Just returned from our second fabulous holiday at Trou Aux Biches, Beachcomber resort, after first visiting in July of last year. We had a wonderfully relaxing holiday in this paradise location and were thoroughly spoilt and looked after by the resorts amazing staff.

We stayed in one of the stunning 2 bedroom pool villas. The villas are very spacious with all mod cons and amenities and unlike many resorts, are even more fantastic looking in the flesh than they are in the photos on the resort website. We love the privacy of the private tropical garden and good size pool. The perfect place to sit and enjoy the wonderful sunshine in peace and quiet - just the sounds of the infinity pool, breeze in the palm trees and the lovely bid song. It was also a real treat to have our breakfast prepared for us each morning to enjoy in the villa garden, at our chosen time with a lovely selection of food available. The beds were also very comfortable for a great nights sleep.

The resort is set in beautiful tropical gardens that are immaculately cared for. This creates a wonderful ambience across the resort and makes you really feel relaxed and away from the hustle and bustle of home.

Dining options at Trou Aux Biches are also excellent. Dining out and enjoying good food and drink is an important part of the holiday for us and this was one of the many reasons we returned for our holiday this year. We had booked the all inclusive package which provides a significant majority of menu items without supplements and excellent range of wines. We didn’t use the buffet restaurant but ate in all of the al a carte restaurants during our stay. La Caravelle and Mahiya are without doubt the best in the resort. The consistent quality of the food and fantastic flavours in these restaurants make them stand out from the rest. Blue Ginger is also a close runner with Asian fusion cuisine. We were very lucky to be able to attend a special meal at Blue Ginger one evening with a renown Japanese Sushi chef which was a real treat! We found some of the food in La Plage to be a little bland for our palette and Il Corallo was less consistent and a little disappointing on occasions compared to the other restaurants. The service in all the restaurants was excellent.

Although a great holiday option for adults, Trou Aux Biches also caters very well for families with children. They seem to have found the magic of creating a resort to cater for everyone - I noticed many young and older couples alike enjoying the resort in addition to those with children. We travelled with our son who had a truly amazing holiday. The resort Kids Club is is fabulous. The activities provided to entertain are really varied and engaging. He enjoyed fishing, making mocktails, archery and cinema nights to name a few. They can even enjoy water skiing!! The staff in the Kids Club are to be commended for being so fun and welcoming.

As a family there was everything we wanted as adults and well as catering for our son.

One of the most special things about Trou Aux Biches are the staff and their excellent customer service. We were totally spoilt and can’t thank everyone enough for making our holiday so wonderful. Firstly we would like to give a huge thank you to Prateema the villa manager. She is always on hand to help and goes to the trouble of visiting all her villa guests in the evening whilst dining to make sure you’re a having a lovely time without ever being intrusive. Gold standard customer service! We would also like to recognise our villa butler Aikilesh for his discreet service and making sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. Special mention to Krishna for evening service at La Caravelle and Dave for looking after us there at lunch time along with Ritesh for his care and attention lunch time at La Plage - a wonderful setting for lunch with a tasty lunchtime menu. Last but not least, big thank you to Chef Satish and his team at Mahiya who provided us with an amazing cooking experience as a family in his kitchen and ensured our last night was very special. I’m looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and making the Butter Chicken and naan at home very soon to put the learning into practice!

The resort is also to be commended for the lovely evening performances of singers and musicians at La Caravelle and the cultural performances in the Oasis bar.

I would recommend reviewing the service at the Oasis bar. Last year the staff were amazingly efficient and we noticed a real change this year. Some evenings we would go for a pre-dinner drink and on several occasions waited 20 minutes to be served, despite the fact that there seemed to be staff around but often, they seemed to be chatting in small groups and hanging around the bar area when not busy, rather than walking around to check the tables.

Finally, the best way to finish this review is with a quote from my son who was at the time devastated to be going home - ‘It’s the most wonderful place on earth’

Stayed as part of a 10 day trip to mauritius. We were in a beach side junior suite the suite was faultless, It had its own plunge pool in the terrace and the outside shower was a great addition.

