Detailed Reviews
I stayed here with a group of friends from 20th November until early December. We all came out for a wedding. The place was an ideal place to stay if you are looking for apartments rather than a hotel. A stunning beach is a 5 minute walk down the road and the apartments have a lovely private pool. Although small, we were the only people ever around it so made it perfect. There are a small amount of sun loungers too, again though because of the size of the place its unlikely I'd say that you would have any space issues out there. The rooms are very spacious and come with everything you need. There is a small supermarket literally outside, however it is incredibly expensive, so you'd be better getting on a bus/taxi or if you have a hire car, heading to grand baie to the super market there. The owners are friendly and helpful if you need any advise. One negative was the WIFI, you get a VERY small amount included in the room and once you run out you can't just top up there. We were advised that you need to take details of the router to a shop that supports the internet provider and top up there... we didn't bother! There are a few restaurants within walking distance and a few more about a 20/30 minute walk away or a short car journey. Overall though a great stay in a perfect location. Had an amazing time and would definitely recommend for anyone looking for apartments to stay in.

Luxurious appartements, nice and clean. Fully equipped kitchen
The complexe includes a swimming pool.
Nicolas, the manager of the residence and his wife are very friendly and always ready to support and give good advices.
Appartement is cleaned on daily basis
Ideally located between Mont Choisy and Trou aux biches beaches (walking distance)
There is also a small shop and currency exchange office next to the appartement.
Very quiet and restful area. 10 min drive to Grand Baie for more animation and shopping mall.
Very nice place with good value for money

We (a family of four) had a really great two week stay at the Belle Haven Appartments.
Location was great with a five minute walk to the beautiful beach and fine snorkling. Restaurants near by varies from high-end to more low cost choises. All were great compared to the price. The room were spacius and clean and ok equipped. You get the basic gear, but it works fine for cooking easy meals.
Bianca and Nicolas, who take care of the compound are extremely kind and helpful with anything you need. Be sure to ask for 'ti piment', dal puri and ice cold sprite served form from the local scooters.
Taxis 50 meters away, which also means that a really great supermarket in Grand Baie is only 10 minutes away. Just remember to get a deal on the price before driving away. Ask Nicolas, if questions.
Traffic close by, but not a problem at all.

