Our stay at Ndlovu was most amazing. From the minute we arrived to when we left.
Staff treated us like royalty and went beyond to make sure any requirement we had was met.

Sanet is an amazing host, she is in control of all areas and makes sure that your stay is special.

We have stayed in many other lodges in Welgevoden over the years but have never experienced such perfection.

The location of the lodge is perfect with game continually coming to drink water in the stream in front of the lodge.
The room we had was very clean and extremely private. The plunge pool was a delight in the hot weather we had. The private deck area makes for perfect relaxing and having time out.

The food is made with utmost care and perfection. The chef is exceptional and comes to talk to you after every meal.
Every meal was superb. As previously mentioned we have stayed at other top-rated lodges in the Welgevoden. Ndlovu is certainly the best of them all as we could find no fault. Top marks for an awesome weekend.

Does it get any better than this, when you can experience the bush and feel like you are miles away from civilization, but only be a mere 2 1/2 hours drive from Johannesburg.
Camp Ndlovu welcomed us to their beautiful lodge with the sound of beating African drums and song, nothing makes me smile more than when lodges add these extra special little touches that make you feel like a tourist in your own Country.

The staff always have bright smiles on their faces and are eagerly waiting to attend to your every beck and call. The food is deliciously and lovingly prepared and you can see the chefs take great pride in their work and presentation.
The large rooms feel like you have your own villa which is closed off with a door creating a sense of total privacy. A splash pool and lounging deck area, outdoor bath and shower and a river facing patio where the sounds of little streams and flowing water take relaxation to another level.

The main lodge area is also elegantly decorated and boasts numerous very comfortable lounging areas where you can sit and watch wildlife grazing or passing by, and the large main pool draws you in and begs you to unwind with a refreshing drink.

We absolutely love the feeling the African bush evokes, a sense of complete peace and contentment, but at the same time, you cannot help but feel a childlike excitement of what you may discover or see, and no bush experience is ever alike.

Our rangers, April and Lazarus, were optimistic and passionate, getting us to sightings and into the right position to capture the moments perfectly.
Our morning started off with a male lion vocalizing and then walking off, eventually crossing right besides our vehicle. And that afternoon we encountered a female leopard and her 3-4 month old leopard cub walking along a road and then into the open runway stretch where we could take hundreds of photo’s of this cute little cub, who was curiously keeping an eye on all the vehicles trying to get a look at him.

The Dutch word, Welgevonden, translates to “well found” or “serendipitous discovery”
This magical piece of land transforms at every opportunity, offering breathtaking views of untouched African wilderness and memories to last a lifetime. There is no doubt that Welgevonden is one of the finest places to watch wildlife, sense wilderness and experience the spirit of Africa.

Upon arrival at Welgevonden reserve you will park your vehicle at the main gate and your lodge will collect you in a game vehicle, which is a great bonus as you immediately benefit from an afternoon game drive to the lodge. What really impressed and shocked me is that although the reserve boasts 20 lodges, when we drove in towards Camp Ndlovu we didn’t spot one, it feels so secluded and private and the lodges are designed and positioned in a way that you never see the other lodges. It’s even rare to see them throughout game drives, I love this as it makes me feel even more exclusive and isolated.

The Residence Portfolio have done an absolutely brilliant job at making Camp Ndlovu feel like home, and like you belong. We cannot wait for our next adventure to this beautiful lodge.

Our family of 4 (boys 13 and 16) had such a wonderful time at Camp Ndlovu. The accommodations were spectacular and Sanet’s attention to detail was second to none. Malvin our guide was so knowledgeable and clearly loved his job. It was quite clear that his love of the land and the animals ran very deep. The meals were delicious and presented beautifully. We saw so many animals and enjoyed the herd of elephants that came into camp one night. The lodge staff were lovely and attentive and the welcome song was very special. I would absolutely recommend this camp to anyone and everyone. I would love to return one day.

I had a wonderful stay in Camp Ndlovu. The camp is nicely located in a valley and fits nicely in its surroundings. The details of the interior is simply amazing. The standard is very high and everything is very clean. Staff is super friendly and the food very delicious.

Guide Malvin is just excellent. He knows every tree and rock in the reserve and loves sharing his knowledge. He works hard to give you the best possible experience and does not mind going the extra mile. For example extending the game drives to see what you came for. I had some amazing game drives and I can highly recommend that place.

Everything about Camp Ndlovu is 5 star!
Sanet and her team make sure that you every need is catered to. The food is divine, the staff are friendly, the accommodation was amazing and there is such attention to detail that you will be left speechless. Bornwell is a fantastic guide and he made sure that we saw all the game we wanted to. We will definitely return and recommend this lodge. This is the best lodge we have visited in South Africa.

A few weeks ago I went on my first real safari experience in South Africa. I chose to go to Welgevonden as this was near Johannesburg, roughly 2,5 hour drive and also Malaria free.

When we arrived at the Welgevonden Estate, the Ndlovu staff was already waiting for us with a welcome drink and some snack. Then we drove for around 45 minutes to the camps site while enjoying the most amazing views, nature and animals.

We felt immediately the warmth of the camp the moment we arrived at there. The staff was waiting for us, greeting us and a beautiful lunch lunch was waiting for us.

During our time at the lodge we saw a life kill of a 'wildebees' by two lions, we did an amazing game walk and had elephant and zebra's all day long at the lodge while we were enjoying the sun or a drink.

I just had nothing what I missed, the whole experience was amazing and Camp Ndlovu has eye for detail. The rooms are beautifully decorated, spacious and has every amenity you could wish for.

I wish I could go back today.

Thank you everyone for making it an unforgettable experience.

Excuse the pun but yes, Camp Ndlovu is just amazing.
We stayed at The Residence (part of the hotel portfolio) prior to our visit to the Camp and Lucky, one of the drivers, drove us from Johannesburg on a two and a half hour journey to our destination. From the moment we were met at the main Welgevonden Game Reserve gate by Marvin - an exceptional guide - we knew it was going to be a special 3 night stay at Camp Ndlovu.
The journey from the main gate to the Camp took over an hour and was a game drive in itself.
On arrival, we were given such a warm welcome by Sanet and her team. With traditional singing and drumming - a lovely welcome!
All the staff are wonderful. Excellent meals from Nicolas and Lawrence; unbelievable that such quality and imaginative dishes are created in a camp in the middle of a game reserve. Nothing is too much trouble. Whatever you desire can be dealt with here. Amazing.
I’m not going to list every animal we saw, and there were many but will highlight those special moments - when the elephants came for a mud bath in front of the deck of the Camp and followed it by a good scratch against the tree; when we saw the lion taking the early morning sun; following 2 lionesses to their ‘kill’; white rhino with baby; hippos; being in the middle of an elephant herd (I called this an elephant festival). Elephants were coming through the bush, down the road, even passing close to the vehicle and stopping to look at us before carrying on to meet up with their group. I counted 30 and then lost count. They were wonderful to watch. Especially the young ones at play. Coming across a Tower of giraffe (Tower is the name for a group of giraffe - sorry if you knew that already) as we drove around a corner. Coming across an elephant with attitude, on our early morning game drive, who stamped his feet, flapped his ears, swung his trunk and let out an almighty trumpeting before really deciding to assert himself and charge our vehicle at speed. Marvin, our guide, was brilliant. Before we knew it he had put the game vehicle into reverse and got us out of the area at speed. We always felt perfectly safe with Marvin and the experiences he gave us with the animals we saw will always be remembered.
Nothing is too much trouble here; it’s relaxed yet refined.
One visit will not be enough!
