Upon arrival at the Oberoi Beach Resort, Mauritius we were warmly greeted by a number of the reservations team and the rooms division manager Natasha, and were immediately taken to our accommodation. We had reserved a luxury villa with private pool, and were immediately upgraded to a premier private villa, with pool, but in a beautiful location, overlooking the sea and horizon which would afford us with spectacular sunsets as the holiday continued.
Having stayed at this resort a number of times in recent years, we have come to know many of the staff on a more personal level, and we were pleased to see them, exchanging greetings and each other’s news of our respective homes.
One of the special qualities of this resort has always been the way that all members of the team engage with guests with genuine warmth and a professional approach, with a willingness to provide you with the best possible experience during your stay.

In fact, for us it was lik being welcomed back home.

In fact, nothing really has changed. The level of service in the fine dining restaurant at breakfast, and dinner has been maintained and the excellent quality and variety of menus is to be applauded. Provision of choice is well catered for, and we were often asked, that if there was a particular dish that was not on the menu, and we would like they would endeavour to accommodate our wishes.

The standard of housekeeping, twice a day is exceptional, nothing is left for the guests to do, except enjoy the facilities provided and be looked after.

On this occasion, apart from all the staff contributing to probably, the best holiday we have experienced, I must give a special mention to Nevis, we, having decided to have a special private dinner on the beach one evening, Nevis, laid up the whole arrangement, the table arrangement with fine linen, the flowers in the sand the lanterns and an authentic fire basket, following this he waited on table exclusively throughout the evening, providing all food and beverages from a menu we had decided upon with Nishal the food and beverages manager, the previous day. The experience was’Awesome’ and under the stars on a night with a full moon, what could have been more romantic?

During this holiday, having stayed at the resort for 13 nights, we decided to have a full day’s trip to the south of the island. We discussed the itinerary for the trip with Vinay, one of the hotel’s chauffeur’s , we had a full day private tour in the hotel’s limousine. Vinay has a love of the island, it’s history, geography and culture. He is also very knowledgable with respect to flora and fauna, and the local wildlife. He was a perfect guide and an excellent chauffeur, thanks for your company Vinay.

I would, if I could, sell up and move into a luxury villa, with pool at the Oberoi Beach Resort and make it my home. Alas, that is not possible and so I must be content that we will return ‘Home’ in the not to distant future, once again.

Thank you all for making our stay a memorable one.

For anyone wanting a special place to relax, in beautiful settings this is the place to be.

Continued success as the season progresses.

The Oberoi resort creates an unbelievable atmosphere to relax you as you enjoy the serene view over the shimmering water. We stayed in the villa which came with three buildings (don’t remember it’s name). It came with the main bedroom which was an en-suite and then a smaller en-suite behind it. Then adjacent to these two there was the living room and in front of this was the private pool. The rooms were immaculate , clean and were designed beautifully. Must watch out for mosquitoes and may be worth getting a mosquito but it’s not swarming with them. They offer water sports, tennis and have a spa which were will amazing to use. The food there was unbelievable especially the breakfast which had the most amazing range of continental food in addition to a list of cooked food. They also offer a traditional dinner which must be booked and is a private room of people which is worth trying and booking ahead. But don’t eat a big lunch as it is really filling and there are half a dozen dishes in it.

This was our 3rd visit to the Oberoi Mauritius and once again the hotel and team exceeded our expectations. From the moment the immaculate Oberoi driver meets you at the airport you slip into a world of relaxation and pampering. The resort remains one of the most beautiful that we have ever visited. The grounds are stunning and rooms spacious and very, very comforable with silent aircon. The food available via the 2 restaurants or private dining is perfectly presented and there are options to suit everyone. This is a hotel that goes above and beyond to take care of its guests and almost anticipate their every need.
Every member of staff (and they outnumber guests by a large margin!) has an easy efficient manner without being over attentive, nothing seems to be too much trouble.
It was impossible to fault the Oberoi's attention to detail concerning pandemic precautions - we felt extremely safe and relaxed more fully than we have been able to do for many months - thank you! Our visits to the spa did contribute to this process.....
Finally, if you are lucky enough to be staying in one of the fabulous pool villas, order the "floating breakfast", it was the most fun two septuagenarians have had in a long time!
The Oberoi Mauritius really is very, very special!