Had 2 of the best meals I had in mauritius here, however found the buffet a let down following a stay in cannionier beachcomber, where the buffet is first class.

The staff were also faultless, and with an 11pm flight we were allowed to keep our room, which was a great touch.

Downsides, the buffet, and the price of alcohol. Thankfully we had the escape package which took the sting out of the costs. .2 apperol spritz however was over 20 quid after we checked out. I'm not one for dressing for dinner either so maybe this place just out if my normal comfort zone!

Trou aux Biches is a beautiful hotel with amazing views, fabulous staff and Michelin quality food and wine. If you are a foodie then this hotel is for you. The service and amazing staff are incredible. Every whim is catered for, even those things you comment on but don’t ask for. I cannot remember all the names of the amazing staff that looked after us but everyone was so attentive, including my food allergies. The views of the sea are amazing with the pool looking like an extension of the sea. I recommend you go all inclusive to freely enjoy all the restaurants and delicious wine and cocktails on offer as buying separately is expensive. We travelled to the hotel as a family for my moms 80th birthday. I have intolerance to wheat and dairy. This was not a problem to any of the catering staff who even made me some fabulous desserts and even chocolates. The grounds of the hotel are fascinating. If you love gardening or trees this hotel is a treat. It has a fabulous gym, sports and a wonderful Spa. This hotel is Highly recommended.

I was treated to a week at this luxurious beach-side resort as part of a business trip I needed to undertake. Like with most places, you do your research online, check some traveler photos, read the reviews, but even so I was completely amazed at the level of luxury I was afforded. Online simply does not do it justice.
I arrived and checked in to a Tropical Suite on the ground floor, a huge room facing a lush garden and a bathroom so large and finished off with a glamorous outdoor shower (which was most certainly overused :-)). The rooms are always squeaky clean. I had the most fabulous housekeeper, Vikrum, who twice a day swept ALL the sand out of my room, folded my clothing, put away my shoes, made up my bed and even rolled up my charging cables! Such a lovely guy, always cheery and wanting to make sure I had the very best stay.
This resort offers many dining options, my personal favourite being La Caravelle. The food here is phenomenal and there is even a "romantic table" that can be booked, it's private and elevated above a pond under its own separate roof. I was treated to a delicious birthday dinner here with rose petals scattered on the table and a chocolate mousse cake with candles. All the staff at this hotel are incredibly professional and friendly. It is wonderful to check out of a hotel with not one single complaint about anything!
Beware of the lady in the shop though, she will sell you everything, even stuff you don't need like extra bikini's :-)
The main pool is awesome and the resort in general hosts a lot of activities throughout your stay, the water activities are plentiful. There are also other pools dotted around the resort, you do not need to use the main pool.
All in all, this is probably one of the best beach resorts I have ever stayed at, and I can't wait for my return trip in December.

In general, hospitality in Mauritian hotels is world-class, but Beachcomber is just on another level. Even whilst going out of their way to make you comfortable, the staff make it look so effortless. Everyone made us feel special. Cannot name names for fearing of leaving anybody out 😊

Situated in the northern part of the island, make sure you always have sunscreen handy and are always keeping hydrated – it does tend to get a bit warm in the north! The beach in front of the hotel is almost divided into stretches preventing it from appearing crowded at any point in time. Airport to the hotel would be just over an hour, and the capital, Port Louis is just over 30 mins away.

We had a beachfront suite with pool, which was absolutely gorgeous and way too big for a couple! The bedding must be one of the softest I have ever slept in. That said, I would have liked a bit more natural light in the bedroom. The bathroom, on the other hand, with his & hers sinks, bathtub, rain-shower and outdoor shower basks in natural light making it feel even more luscious.

We ate at 4 of the available restaurants: La Caravelle (Breakfast & dinner), Il Corallo (dinner), L’Oasis (Breakfast), La Plage (Lunch). In addition to all their food being absolutely scrumptious, the other thing they all shared was an incredibly huge portion size! We really struggled to finish our plates and had to even leave some stuff on a couple of occasions.

The way all the staff care for their customers is a testament to how they are themselves treated. In the words of Richard Branson “Clients do not come first. Employees come first. If you take care of your employees, they will take care of the clients”. This could not hold any truer than at Trou aux Biches Beachcomber. At least that’s how we felt.

