Excellent. We could not have even imagined how great the trip was. A first trip to Africa for 1 of the party, who was blown away as to the service, sites, attention to detail and friendliness of the staff. The tour guide was unbelievably good and knowledgable. It was a real winner

What a wonderful 2 nights at Jamila Lodge - the setting, scenery, staff, service and game-viewing were all top-notch! We had sent in dietary requirements prior to our arrival, and were greeted by a delicious vegetarian lunch as requested. The chef then came out to us to discuss our dietary requirements in person, and make sure that he accommodated our needs during our stay. The food was so tasty and beautifully presented at all meals, and the staff were friendly and helpful, and did everything they could to make us comfortable, while at the same time ensuring that they were never too present. We saw so much game on each drive, and Justinus was a font of information - making each sighting so much more special as we learnt about the habits and facts of each animal. He was never in a rush to get back to the lodge, giving us enough time at each sighting, and making sure that we got to see whatever we could during each drive.
The one small thing that could be changed is that the water in the room is not drinkable due to it being sourced from a septic tank), but they charge you for the water in the fridge in the room.I think that the water should be free, or that at least 1 bottle per person per day is provided. Water is provided at all meals, but should also be provided in the room.

What a wonderful trip to Jamila! Our guide Justinus (JustInIce) is very knowledgeable, very patient, and had an answer for every question about the bush and safari. The Lodge is in good shape, and the rooms/chalets are very comfy and stylish (especially the private outside jacuzzi in each room). The only thing missing was a fireplace in each room which would have been ideal during a cold winter’s night (only the family room has 2 fireplaces). The best part is the watering hole by in front of main house. At one point it seemed the entire ecosystem was passing by to have a drink, including me and my G&T. The kitchen and cleaning staff were awesome, polite and attentive. The food was pleasantly delicious and the resident chef Tinashe turned out scrumptious meals! Welgevonden is very well maintained and the animals were plentiful, making the drives always adventure filled. I will certainly return to Jamila and hopefully this time we will find the elusive leopard!

This is a wonderful review Mbez_77! Thank you for coming to stay with us and sharing your story on TripAdvisor. Our favourite part of your review is the mention of the water hole and how the entire ecosystem was passing by to have a drink, including you and your G&T! We are very blessed to have this beautiful outlook for our guests that provides amazing sightings throughout the day. We are so glad to hear that enjoyed Jamila so much that you would like to visit us again. Your Jamila Lodge family will be waiting for your return with arms wide open! And yes, we hope you will find the leopard then. Warmest wishes from the whole team at Jamila

I visited this lodge already 2 years ago, and as that experience was excellent, I went here again for 2 nights. My stay was just wonderful, even better than last time.
The lodge is beautiful, with nicely appointed chalets and with every comfort. What I like most is the attention to detail - starting from the reception with hot towels and welcome drink to the nice touches in the chalet, a welcome letter, decoration with flowers, a hot jacuzzi, bathtub and outside shower, plenty of space, a very comfortable bed. Everything is of high quality, towels, bedlinen, etc. There is a minibar in the room, and a nice veranda to relax.
Justinus, the guide, is extremely knowledgeable and has a nice sense of humour. He showed us not only plenty of animals (even a leopard), but explained also little things in a fascinating way.
Also the rest of the staff is very friendly and helpful, you can sense that the place is not only well managed, but the staff love their job!
Food is very good and plenty, and it was a pleasure to share the days and evenings with nice persons.
The prices are fully acceptable, so I can only recommend this game lodge!

This has been our 5th visit to Jamila and we make an effort to go there at least once a year. It has become the only destination we insist on taking our foreign visitors to. The recent refurbishments and management change has made the experience this time round even more spectacular. As always the staff go out of their way to ensure that not only us, but also our children aged 3 and 7 are treated to an unforgettable experience. All our thanks to the Jamila staff and hope to be back soon!

Wow. What a fantastic experience. Great food, lovely staff and plenty of game. Rooms are very clean and well furnished, you even have your own private jacuzzi and outside shower. Will defiantly recommend Jamila to anyone that would like to break away. Thank you Jessy for a wonderful experience.

My husband and I decided to book a 2 night's stay at Jamila Lodge after seeing a last minute booking special on Bush Breaks. We did not regret this impulsive decision at all as it was completely worth it! The package included all game drives, meals, snacks, coffee and tea, and while drinks were for our own account it was very reasonably priced.