I’ve just returned from a 5 day stay at the beautiful Oberoi Beach Resort in Mauritius and I can tell you I didn’t want to leave. It is a beautiful hotel, from the moment you enter the grounds a feeling of calm and peacefulness descends on you and stays that way throughout your entire stay. The hotel only has 71 rooms and the gardens and landscaping take up 60% of the resort, which is why it feels so calm, and you can hear the sounds of birds everywhere, even from your shower that opens onto a private walled garden. My room, the Luxury Pavillion was big and spacious and very comfortable. I had a lovely ocean view. I loved the restaurants and the food was excellent. My favourite spot to dine was at On the Rocks restaurant for lunch. It is perched right on the edge of the ocean, I could sit and enjoy that view all day. I also enjoyed a destination dining experience right on the beach and a dinner in the Herb Trail Garden where the lamb was slow cooked in the fire pit for 12 hours. It was delicious! The staff are amazing and one of the things that sets the Oberoi apart from other hotels is the unexpected. Every day I would return to my room after service to find a lovely little surprise. It’s the small things that really can make a difference. There are two very large swimming pools, one is adults only and they are both lovely and a great place to relax the day away. The beach has white soft sand but is quite rocky and has a lot of coral because its part of a marine bay. But there is a jetty where you can enter the ocean from and makes it easy to swim from here in the crystal clear water. Great water sports with glass bottom kayaks and stand up paddle boards as well as tennis court and bikes to explore the local area. I enjoyed a massage whilst there and it was very good. I truly loved my stay, I just didn’t want to leave. Highly recommended for a high end luxury relaxing break. Just perfect!

At the end of our holiday in Mauritius we decided to stay at the Oberoi Beach Resort based on the many great reviews we had read.

From the moment we arrived until we left, we experienced the best service we have ever had while travelling to 30+ destinations around the world.

We were greeted, welcomed, and escorted to our rooms with everything ready to relax and enjoy the final days of our vacation. The attention to detail and the attitude of the staff were all exquisite. The rooms were beautifully prepared, and our luggage and personal belongings were treated with exceptional care.

We were amazed by the comfort at the resort. In the rooms we had the best linens, bathrooms were fully equipped with nothing short for a complete and relaxing bath/shower, the pools were pleasantly warm even though it was winter.

The rooms and surroundings were so beautiful. Our rooms were designed with the most interesting local furniture and décor. The architecture of the buildings itself is unique and quite eye catching. There are some amazing features at the resort such as the impressive water aqueduct, a massive rocky pond, and exotically sculpted pools. As soon as you step off the well-maintained paths you are in the nature – the landscaping is respectfully done while showing off the natural flora. During the day it is easy to just take a walk and enjoy the beauty around you. At night everything is well lit with lights and torches creating a calm and safe atmosphere.

For our culinary pleasure we got to experience dinner at The Restaurant. When choosing and waiting for our food, the waiters informed us about the choices and were easy to chat with and we felt like we were dining with good friends. We were very happy with our meals and wanted to try so much more, but there is only so much you can eat.

We would like to emphasize the extremely nice attitude of the reception staff that welcomed us and made sure that our last days in Mauritius would be truly unforgettable. Even though we had a short stay, we felt like we were very welcome and would definitely like to stay more and again in the future.

This was our first stay at an Oberoi hotel, but by the experience we had here in Mauritius, we will definitely look to stay at Oberoi again and will recommend it the people we know.

Our recent stay at the Oberoi Beach Resort, Mauritius was planned for 2020, but delayed due to Covid. It was well worth the wait. The Oberoi is a tranquil, luxurious resort offering excellent food and outstanding service.

From the warm welcome on arrival; the attentive service; excellent food; the range of inclusive activities; through to the slick checkout and airport transfer; everything makes for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Accommodation is set in 20 acres of well-kept gardens, our room had views overlooking the bay. Spacious, comfortable and equipped with all modern amenities, including free WiFi and a Nespresso coffee machine (for UK visitors there are even 13A sockets, so no adapters required), but with a traditional feel. Large windows allow plenty of natural light and glorious views.

We were on half board package through Kuoni, which was excellent. The ‘extras’ (wine in the restaurant; drinks in the bar; lunch; etc.) are not cheap, but ultimately you are paying for quality; for staffing levels (front of house and behind the scenes) that provide excellent service and the tranquil surroundings that only having 72 rooms in the resort provides.

We ate in the main restaurant and ‘On the Rocks’, the food and service at both are second the none. The main restaurant menu changes twice a week and provides a range of European and Mauritian cuisine including excellent quality fish and sea food.

The beaches are idyllic, although not ideal for swimming (shallow and rocky), however the resort has 2 large swimming pools, one of which is designated for adults only. The sunsets over the Indian Ocean are spectacular and best appreciated from the bar with one of the range of cocktails available.

There are numerous inclusive activities available, we tried a rum tasting, a wine tasting and one of the boat trips available via the on-site water sports.

Every single staff member made us feel welcomed and valued guests. They all work incredibly hard, but a particular thank you to Amanda in Guest Services for whom nothing was too much trouble; to Prakash and his team (Khooshal in particular) for looking after us so well in the restaurant; and to Ocean whose beaming smile and attentive service never flagged from early breakfast to late evening in the bar.

Highly recommended. We would love to return in the future. Certainly, if we visit Mauritius again, it would be difficult to choose anywhere else.

