The Point is a world apart. A Private, adult only, Adirondack estate on the edge of a shining mountain lake. A Great Camp of the Great North Woods, built by William Avery Rockefeller a century ago as his family’s private home. Today The Point is a resort like no other, a magnificent log retreat full of priceless art and fine antiques, where guests gather as the high society of the Gilded Ages once did at vibrant house parties deep in the forest. As a guest of The Point, the secluded, 75-acre property is yours, the days unfold at your leisure, and the staff anticipates your every need. Each meal is an event, each day an adventure, each night a celebration. It is simple, splendid, authentic. It is a perfect place.

We stayed at The Point for two wonderful nights, along with our Bernese Mountain Dog, and had an absolutely delightful time. The entire staff is friendly, warm, and offers truly exceptional service. Every focus is on making your experience memorable. While quite costly, we felt the expense to be worth it, and so appreciated each bit of surprise and delight (an offer of a complimentary drink, a suggestion of a great activity, the discovery of another fun spot on the property, etc.). If you enjoy outdoors activities (hiking, water sports, boating, biking, tennis, and so on), this is a wonderful choice for a vacation. We never got bored, and could have happily stayed another night. The food was exceptional (as New Yorkers, we can rarely find exceptional food when traveling outside of major cities, but were most impressed at the meals here), and our room, while a touch small, was thoughtfully decorated and still lovely. We also appreciated the care and kindnesses shown to our dog, who was allowed to (happily) lounge in our room while we were out without her, and the staff were all very gracious with her. Highly recommend, especially for a special occasion.

Sixth visit back but first time post COVID. Some minor cracks in the service levels due to the mostly new staff, but confident that it will be back to its former glory pre COVID very soon and in time for the holiday season. This is "must visit" property and experience

My husband and I just finished a 30th anniversary stay at the Point—our second stay since 2015 and our first trip together since COVID. It was absolutely wonderful. The location is gorgeous and the grounds are just as beautiful. We stayed in Weatherwatch, and I highly recommend it: it’s very spacious, comfortable, has a lovely private patio, and spectacular views of the lake from inside and out. The food and wine were quite nice (although rich: in the future, I’d probably request lighter options for some meals). Post-COVID dining is now at individual tables each night, as opposed to the pre-COVID practice of a large group dinner on some nights. I prefer the individual tables, and several other guests expressed the same preference, so I hope this change becomes permanent. Although if it doesn’t, they make clear that they’re happy to offer private dining in your room. For those who enjoy socializing with other guests, there are still plenty of (optional) opportunities to do so. The options for boating alone or piloted by a member of the staff are great, and we very much enjoyed our tour of the lake in their beautiful mahogany Hacker-Craft. Finally, all the members of the staff we came in contact with—housekeeping staff, grounds crew responsible for the beautiful plantings, the young men who charged our car (and even removed the empty drink cups we forgot in it!) each night, dining staff—really went out of their way to make our stay perfect. The entire hospitality industry was greatly affected by the pandemic, and I’m sure the Point is no exception. Many of the staff are young and therefore may be new to their jobs, but they really created an excellent experience. Kudos to everyone for a job well done.

We loved our stay at the Point. Great food, ambiance and locale. Room was magnificent (Weatherwatch) and the staff very friendly. Boat ride and lake to remember. Enjoyed meeting other guests who were eclectic and from all over. Expensive but well worth it.

I've reviewed the Point before, but this time was even better. All the staff are amazing , including all the restaurant people, the boat house, the front office. All meals, tipping, drinks and wine included. I mentioned blueberry bread pudding casually and the next night at dinner that was my dessert. Our friends asked for chocolate chip cookies one afternoon and they magically appeared freshly baked 30 minutes later. We discovered e bikes this trip, they have about 6 which are all new and work great! There is a park down the road from the resort to bike or run with paved trail around a lake. The food has always been great but this time even better, the pancakes cannot be missed, so so fluffy! In fact I think I tried almost everything for breakfast. All the meals are amazing and can be customized if you don't care for the fixed menu. This place is just so relaxing and so good, the staff will try their best to get you whatever you want. The place is really magical, once you leave those gates to go home you will then have to face reality with a little help from a box lunch the send with you. You will be checking your calendar when you are going to return.