1. There were things broke (please see image 1 attached)
- Walls
- Ceiling
- Marks on the walls and ceiling
- Tiles with holes
- Installation of cabinets, air conditioning, lamps – With big holes around
- Toilet paper holder
- Pans with Teflon grated – Impossible to used then and also dangerous because eating the Teflon.
- Incomplete dinnerware – Like this 4 little square dishes in a tray. Looks like one has being broken in a previous stay and it was not replaced.
- The iron had some Scotch tape on it
- The safe box electronic didn’t work – We got a key after complaining, but the first day we could put our value things in there.
- Internet didn’t work for most of our stay at the reception
- …
2. Cleaning (please see image 2 attached)
Even though every day was cleaned, there were some disgusting spots in the apartment
- Curtains on the room
- Sofa (we didn’t used it at all, it was disgusting)
- Bathroom floor
- Walls in general
- Spaces between tiles
- Oxide
- Glass separator in the bathroom
- Both balconies were really dirty
3. Bad quality, not expected in a luxury apartment (please see image 3 attached)
- Having a good internet connexion in the room is A MUST in any hotel/apartment. Most of the hotels /apartments have it also when they are not luxury.
- Very cheap hangers
- Toilet paper was not provided
- Shower without a proper curtain or screen – even being carefully the bathroom was after the shower flooded (a lot of water on the floor)
- There where nothing available inside the shower to put the shampoo, gel, etc. We had to put it on the floor of the shower (quite uncomfortable)
- No hooks or bars to hang the towels so we had to invent some trick with a cloth hangers, but the towels where not dry to the next shower. Really a bud sensation trying to get dry with a wet towel
- Shower without
- Cabinets with the very dirty installation inside (and the bath brush)
- Cushion without cover
- Towels bad quality that didn’t dry (they didn’t absorbed the water)
- Air conditioner only in the room. If you wanted to have a nice temperature in the living room you had to put it very cold and then in the room it was really cold.
- Providing copies of movies in dvd – If you want to provide dvd movies there should be originals. Coping movies at least where I come from is illegal. I don’t felt comfortable with this.
4. Organization, service level
- When we arrive the guard called the supervisor and he show us the apartment quite fast and told us we have to sign a “contract” and give the number of our Visa card with the cvv code. My husband asked the supervisor how to make the final payment because in this moment we only paid a part and he said he will ask the office
1. I do not agree with giving the cvv number of our credit card. You shouldn’t ask for this, there are other ways to make a caution without this system. It really make us fell uncomfortable.
2. The contract said a lot of things that weren’t real, like they are some instructions in the house, or alarm system, or dvds available….
a. You should make a different contract for each location you have
b. You should be sure that you have in the apartment all you are promising, like in our case the dvds, the safe box that works, or the book a-z with the rules.
3. You HAVE TO ask the client with which card they want to pay. You just took the money away without asking us and now we have to pay a commission of 9 euros. We wanted to pay with another card that may have no commission!!!
- On the second day we´ve got the “rules of the house”. I read them and show that for new towels we had to put them in the shower. I put in the shower the carpet of the shower, the hands shower (well it was a bidet towel what was provided for the hands), and a big towel I used to clean the floor after the shower. When we arrived after 14 hours touring the island and getting a bath on the see looking forward for a comforting shower… the towels have not been replace. Even though they have not been replace BUT they took away the old ones, so we had to use one of the towels to put on the floor, and use the other towel that was still wet from the previous shower for both of us!!!! THIS IS UNPARDONABLE!!
- The same night we found out the toilet papel was not refill, so we had NO TOILET PAPER AT ALL!!. Thanks that we bought some kitchen paper so we could use it.
- I wrote that night a letter to the supervisor explaining the problems with the towels, and with the toilet paper, and the pans that it is impossible to make a simple omelet, and the big big problem with the internet… he wrote me a letter back (when we were in the apartment he was never there) and told me:
o They are problems with the network
o That the towels are changed every 4 days
o That we have to buy ourselves the toilet paper
This is not an acceptable response. I just read the rules from YOUR book and follow then. If I read I will ONLY get fresh towels every 4 days then I will find the way to do it in another way but it was written in the rules. Does the supervisor know the rules??
The same for the toilet paper. You let a book with rules when you say the client that he/she should use sun protection, you speak about the hurricanes, etc etc but there is no one word about the toilet paper. If this is like this then it should be written in the book or at least said when arriving. This is not a good thing no having toilet paper. But you should think about it. This is a basic service and if you buy it in big quantity should be that expensive. It it better that you put the apartment prices 5 euros more expensive and you provide the toilet paper, it is really seedy.
- As I told you we just show the supervisor the first day and the day before leaving. My man told him we are leaving tomorrow at 8:30 and he said ok see you tomorrow. Tomorrow he was not there, and we wanted someone to see the apartment and to told us in person everything was ok and that we should pay any deposit. But only the guard was there. He told us to put the key in a box and bye bye. You are planning when the people is arriving you should have someone to check out the clients, even if this is not the typical hotel.
- Another advice a wanted to give you. There should be a inventory list in the apartment, check when check in, check when check out… if you say I took with me something and you take the money from my 200 € deposit is your word against my word. It made us feel very uncomfortable.
- The guard during the day was ok, but the others were terrible. I speak English, Spanish and German, and it was impossible to communicate with him. My husband is French and he told me that the man was answering in French but he was not so sure that we understand exactly what he said. I know in Mauritius you have creole language, but the official language is English, you should have someone there that could speak and understand English!
In summary:
It is really a pity that for this few things the apartment that actually is quite pretty goes from Luxury category to really bad. It was a terrible experience. I was the whole week fighting with my husband because he didn’t wanted to complain because he is very shy and I was really angry with him because when you find this in a hotel/apartment you have to complain. Don’t you agree? Ahhh and THE WORST thing the cristal door (2) to the bathroom and the big big window in the bathroom. At 5 the sun came out and then we couldn’t sleep anymore because of the light!!! (Please see picture attached 4) You should do really something with this. We couldn’t rest at all.
This is the complain we made to the appartment, the answer I can give you one night for free. Hmmm this is not a solution, I will never go again to Mauritius!!