Visited the Oberoi last week. From the moment I arrived I knew this was somewhere very special. You arrive along a lush driveway where at the end you are met by Oberoi staff with a welcome drink and hot towels. I’ve stayed in the Oberoi hotels in India so I knew that the staff were attentive and professional.
Check in was done in our pavilion. The pavilion was lovely, it has a bathroom with a sunken bath and cloakroom as you enter and this leads into a spacious bedroom with sofa and a gallery ceiling. The room looked out onto the gardens with the bay in the distance.
We stayed for 4 nights but wish it was longer. The food was delicious and the menu was vast for breakfast. They change the menu twice weekly so you have plenty of dishes to choose from!
We had a lovely romantic dinner on the beach one night and drinks by the banyan tree. Nothing was too much hassle.
I thoroughly recommend a stay here. There are two pools, a family one and an adults only one. Both were heated. There is also a water sports centre where you can take out a glass bottom kayak or other non motorised water sports.
The resort and staff were first class!

The Oberoi Beach Resort was an absolute treat.

The service was out of this world and the food was amazing. The room was extremely spacious, luxurious, and comfortable with a lot finer touches to further enhance the experience of the affluent traveller.

The restaurants are all fine dining A La Carte and this is applicable for breakfast as well. The hotel has the most beautiful sunsets being on the North West Coast and is an architectural master piece.

A must visit hotel for the luxury traveller.

We visited 7 years ago, and I have spent the last 7 years talking about what a wonderful time we had !
We initially booked for our wedding anniversary last December, but unfortunately could not travel because of the ongoing restrictions. The Oberoi communicated and handled the changing uncertain situation superbly, and of course that made us even more determined to visit as soon as we could.
With the lifting of restrictions this month we were finally able to make the long awaited trip. We stayed at 2 other hotels on the island (which were very pleasant), and then spent our last week at the Oberoi. I knew if I went to the Oberoi first, I wouldn't want to go anywhere else, and I was right !
From the moment we arrived we were treated like long lost friends. We were even given the same room from our previous visit, which was just as perfect as I remembered. Tip - If you want a direct sea view terrace, ask for 316/317/318/319, which are smaller rooms, but perfectly positioned. During lockdown the local wildlife seems to have come into its own. Certainly the array of beautiful birds was very noticeable in our tiny garden every morning.
The exceptional service continues despite the very difficult times experienced over the past 18 months. For example, the bed was a little firm for me, and I asked for a 'topper' (my bones are not as young as they once were). The house keeper came to see me at breakfast and said she would change the mattress as she had a softer one - this was then actioned before lunch ! The hotel cleanliness protocols are very much in evidence, and housekeeping generally was exceptional.
Every morning at breakfast there are managers on hand, who actively talk to all of the guest to ask how you are and how they can make your stay better. Nishal was particularly lovely, but also very efficient as he will actively resolve any issue immediately, and we were delighted to find that Baboo the sommelier is still on hand with an excellent wine list. (Baboo, if you cannot find your decanter, its because we took it home!)
We did the stargazing session during our stay and were amazed to see both Jupiter and Saturn ! We also went to the cookery demonstration and were treated to the most delicious Mauritian fish curry by the very talented sous chef. In fact we enjoyed it so much he kindly prepared the same for us the following lunchtime by request, with added nan bread. Delicious again and much appreciated.
On our final afternoon, we were very surprised to be presented with an anniversary cake. Not sure if it was for last year and the trip we could not take, or for the coming December, but a lovely gesture.
In summary, this is a delightful hotel where the staff are the stars through exceptional service, even in these difficult times. Thank you for making our holiday great.

We rarely return to the same hotel as we normally want to try somewhere new. However, on our first visit to the Oberoi back in 2016 we vowed to return. After 6 years we finally made it and I'm pleased to say we were not disappointed. The hotel is truly exceptional when it comes to service. We prefer smaller hotels in terms of number of rooms and although the Oberoi has just under 80 rooms (I think) the space it occupies is very generous and the gardens are truly stunning. There are several dining options and we particularly enjoyed the Rocks (Singh the chef is a superstar - very friendly and helpful). Rooms are immaculately maintained and all well positioned, Worth noting that all rooms are on ground level and the overall design and architecture of the resort is stunning. Watersports and boat trips (for snorkelling etc) are complimentary and the spa is excellent and there is also a well equipped gym. For us, the Oberoi is the epitome of how a hotel should be run. All staff have a genuine customer service mentality and the management and supervision is clearly very effective. We now judge all other hotels we visit against the Oberoi. Very few come even close. We will return.
Tip: recommend beach shoes for entering the sea.

Dear guest, Both our Luxury Villas with private pool and our Premier villas with private pool offer maximum privacy, as they are enclosed within a walled garden. Our Premier Villas with private pool are located closest to the ocean, however, are not located on the beach. Our Luxury Villas with private pool are located between 50 to 100 metres away from the beach. They all offer views of the ocean from the elevated dining pavilion found within the villa garden. We’ve booked to come this September. Is the weather cold and Is the sea calm for kayaking?
Answer from TheOberoiMauritius

Dear Guest, In general, the minimum temperature during September is around 23 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is 27 degrees Celsius. If you love water skiing and Kayaking then this is a good time because the ocean is generally quiet and calm during that month, although it can be otherwise on some days as weather can be unpredictable.
