I stayed here in January 2021 and was glad to escape the Covid hysteria in Europe. The lodge picks you up the entrance of the reserve as you are not allowed to drive yourself. The reserve has a dramatic scenery and is allready an attraction on it's own. When we arrived at the lodge they welcomed us with fresh towels and a nice drink. The location of the lodge is spectacular and the views are breathtaking. The public areas are decorated in warm materials and is a mix of modern & ethnic. The lounge with open kitchen gives you straight that feeling that you have arrived in a special place. The rooms are spread out and give enough privacy. The outdoor shower and the plunge pool attracts immediately your attention when you walk in the large rooms. The towels and linnen are of the finest quality. You will feel like a king or a queen at night. Food was great as were the activities. Top guides. This place got a special place in my heart and I will definitely come back. For sure, one of the best places I have stayed in South-Africa. Keep up the good work Didier, Simon and Giulia.

Me and my husband have just enjoyed a wonderful 3 night stay at Laluka.

The lodge itself is elegant and relaxed, with attentive staff and a lovely vibe. It’s nestled in the heart of the bush, with wonderful views out over the surrounding forest. There is a little watering hole and hide, we saw zebras and wildebeest drinking from our room!

The rooms are just gorgeous, with a modern African design. The little plunge pools in the rooms are perfect, with an outdoor shower that leads into the bathroom, it’s all so well designed. Big wardrobe area to keep your bags and clothes tucked away so the room doesn’t feel messy.

The food was wonderful, really special with a real fine dining feel. We had something different every day, including a fun braai on one evening. I’m not vegetarian but the veggie food was delicious as well as the usual excellent meat, including a delicious wildebeest steak. We also had lunch alone by the pool one day, and a private boma dinner on another evening.

The drinks were good value and the staff were so friendly. Something I loved was that we could buy a bottle of wine and drink it over several nights which was good value.

Now onto the experiences: wow! Our guide Tish was fantastic, always getting us to interesting areas of the reserve and keeping up with the radio for good sightings. We saw the Big 5 on one day, which was very lucky, and actually saw 2 leopards! Tish was knowledgable and professional as well as really fun, so we had a great time exploring Welgevonden with her.

The hospitality was just above and beyond, we had lovely sundowners out with Tish on the safari, but also a special sundowners with all the guests and delicious canapés and wine when we watched the sunset. Didier was always there to welcome us back from our game drives, excited to hear what we’d seen and recommend a Belgian beer or a glass of wine.

We also visited Laluka Farm, where they grow almost all the food eaten at the lodge. It was so brilliant, endless herbs, salad leaves, chillies and every other vegetable under the sun! As well as cows, pigs and chickens.

Guilia and Simon have created something so special here, you really have to visit and experience it for yourself. Huge thanks to both of them for such a wonderful stay.

Laluka is relatively new - opened in Nov 2020 but it has all the comforts you want while enjoying great game watching. The staff are very friendly and the facilities are brand new. The food is great and everyone is very attentive. Good WIFI but no phone reception so you can stay in touch. There's also a spa with various treatments. The great thing is each room has a small pool and there are only 6 rooms so it is small and intimate.

I’m just back from Laluka and my mind keeps drifting back to the few days spent in this little piece of paradise. This is a very special place. The entire team at Laluka (from owners/managers to all the staff) made us feel right at home and well taken care of every moment of the day. The food was varied, always fresh and delicious.
The exceptionally comfortable and luxurious rooms are made up of a spacious bedroom, dressing room, a bath with an indoor and outdoor shower, a large deck and plunge pool. A great deal of thought went into the design and gorgeous decor of the rooms and public areas.
The days were mostly overcast and the bush dense and wet after heavy rains in the area which kept the animals and birds in hiding. Despite this the guides kept us fully entertained with their superb knowledge and passion of everything from the Bushveld Rain Frogs, dungbeetles, the unique fauna in the Waterberg and ongoing conservation in the area and much more.
A special thanks to Didier, Simon and Gulia for creating such a special sanctuary and allowing us to experience it.

What an amazing experience we had at Laluka! The decor, view, hospitality & pure relaxation was beyond our expectations. Every need catered for from delicious food to a wide selection of specialty drinks. Most of their produce is grown & produced on their Laluka farm, ensuring true farm to table cuisine. On entering the lodge, your immersed into a contemporary African dream, with carefully thought out relaxation areas to read a book or chat with friends. If privacy is what your after, the rooms definitely do not disappoint, we could’ve lived in that space with our own plunge pool & personalized views forever. A Belgian run establishment that exudes absolute love for South Africa. Thank you to each of you, from owner to barmen, for an unforgettable stay... Didier, Simon, Gulia, Jeff, Leratto, Koen/Conrad & Mo (Game Rangers with extensive knowledge), Emmanuel, David and anyone else we may have left out... you made our stay magical! Can’t wait to be back!

Being invited by a new owner to a lodge I sold in Welgevonden, is an honour.
Following the transformation of the lodge on FB and Instagram, was very interesting, but to see the real picture of the new lodge, was astonishing.
This week I was privileged to visit Laluka Lodge in Welgevonden, welcomed by Didier, Simon and Gulia, the owner/family and their very friendly yet professional staff. To see in real life how a lodge can be transformed and adding value to the whole of Welgevonden Game Reserve, makes me proud and experiencing lunch on the deck, overlooking the magnificent Waterberg mountains, was a big WOW. Where else will I enjoy beautiful set organic food, have wine, listening to the running stream and watching kudu drinking water at the water hole, all at the same time?

A big thank you to Didier, Simon, Gulia and your wonderful staff for your kind hospitality and making me feel like one of you.

We stayed for 2 nights in this beautiful, new boutique luxury lodge in Welgevonden game reserve. They have only 6 rooms, all with private pool, big modern bathroom and also an outdoor shower. The roomdesign and furniture are very luxurious, modern and tastefully done! The atmosphere is intimate and luxurious.
All staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The game rangers are some of the best I had in South Africa. There is also a hide where elephants come to drink on a regular basis.
The views over the hills and valley of the Welgevonden Game Reserve are stunning. Ideal to have a drink between the game drives overlooking the beautiful scenery.
The food prepared is tasteful and comes from their own farm, just outside the reserve. So from farm to the plate! Fresher is not possible.
Their wine list has some of the best wines of South Africa!!
My wife used also used the spa and she was in heaven. The massage therapist was on the same level as the rest of the experience.
In brief, this lodge is one of the best I ever stayed in, they will see us again for sure!!

My partner and I went for 2 day nights at Laluka Safari Lodge in the Welgevonden game reserve - WOW what a lovely experience ! A perfect combination of luxury staying and an amazing bush experience! The Lodge is very stylish designed with European and African elements. Our room was just top - great bed and a beautiful bathroom. Outside a private swimming pool/ shower area and a deck with great views. The restaurant has the same blend of European/African cuisine all served by friendly staff. We enjoyed the game drives - a lot of interesting facts from this unique part of the world. We will be back!!

i can't say enough about this place. 10 out of 10 on every level: beautiful reserve, magnificent fusion architecture and design, exceptional staff, superb michelin-level food, and world class rangers.

we've stayed at a few of the very high end places, and this rates equally with the best, and only 2.5hrs from JHB on decent easy-to-drive toll roads.

100% will return.

thank you to Didier, Julia and Simon, europeans who have made their home in africa, and africa is the better for it.