My only criticism of this hotel (like the other beachcomber ones) is that the pictures on the hotel website do not do it justice at all.

Despite the spotless beach, diverse range of activities and suites that are comfortable beyond measure, the true feature of Trou aux Biches is the staff. Upon arrival, Emily ensured that we were refreshed, comfortable and gave us a great recommendation for dinner at Blue Ginger.

The room is large and always the perfect temperature to return to after a busy day of activities. We were spoilt for choice with the bath, indoor and outdoor shower, and an adjacent pool just a stones throw away!

The hospitality staff were prompt and incredibly accomodating, and we returned to a neat room, thoughtfully organised. The reception staff and concierge were delightful and very helpful, and the polite greetings from the drivers and gardening staff made us feel very welcome.

The spa staff and masseuses were skilled and incredibly professional, and provided individualised care and advice. Despite the rain, it was hard not to appreciate the tennis courts, and the sports centre staff were lovely. Shoutout to Jim who gave my partner a run for his money at table tennis, and took time to help me improve my technique.
It was also delightful meeting Allan and watching him instruct the water aerobics with such enthusiasm. The beach and water-sport staff were very pleasant and informative. Whether you prefer sea kayaking across the crystal turquoise water, or lazing about in the sand, its easy to lose track of time and spent a whole day at the beach.

You're spoilt for choice with restaurant options, and dinner at L'Oasis is always dangerously good. We particularly enjoyed the a la carte menu at Blue Ginger and the seafood/grill evenings at L'Oasis.

Above all, Javed made our trip to Trou aux Biches the most memorable. He delighted us with specially made cocktails and charming conversation, educating us in the craft of Mauritian cuisine and drinks. Even though we were the only people at the bar and the weather was turning, Javed was a fantastic companion to our evening and absolutely dazzled us with his bartending skills and knowledge, which he happily imparted to my partner and I. We would enthusiastically recommend his artisanal cocktails and wonderful company to all visiting Trou aux Biches.

We will definitely be returning!

So, truth be told, we hadn’t booked to go to this hotel but 3 days before departure, we were advised there was an issue with our original booking so we were being advised to stay in the TAB hotel instead. We’d been there a few years earlier so we knew it was a great hotel so we were fine with the change.

This was serendipity for sure.

From the moment we arrived, we were blown away. Ok, it does without saying if you stay in a Beachcomber hotel in Mauritius you are in for a treat regardless what hotel you choose but this hotel was just … magical.

The location is like something from a wonderful film set.. powdery white sands, azure clear ocean, all right next to the grounds of the hotel. Stunning.

The hotel itself is amazingly clean, very tastefully decorated, sophisticated and well considered in terms of its layout.

Their Covid -19 working practices were consistent and proportionate- all staff from GM to gardener complied with requirements 100% of the time with no exceptions.

Our room was beautiful - carefully and professionally cleaned every day with a brilliant turndown service making it a really nice place to spend time in.

The hotel has 6 restaurants all of which are of the highest standard. Whether you choose to eat in the buffet , on the beach or in one of the exquisite a la carte restaurants there is something for everyone.

The 2 bars had a great choice and the staff were Heros.

We used the world class spa extensively and we would highly recommend having treatments while staying here.

We had a romantic lobster meal on the beach for our last night…I’m struggling to find words to describe how out of this world it was…

There’s so much that needs saying about this unbelievable hotel that I’m posting separate reviews about the spa, the beach meal and the Indian restaurant, Mahiya as they are worth sharing much more information about.

The hotel has a great app which literally gives you the menus for each restaurant for each day ( menus change every 3 days) so you can choose where you fancy eating while lying by the pool. All a la carte meals can be booked in the front lobby with the fab food and beverage staff.

But the thing which makes this place are the staff. After travelling extensively and posted almost 100 trip advisor reviews this is the first one where I’ve ever mentioned the staff by name. Don’t get me wrong, almost all staff we have encountered have been great but the staff here are just…. Something special.

