We love Winter Clove! The porch and coffee are our favorite; it is so peaceful and relaxing. We used the new pickleball court, and loved the pool. Meals are always delicious and look forward to coming here. It is a hidden gem for sure!

We had the best Thanksgiving at this charming, rustic Inn. As soon as we walked in and were welcomed by Alyssa, we felt immediately welcomed and like family. The all inclusive meals are delicious and the Thanksgiving meal did not disappoint. Shout out to our waitresses Dina and Jesse! We were never bored, as there is a heated indoor pool, bowling alley, pool table, ping-pong table, jukebox!!, Hiking trails and a nine hole golf course. Plenty to do! When you walk into the hotel to the right, it feels like you’re sitting in your living room. It’s a nice gathering place for all of us adults who started as strangers became fast friends by the end of the trip,. met families who have been coming for years some ,four times a year even met a family from Texas. The staff is so friendly, with the exception of the bowling attendant who acted like she hated every minute of being there. NOT a people person.
We had such a great time we already booked Thanksgiving for next year!
I would mention to bring your own tissues, there’s none in the rooms and maybe your own shampoo because it’s just a little packet. Also, for reference when booking, especially for the elderly, all room start on the second floor and go up. No rooms on the ground level.

We were looking for a real vacation, away from Computers, TV, politics , Cell and Telephones and any other technology that runs our daily life. . We got it. We left work behind. There is a lot to do if you like, or nothing at all like we did. Just relax or swim .The pools (indoor or out) both very clean and refreshing. 3 meals a day, you don't have to worry about where you will eat. Plenty of food, with choices. Sit on the porch read a book or just gaze out at the beautiful views. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and relaxing, you will feel you stepped back in time. The staff are some of the nicest , polite and friendliest people ,who go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as it can be. Our room faced east, and we got to watch the sun rise in the morning. The mountain nights are so quiet, it makes you realize that you may have forgotten what quiet use to be. This is a beautiful place to lay your head at night, and wake up feeling rested. There are plenty of things to do if you wish, or just kick back and relax.. Just do it your way , and enjoy.

I had the most horrible experience in my life at this hotel. The waiters at the dining room refused to serve us.
Every table had a name plate with the last name of the guest as they have assigned seating. We were the second guests to enter the dining room for breakfast and noticed that our table was the only table where they didn't place a basket with breakfast pastries. At first, I thought it may have been an oversight by the staff; but soon realized this was deliberate as we sat at the table for twenty-five minutes and none of the 3 waiters on staff came to our table to take our order. We watched mortified as every guest that came in after us was greeted almost immediately by the waiters and their orders taken. The only difference between myself and other guests was the color of my skin, I am black.

After realizing that we could sit there for days and not be served; we stood up, went upstairs to our room, packed our things and proceeded to the reception and asked for the hotel manager to advise them of how we had been treated. We were told there was no manager on site, that the person in charged was not in yet, that they would call me when they came in. I received a phone call from the owner about 6 hours later, she apologized a few times, refused to charge for the room. She said she would have a meeting with the staff, as I guess being Racist and Prejudice again black people is ok at that place.

Finally, I will say if you are black, consider staying elsewhere.

They shouldn’t call this Inn a “resort”.
The hotel needs a lot of TLC. Very old. The rugs are dirty. Old radiator. No phone or TV inside the room.
Don’t forget to bring all your toiletries. They give you a tiny shampoo in a plastic bag ( all made in China). No tissue box.
Our room had the view of a very old roof top on both windows.
The food: Very basic. Fruit from a can! We paid a lot for the 5 meals. They sold us a package.
The breakfast was ok.
The only good thing they have going is the walking distance To the waterfall behind the hotel. Other than, no. I won’t visit this hotel again.

Dear Loly, Thank you for your recent stay with us at Winter Clove Inn and for leaving a review but I am very concerned to hear that you did not enjoy your time with us. We are dedicated to constantly improving our property and truly appreciate all of our guest feedback. Over the past few years we have made great strides in the improvement of our historic resort and amenities and will continue to do so. I am sorry if your room was not properly stocked with toiletries and hope you asked at the desk for more as we would have been more than happy to supply them. I am sorry to hear that the dining did not meet your expectations, it is always one of the more challenging aspects of running Winter Clove as everyone has different tastes and preferences and as other reviews show we receive many compliments on our dining and menu options. I am sorry to hear that you did not fully enjoy your getaway with us and sincerely thank you for your feedback as we will take it seriously and use it to improve Winter Clove Inn. Best Regards, Lenore

My family has been stuck in the house for months. I have a newly 6 and 2 year old. We needed an escape, but nothing that would be too risky with covid. We went for a winter weekend away. The food was great, and very filling! Everything came quickly and the service was wonderful. Unfortunately, it was just too cold with the wind chill to do much hiking or sledding, but it was fine. We stayed in and went swimming in the heated pool, the kids played with their toys in the spacious two bedroom suite we had (which was a surprise!) they absolutely loved the bunkbed. We spent time in the common room with the rocking horses and books. At night we watched a movie as a family on the iPad in the room. I do recommend you bring heavy blankets, you need to remember that it is almost a 200 year old building, with older windows, and most likely no insulation, so during the winter it is colder, but nothing we couldn't handle. The Inn itself was wonderful to be in and so cozy. This was our first time, and we look forward to going back in the summer. They also did an amazing job with covid restrictions, plenty of space between everyone and everything was so clean.

