The guest house beckons weary travellers with its ambiance of uniquely decorated guest rooms, filled with eclectic collections of found items combined with the comforts of the latest technology, such as DStv and air-conditioning, typical of the quality and standards associated with The Green Acorn Guest House. Drive through the gate and you're greeted by a massive oak tree with leafy branches spanning the entire parking area, providing cool shady parking. The owner and her team are super friendly and professionally on-point with everything running like a well oiled machine always accompanied with a smile and speedy assistance with whatever you need. Sandra's eclectic and unique interior design skills will leave you gasping and wanting to see more with remarkable attention to detail in every area of every room so when booking ask them to recommend a room because each one is strikingly different. In fact you may find photos on their Facebook page so you could ask for your room by name and enjoy the experience rather than just a place to sleep. Beds are very comfy and the linen is tops. Their breakfasts are out of this world with farm fresh fruits and yogurts, cereals and all the good stuff but try the savoury pancakes. They will knock your socks off. A stroll around the Green Acorn's gardens will take you past beautiful lavender bushes, vibrant marigolds, colourful roses and many others flowers and shrubs along pretty pathways where seating is positioned under trees or on lush lawns providing the perfect place to take a breath and let your soul catch up with your body. The restaurant and bar are also a must, good food and good company there and don't forget to take a walk through "Die Blik Plek" (The Tin Place) where Sandra has built a little village from repurposed metal and wood displaying some amazingly creative decor items so buy something to take home and display in your home or garden. Truly a memorable experience and a do-over for sure.

Very friendly and excellent service. Good room space and private. The room was neat and clean. The best was the great tasting warm breakfast. Fluffy eggs and a creamy chicken filled pancake with cheese. This was by far the best breakfast I had in a guesthouse.

Clean, very cozy and comfortable rooms. My partner loved the vintage design. The staff was friendly and professional, and ensured we enjoyed our stay. Easy, check-in and a hassle-free checkout. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Ficksburg. Overall, we had a great experience with the Green Acorn...I am sure to book again whenever visiting.

We contacted them regarding a stay. They were so inept at answering our questions and then got rude with spiteful little remarks that were totally uncalled for. So we elected to take our business elsewhere. If they can't even deal with guests electronically with courtesy we were not going to give them our business.

Planning a trip to Ficksburg!
“Green Acorn Guesthouse”.
One should not enter this guesthouse with pre conceived ideas, but open the mind to the adventure of the down to earthliness, upcycling in its most creative form, good value for money and staff waiting to go the extra mile.
The owner Sandra, welcomes you with open arms, in a sincere and heartfelt manner which reminds you how beautiful a day can be, when true kindness touches you.
Inside you find a comfortable sitting area, warmed by a lovely fireplace, serving such delicious carrot cake and a menu filled with niceness to order from.
My sincere gratitude for making our moments matter, with their little food parcels being delivered daily, to my extremely busy team on the project.
Management and staff, once again accept my humble thank you …………………………

We were disappointed with our stay. Having grown up in Ficksburg and armed with local knowledge, we thought that this was a good place to stay.
The service was good, but the facility is in urgent need of repairs and renovation.
The rustic theme blends into a feeling of neglect and decline.
Our room had missing blinds, very sharp metallic edges which caught fingers and toes. The water supply pipes are so rusted, that the bath had to run for 10 minutes before we had clear water. The toilet suffers the same problem. The first shower water smelled awful.
Mosquitoes where is real problem.
The bed was hard and poor quality, but the linen clean and comfortable.

Personally I would not stay here again.

Set in a beautiful garden and lovely rooms. The bathroom was huge with a bath and shower, and heater. The dinning room was set up with many tables each with there own theme. Lots of Antiques in the rooms and dinning room which reminded us of our Grandparents houses. Breakfast was a real home made breakfast and very tasty. The rooms have a fridge and tea station.

Firstly i was promised a lovely garden cottage with a little patio with a garden set. the interior was charming light and airy. i ended up in a horrible hot box furnished with rusted pieces of metal. Toilet section had no light and was partitioned off with rusty tin. the door did not cover the doorway. The second bed was rickety with pieces falling off. no patio, no comfortable place to sit. a very disappointing stay!

Green Acorn has adopted a 'tinny' decor idea which is very quaint. We went in a group of over 20 people and they were certainly not ready for the crowd. Some of us had comfortable beds, but others had old matresses which were uncomfortable, some rooms not aired and some with old holey towels. The whole place was in need of a thorough cleaning. The dinning area was good, but the serving area far too small for buffets. Breakfast catering insufficent for adults - some went without breakfast (although a bed a breakfast accommodation). Staff often shouting to each other across the guest living area. Pity the owner does not seem to have the control over quality.

Phoned the morning to find a room for that night. Had the bachelor room which was very spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was quite a spread and had a variety of items that you would normally only find in much bigger places. Both Sandra and Tania were extremely friendly and made me feel very welcome. The DSTV reception was not very good, but as I was only in the room to shower and sleep, this was not the biggest problem.