We received a warm welcome at the beautiful Main Lodge and were taken to our rooms. The rooms are stunning with a fantastic view of the bushveld and a Jacuzzi on the wooden deck! The bed was very comfortable and we had everything we needed - a romantic bath, outdoor shower, semi-stocked fridge etc. They offer a turn-down service every night and the staff were always very friendly and helpful whilst respecting our privacy.

The lodge is small which we like - there are only 5 chalets and we were lucky enough to have the lodge to ourselves on the last day. The meals are set up in such a way that you share a table with the other guests (which we are not crazy about as we are very introverted and private) but the staff were very accommodating and event set up a romantic dinner for us in our room! They were willing to go the extra mile for us which we really appreciate.

Overall the food was plentiful food and delicious but not exceptional - however their chocolate cake was AMAZING! They have a reasonably well stocked bar, but we were hoping to find more variety in terms of the sparkling wines - they only had JC le Roux and the one bottle Pongracz they had, had gone off by the time we opened it ... They were however more than happy to replace it for us.

The game drives were great - we saw cheetah, owl, serval cat, lions, elephants, giraffe, rhino, warthog, zebra and many more. We were a bit disappointed to hear that the usual game ranger was on annual leave, but our free-lance ranger was very friendly, entertaining and knowledgeable and we enjoyed the game drives nonetheless.

Overall we had a fantastic time and we would definitely recommend this lodge for anyone looking to have a romantic weekend away, bonding with family or friends or even if you are looking to meet new people. Jamila caters for you regardless of what your needs are. We will definitely be back!

We recently spent 3 nights at this stunning lodge. We were accompanied by a 1 year old, 4 year old and 6 year old. Monica went out of her way to accommodate the youngsters with their choice of food. There were games for them and a babysitter assisted us with the 1 year old when we went on game drives. The meals were delicious and well presented!! Justinus, our game ranger was very experienced - we saw lions from up close, leopard, etc. I would recommend this lodge as it was not only a wonderful experience but also good value for money!!

The problem was the gap between the image created on their website and reality. The food for example was not outstanding at all, just basic game lodge meals, 3 and a half star quality, where breakfast was best. The rooms were all spacious, but either in need of an update or kept in that old fashioned what-foreign-tourists-expect-from-an-African-game-lodge style. Poor Justinus was responsible for everything, game driver, host, waiter, etc. Sadly his mood changed after an attempt to steal a wheel from our car on the guarded! parking spot the other night. Management and staff were not helpful at all to find out where to get new bolts, which left us flabbergasted. Game drives were ok, we were allowed to take the kids, but there was not enough information for those who go to the bush frequently. Sorry, cannot recommend this game lodge. Waste of money.

A most disappointing review after the previous 9 commendations, regarding welcome, cuisine, accommodation and informative game drives. This review posted some 10 months after their stay, has left us to an extent – “off balance”. Management do apologize that this guests expectations did not achieve envisaged standards. Regarding the wheel nut and bolt incident at the Welgevonden Game Reserve, the west gate parking area is some 10km from the from Jamila Game Lodge. Management were informed of vehicle service prior to the clients journey to Jamila Lodge, and perhaps the garage failed to tighten the wheel nuts and in view of the 17km rough dirt road could have resulted in the loss thereof. Regards Management at Jamila Game Lodge

I do not exactly remember how many times I have been to Jamila Lodge (ca. 4 or five times) - but what I know is that the visits are getting better and better! Monika's team is a fantastically trained team of professionals: great cuisine, great housekeeping and a great, great guide by the name of Justinus! You WILL feel welcomed, you WILL feel like being the epicenter of care and you WILL experience fantastic game viewing with Justinus. We stayed 28th - 30th December 2013 and it was really not the first price in terms of 'super' weather- it kept on raining during our stay shortly after the first game drive until our departure. That's nature - we nevertheless spotted Rhino, Lions, Cheetah and Elephant, read some pages at the fire place and had a daily three course 5 star dinner!! Howzthat?? The chalets are wonderfully decorated and feature not only an indoor bath and an outdoor shower, but a private jacuzzi as well!
All in all : A great place in the Welgevonden Game Reserve and a great experience (again!) that shouts for more! March / April, yeah?? Yeah!