Dear Amber, Thank you for your recent stay with us and for taking the time to leave a review. I am so glad to hear that you and your kids had a relaxing, fun and much needed getaway. I am also extremely pleased to hear that you felt safe with the COVID precautions and guidelines, it has certainly been a challenging year for all and it is always nice to know that our extra steps and effort is appreciated. Generally in the winter months we do provided heavier blankets on the beds however to ensure proper cleaning and sanitization we have opted for the lighter blanket this year. I will be sure to pass your compliments along tour kitchen and dining room staff and we look forward to seeing you again this summer!

We loved the family friendly personalized service of the Winter Clove Inn. We felt very comfortable here, and the staff was interested in making our stay enjoyable. From the quaint room on the top floor, to all of the lovely spaces within the inn, the bar area, dining room, sitting areas, and best of all the lovely large porch to sit and enjoy your morning coffee! Breakfast, lunch and dinner included were all delicious and made our stay even more relaxing. We took advantage of the complimentary 9 hole golf course with its breathtaking views, the tennis and basketball courts, and the lovely hikes to waterfalls and lookout spots. There is so much to see and do, or just relax. This place had it all for us and we look forward to visiting again!

I spent the weekend there with a group of friends for a winter break and was more than pleasantly surprised. The place is old and that is part of its charm. The beautiful old floors, stairways, doors and decor in general are well-maintained, sturdy and comfortable. We spent a great deal of time in the community room by the fireplace putting a puzzle together, reading and playing games. The food was very tasty although the dining room was a bit cool and needed another heat source though this is understandable in such a large old structure. We did like the indoor pool but it could use some more attention. The rooms are very well-appointed and immaculate. The bed was comfortable, the shower and bathroom very clean as well. The weekend provided a very good workout inasmuch as there is no elevator and our rooms were on the third floor. We also enjoyed a short hike to the waterfall and covered bridge. We found the rec Hall entertaining and played pool, ping pong, shuffleboard and air hockey. We did not get to bowl but hopefully we'll be able to try that on our next visit. The Winter Clove Inn was perfect for our weekend winter escape.

I know many people are now looking to find The Perfect Vibe - aka Brooklyn in The Woods. And I have stayed at and enjoyed places like that. But Winter Clove is way better, IMHO, because it is not Insta and it is not Vibe. It is Authentic Catskills in the very best and rarest way. It is an old school family resort and it feels like visiting your family - rooms are not chi-chi, but they are comfortable and cozy, with antique furniture and handmade quilts. The lounges are inviting and lived in and meant for actually lounging with others. There are board games and bonfires and gorgeous hiking trails across hundreds of acres. There is a fabulous rec room building with an old bowling alley and that air hockey game from when you were a kid, along with arcade games and puzzles. The price includes meals that are not super fancy, but they are very good - there is white tablecloth service and your name displayed on your table. There's a lounge with cocktails. There are bonfires and s'mores. It's probably where The Fabulous Mrs. Maisel would have gone as a kid. I don't want to write this review because it also wasn't overbooked and I kind of want it to stay that way, but they are an absolute gem and I want them to continue to be around for another 200 years (really - the original homestead is 200 years old!!). So go and bring your family!

We visited on a very cold, long weekend in January with our 3 grown daughters, their spouses and 1 grandchild (toddler). The rooms containing 2 queen beds were all spacious, clean and comfortable. The homecooked meals were delicious and the portions were wonderful ( even our 27 -30 year -old males, who consume huge portions, were satisfied!) We enjoyed hikes on the beautiful trails and swimming in the clean, indoor pool. The retro Game Room was a blast! We loved Marie's friendly service, while we bowled, played pool, ping pong, and shuffleboard. Refreshments were readily available and reasonably priced. There was even a Little Tikes play kitchen and assorted toys that delighted our granddaughter! On Saturday night the Pub was extra fun featuring "Bowtie Tim" telling stories, crafting wonder cocktails and performing a Magic Show. We all really had a wonderful time together and look forward to returning to the Inn in the near future! Thank you all.

Hello, Yes, all of our rooms have shampoo, soap and conditioner as well as towels. Our meals are not buffet style but you are always welcome to ask for seconds. Sometimes on busy weekends there is a small wait fro bowling but never anything to bad and the bowling alley also has a pool table, ping pong, air hockey, etc. to help pass the time if you are waiting. We do not take Tee times for our golf course instead it is just first come first serve and we ask our guest to let faster players play through. There is very rarely a wait for the golf course. Feel free to contact us directly at Winter Clove Inn if you have any other questions. Thanks, Lenore

Hi Peter, You are welcome to bring your own beverages to enjoy in the comfort of your room, however the rooms do not have mini fridges. As other reviewers have mentioned we do have a bar/lounge available and therefore it is against our liquor license to allow guest to bring their own alcohol into the dining room, bar and adjoining common areas. Feel free to let us know if you have any other questions.