We recently returned from a 14 night stay at this apartment.
The apartment is modern and spacious with a fully fitted kitchen. It is located close to Trou Aux Biches. The best public beach in Mauritius (Mont Choisy) is located within a kilometer from the apartment but did become extremely crowded after new years day.
Apartment does not have a reception and is maintained by a couple. We were provided with a set of keys on arrival by the security guard. There are no concierge type services provided at this establishment.
Guests are not provided with soap, shampoo or even toilet paper. Yes I kid you not, NO TOILET PAPER. Remember to bring this along if intending to stay here. Towels are extremely old, foul smelling and stained and worse of all are only replaced once a week. Bedding is also changed very seldomly and is also of poor quality.
Although the apartment is cleaned daily (excluding Sundays and public holidays), it is not thorough. There is thick grime in the shower, dust in corners and dirty windows. Whilst the caretakers do the very basics of their jobs, they do not go the extra mile for visitors. After complaining about the poorly cleaned apartment, the caretakers made us feel very unwelcomed. Taking into account that there is only one cleaner for the interior of the 8 units in the complex, don't expect a sparkling clean apartment with fresh towels daily.
There is one security guard employed by the building owners and the old man is overworked. He was on duty from 5pm on 31st Dec to 8:30am on 2 January 2017.
The air-conditioning unit is placed in the bedroom and is ineffective in cooling the entire unit and the TV doesn't have any English channels. There is however free uncapped WiFi in the unit which helps.
There is a decent size lap pool in the complex but the security is anally strict about getting out at 6pm even though the sun is still shining bright then.
Overall a good value for money complex but rather travel with your own towels, soap and toilet paper if staying here.

First impression, impressive. Clean, spacious, tastefully decorated, AC, well equipped for self catering, comfortable, secure, WIFI and pool and last but not least, very well managed. During the day there is traffic noise but with the doors shut it is quite peaceful. Nicholas, the property manager, and his wife were very pleasant, professional and accommodating. The beach 5/10 mins walking distance to either side is especially glorious in the early morning. Well it is Mauritius. Shopping facilities, for food and drink is a short drive or about 15/20 mins stroll. ATM, boutiques for souvenirs etc close by. Cafe de la Paix is a short walk to the right of the property (when facing). Don't be fooled by its demure appearance. Mr Sankar, the owner, provides a good service, good food and the perfect omelette. Don't miss out. Nightlife out of season - for a fee non residents can attend shows or dine at hotels nearby. Belle Haven aptly named.

We stayed at this new apartment in Mauritius and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of accommodation, fixtures and fittings. The pool was great and not busy. The property manager was very attentive and help us during our stay.a gorgeous beach is only 5 minutes walk. The shopping mall is only 10 mins drive with a number of small shops on the door step. We highly recommend this place to couples and families with children.

Apart from the amazing accommodation, the host got us a really cheap car rental and catamaran trip to Gabriel island. Our stay couldn't get any better. This place is walking distance to two amazing beaches and a supermarket. Also, the restaurant down the street had amazing food.

We stayed at this apartment for 4 nights in the month of July 2016. Very clean, well maintained, modern property. The room service is also very good. The manager is very helpful. He offered us an free late checkout as our flight to India was in the late evening. Thanks again for that help.
The apartment is very spacious and equipped with all the amenities as promised.
Wifi was free of cost at my room.
Grand Bay market area is about 4Kms from the hotel. Public buses are frequently available to the market.
A good restaurant is also there in front of the apartment (excuse.. don't remember the name.)
Overall great stay!!

Belle Haven apartments are really lives up to its name. The apartments are immaculate and well equipped. We prefer to cook for ourselves and found all the equipment we needed for this, all as good as new. The furnishings are very comfortable and tasteful and the apartment was spotlessly clean. Nicolas and Bianca looked after us really well. Nic took us to PoPo supermarket on arrival and was always really helpful and friendly.
There is 24/7 security and the guards are friendly, helpful and very informative of the area. The pool is clean and well looked after, although we prefer to walk for 5 minutes to the two nearby beaches, both of which are lovely. The location was quiet, which we liked.
I would fully recommend this lovely apartment. It is excellent value.
