effort to get the attention of a waiter.
Service at breakfast throughout the week was friendly and very helpful.
All food was delicious thank you.

My stay at Cranberry Guesthouse was perfect and professionally handled starting from when I made a telephone booking, no hustle at all. I informed the Guesthouse which room do I prefer and I got it with an affordable price. Everything was perfectly done, room service was perfect, delicious food through out my duration of stay, can't forget the hospitality of the Staffs, always available to assist when you need them. It's really worth it to stay at Cranberry Guesthouse. Thanks to the Management and the Staff of Cranberry Guesthouse for their professionalism.

We used Cranberry Cottage as an overnight stay en route back home after it was recommended by a friend. We were three adults, one couple and our single adult daughter. Accommodation had been booked ahead and paid for in full.
Our initial and overall impression was that of a disorganized establishment. My daughter was given a single room on the first floor with ladders on her little veranda where workmen were busy painting . This was unacceptable to us and I paid in to upgrade her to a better room.We asked to be in the same block but I was told all the other rooms were booked, yet the next morning none had been occupied??. My daughter did not have hot water in the morning. The peacocks kept us awake crowing for most of the night.
They have a small but impressive wine list and cellar which I was shown but the white wine which I ordered was not cold and had to be put on ice.
I booked a table for three for dinner when I booked accommodation and confirmed it the previous day. On arrival for dinner there were no tables for three people and we sat at a large table luckily not sharing with anybody. The steaks and oxtail that we ordered were excellent! Our breakfast order got mixed up with the wrong extras with the wrong eggs.

Driving and looking for accommodation on your phone can lead to making a booking at the wrong place, especially when the places have the same name. This is what happened to me last week.
and even though I've explained the situation to the owner and staff and that it was not intentional, but purely by accident. He had an attitude about it. after emailing and calling everyday to enquire about my refund so that I can actually pay the Correct place in Khatu and not
Not only did they never respond but made me wait an entire week after the incident to pay a portion of the amount. I don't see how they Justify taking or charging a penalty fee if I never even used their facility and as I say It was not even the correct place.
Clearly they need the portion of the money which has been kept due to Covid excuses.
Be careful when booking accommodation here, if this is how they handle this situation then I can only imagine how bad the actual service must be.

Dear Clifford (THIS RESPONSE WAS EMAILED TO YOU 23 SEPTEMBER) Let me please give you the facts of your booking: 1] We received a mail from our website on 9th September 1:38 pm requesting accommodation. YOU WENT ONTO OUR WEBSITE THAT STATES WE ARE IN LADYBRAND! 2] We emailed you a proforma invoice on 9th September 1:42 pm. ON THE INVOICE IT STATES OUR ADRES AS LADYBRAND ON TOP AND IN THE BANK DETAILS! IT ALSO IN BOLD STATES OUR CANCELLATION POLICY! ATTACHED YET AGAIN. “Cancellation Policy • 100 % of the value of the total stay if cancelled 1 days or less prior to date of arrival, or if a “no show”; • 50% of the value of the total stay if cancelled less than 2 days prior to date of arrival; • 25% cancellation fee on the value of the total stay if cancelled less than 5 days prior to date of arrival. The full extent of the stay will be charged for in the event of a premature departure. This is not dependent on the hotel’s occupancy level. Please note – NO verbal cancellations will be accepted. All cancellations are to be faxed or e-mailed directly to Cranberry Cottage at info@cranberry.co.za.” 3] On the 10th September you emailed your pop, which you saved in pdf format as: “ABSA cranberry Ladybrand” EVEN YOU SAVED THE POP AS LADYBRAND! 4] We received your email to cancel on the same day as your arrival 13th September 12:23 According to our policy that was mailed to you, you should have forfeited the total amount. 5] you phoned me to explain it’s a mistype error. THERE WERE 5 OPPURTUNITIES FOR YOU OR WHO EVER DID THE PAYMENT TO READ THAT WE ARE IN LADYBRAND! I TOLD YOU THE SECOND TIME THAT I WILL REFUND YOU, BUT IT WOULD NOT BE THE FULL AMOUNT. I considered it and took into account that we spend time and effort in doing this booking and refunded you R2400 (R800 was kept for that same night) which I feel is more than fair considering the amount of time that we stated we are in Ladybrand and you knew it, as you saved the payment as such. If I kept 100% to the policy mailed to you. I didn’t have to refund you any money as the incompetence wasn’t on my side. Even to explain you all these facts and 2 of my staff follow up and investigation regarding this matter cost time and effort. We are registered with CIPC as cranberry cottage and feel therefore that everything on my side is in order and all emails stated our address to you. Even our email address and website address are in our registered name. If you are angry with me, I suggest you take it out on “cranberry Kathu” as all my registrations are correct. Kind Regards

I really love Cranberry and I am a loyal client as it is a great place. However, this time I was very disappointed as I indicated that I will arrive late. From 4 pm after my flight landed I called Cranberry to indicate that I am running late and there was no response - following more than 10 calls!
Needless to say, I could not proceed to drive at night with no response and assurance of arrangement made for my late arrival, and I had to find alternative accommodation, to safeguard my personal security. I have now lost my money that I had already paid as I had to make swift decisions based on the non-responsiveness of the establishment. I am very disappointed and hope my money will be refunded!

I stayed at Leopard and unfortunately experienced extremely low water pressure in the shower , i reported this to the rude reception who locked his door stating that the was on a call and told me he will send security which he never did .

Despite my company covering breakfast and dinner expenses, I repeatedly encountered issues when placing orders, as I was asked to pay each time. This suggests a lack of communication between the restaurant staff and management regarding billing procedures. Additionally, the restaurant's service was extremely disappointing, leading me to settle for simple toasted bread and cheese for breakfast during my two-night stay due to excessive wait times for food preparation.

The staff complement was competent, confident and helpful. Due to our planned late arrival at 20:00 with the kitchen taking last orders at 19:00 we were invited while still on the road to order dinner ahead. This was perfectly executed and left in our well-appointed very comfortable suite with kitchenette which served us well. The restaurant has a variety of traditional dishes on its menu and a delight after a day on the road. We find this a perfect stop-over when travelling South to the Eastern Cape.

Beautiful grounds and gardens. Room was shabby and outdated. Brown/black shower tiles with mould (we showered with our slipslops on). Bathroom light had an annoying flicker and the light was so poor you could hardly see in the bathroom. Bathroom blinds were also broken. Badly organised restaurant with parts of our order being forgotten. One meal arrived long after all the other meals. As a result we checked out without having breakfast the next morning. I understand that rooms have not been utilised because of Covid, but the maintenance department should have given the room a once over and check that everything works before it gets let.

First room booked to us was not cleaned, no toilet paper, cat hair on carpets and beds.
2nd room was clean, just a pity that in the week we stayed there, the towels were never exchanged for clean towel.
Blanket on double bed has burn marks on.
Electric blanket on double bed's one remote had no plug and single beds two electric blankets on, one of which is connected to the bedside lamp.
Blinds are broken.
Waiters do not know their menus at all, first had to go to chef to find out what is served with the food.
I believe it's the manager who worked that night, he's clothes were dirty, does not at all give a good impression of such a place which is a four star rating.

Good day. Unfortunately we don't have self catering chalets, however the RCI units are always self catering family units (not rooms). You are welcome to contact me with your reservation details so I can see which unit is allocated to you so I can send you pictures of the unit.