So a massive thanks and recognition of exceptional service to all the staff in the TAB but especially Vickram, Trisen, Vanescha, Chef Rischi, Chef Sran, Devi, Ouma, Dashni,Desirella, Curty,Yash, Kunal , Rikesh and Wendy. Thank you for making our experience exceptional and we can’t wait to return.

We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights. We were welcomes by Celine who gave us information about the resort. We took the wedding anniversary package which was a half board but get upgraded to a full board package. Food was delicious in all 6 restaurants. Beach was beautiful as well as the service for the most part.
Some down sides were the number of power outages in the rooms and weak/no wifi in the surrounding area as well as a bit of disruption to our sleep due to the AC switching on an off all night. Service during dinner was a bit slow as well on two occasions.
We had a lovely anniversary cake that was arranged for us by the admin.
It was a shame seeing topless women at the beach considering its a family resort .
The smaller pools by each set of rooms was a nice addition as it gave a sense of privacy when needed. Great free water activities such as kayaking, snorkeling and water skiing.

Amazing Hôtel, very good service, World class breakfast. I really enjoy the Room aswell, you feel like you are isolated in the nature.
Two small issue, even if we wrote to the hôtel to tell them we were arriving at 8am After 15hours flight, they made us wait way too long before finding a solution. As well the restaurant owners are pushing too much to make you go to their restaurant and the one near by.

My husband and I would like to thank everyone working at Trou aux Biches for the wonderful hospitality we experienced during our stay at your hotel. We stayed in Room 303 from 13 to 23 February.

I want to start by mentioning and thanking everyone who works so hard behind the scenes: cleaners, gardeners, pool cleaners, laundry workers, beach staff, maintenance workers, porters, receptionists, kitchen staff, pastry chefs, bakery staff and cooks.

Here are some individuals who stood out for us in a variety of different departments:

Manoj during our first dinner on arrival day at Oasis Restaurant.

At Caravelle Restaurant: Yashneel, Dave, Nazia, Lovena, Fadil, Devi & Vanesha.

Ravee at Mahiya.

Rajesh at Blue Ginger.

Yowan & Jared the barmen.

Amrith who refilled our mini bar.

Robin for beach bar service.

Vinesh did a great job of cleaning and servicing our room. He went out of his way for us and is a great asset to your team. Our room was spotless and fresh once he worked his magic in there.

Then during the Sunday of the Cyclone Emnati (20th Feb) I want to recognise and salute the volunteer staff who worked very, very hard to feed us guests and also keep us safe. Overnight the beach, pools and restaurants were packed up, which must have been a massive amount of work. We had 3 meals at Oasis that day and it was quite incredible to see the staff managing to keep everything going and guests happy in very difficult circumstances. The chefs, cooks, cleaners, bakers, barmen and waiters who worked that day are truly exceptional people and I wish I knew all their names. We were served by San, Laval and Jeff that day.

Lastly, whoever is responsible for the warm, fresh delicious pastries, fresh fruit and warm coffee at 5am for early departing passengers in Reception: thank you, we appreciated it so much on Wednesday morning.

Eating at all the different restaurants was a big part of the holiday for us. The standards of food and service is so high, it is quite rare to find it consistently kept up in a variety of different settings, but somehow your team manages it. I just have to mention the bakery team again as all the bread they bake is top quality and I absolutely loved eating it.
This was a long awaited holiday for us and everyone at Trou aux Biches lived up to our expectations. We haven't stopped talking about our experience since we returned to our normal life here in South Africa.

Yes, they do have a courtesy room. It was offered to us because we arrived early and our room wasn’t going to be ready until 3pm. We never used it because our room was ready early so didn’t need it. Go to the team in reception and they will sort it out for you.

book in advance with hotel we arrived at 9 and were okay but but email them Yes to q2 but the bars stop serving at 11 to AI ( we tipped and this didnt seem to apply :) ) NO to q3 the room numbers indicate whether your AI or not so you just sign the chit. They run a snokel boat - i didnt do this as i dive, but you can snorkel from the hotel but you run the risk of being run over by boats if you need to get to the reef which is a decent swim but not too far. The beach next to the hotel is safeguarded by a rope buoy but there isnt a lot to see in this area.
