Camp Ndlovu is perfect in every way, from the minute you arrive to saying goodbye to the team - everything is performed to 5* levels.

Food is fantastic, breakfast lunch and dinner are all superb - their two chefs do a fantastic job and will cater to most preferences - lunches especially were really good, grilled meat or fish skewers.

Game drives were brilliant, twice daily and Malvin was a top grade guide - we saw Lions, Elephants, Cheetahs, Leopard (just one), Rhinos, Hippos - everything you could want to see. We stopped for drinks and coffee also on each drive, Malvin makes a mean G&T

Rooms are all true 5* with every single thing you want, great facilities in each room including private plunge pools and huge outside showers and baths. For anyone who has stayed at their property in Johannesburg (The Residence) then they will know the attention to detail the owners go to in each room to make it unique.

We travelled as a couple, for a mini honeymoon right after our wedding - they whole trip was perfect.

Thanks to Sanet, David, Jack, Malvin, Nicolas and the rest of the wonderful team at Camp Ndlovu - we shall see you again hopefully soon.

This newly refurbished lodge in Welgevonden Game Reserve is a winner! My husband and I have stayed in many 5 star lodges throughout South Africa, and Camp Ndlovu definitely stands out. There are a couple of reasons for this and foremost is the service staff. Sanet and her team made the stay an absolute delight. Martin and David were always on hand to assist with a smile. Sanet is an absolute gem, and very professional when it comes to the guests needs. Her love for her job and team really shines. The attention to detail is another highlight. From the little handwritten notes, to the surprise sundowner spread in the bush, nothing could be faulted. The chilled champagne on the edge of a candlelit bubble bath was the best!
Laurence and his team in the kitchen, made meal times quite an experience. The food was superb and definitely 5 star standard. The presentation was beautiful, and always included edible flowers ... a lovely touch. Freshly baked bread, muffins and cookies were always available, together with biltong, nuts and dried mango.
Melvin, our ranger, was another star. Excellent bush knowledge, a great sense of humour, and impeccable service. His love of the bush and wonderful stories made the early morning game drives worth rising for.
Our treatments with Elizabeth, the spa therapist, were excellent. The hot stone massage left my husband snoring. The calabash foot and leg massage was a treat, whilst sipping on a delicious organic rooibos tea with vanilla.
The lodge is not only beautifully decorated, but impeccably clean. The suites are luxurious, private and huge. There are different seating areas, a plunge pool and outdoor bath and shower.

This review does not do this beautiful piece of heaven enough justice. The Residence Portfolio should be proud of their new addition and I cannot recommend Camp Ndlovu enough.

Where do I even begin??? This was such a rejuvenating experience. I finally fulfilled my wish of visiting camp Ndlovu, which I have had on my mind for a loooong time (as I am also a frequent guest at their sister hotel, The Residence Boutique Hotel in Johannesburg). I brought a few friends with me too 😊😊.

It was ABSOLUTELY everything I hoped, dreamt, wished for, and more. The staff was OUTSTANDING, which became all too obvious to us, given the steady, loving, caring hand of the camp’s manager “Gogo” Sanet. What else could one expect from such an exceptional lady besides a product of world class service. That is what we got, and more. Top notch hospitality, impeccable attention to detail.. we were all treated like we owned the world.

We felt the love and joy of having us there from the very first moment we met the master ranger of all times: Malvin. Then we got to the lodge and the beautiful, warm, caring most amazing manager on duty, Candace was there to welcome us, along with her staff. The experience only got better each day.. the meals, the game drives, the Boma dinners (ahhh! My heart!!!), the Spa... yes!!! You MUST experience the spa!!

I could write all day, but sometimes, one has to simply let people experience things to truly understand what it feels like. This was beyond beautiful.. beyond amazing.. it was simply rejuvenating..

Everyone in my group had tears in their eyes or fought really hard to hold them back as we left. We had spent 4 PERFECT nights of our lives at Camp Ndlovu. I can’t wait to go back next year.. yes, next Year. Because I know the least I can expect is already exceptional, and it can only get better from there.

Thank you amazing Candace, my lovely “Gogo” Sanet, #1 ranger Malvin and the entire staff at Camp Ndlovu. See you soon! ♥️♥️♥️

What a gorgeous place! We have just spent 3 wonderful nights at Camp Ndlovu and were so sad to leave.
The camp itself is beautifully decorated- every room sporting wonderful antique furniture and traditional rugs. The beds were so comfortable that the whole family are demanding an up grade when we get home!
Our children were thrilled by our own private plunge pool which looked out over a watering hole visited by elephants, zebras, warthogs and monkeys.
You know a place is doing something right when you are aware of the names of all 9 members of staff - they simply could not have done more for us and did so with such charm and grace.
The food was amazing - every meal wonderful, fresh, delicious food and so much of it!
Finally the safari itself exceeded all expectations. It is malaria free, big 5 and 3 hours drive from Jo’burg so from a practical perspective it is a good choice. We had a wonderful guide and found the whole experience just magical!
Bravo to Sanet (manager) and her wonderful team for giving us such a wonderful trip!

We decided last minute to go away for a night for our anniversary and we couldn't have asked for a better choice.
This lodge is absolutely amazing, from arriving to the glass of sparkling wine and the visit from the elephant, to the amazing staff, beautiful furnishes and delicious food.
Our guide Melvin was so knowledgeable and made even the quiet game drives interesting.
The rooms and main lodge resonated understated luxury without losing that bush feel.
The lodge is perfectly located on a river which draws game to the area in front of the deck and the rooms. The elephant also came to say goodbye during our breakfast.
The food... Wouldn't have been out of place in a 5 star restaurant. It was wonderful!
Highly recommended!!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in January 2019. The place exceeded my expectations. It was our first time in South Africa and our first safari. Needless to say, we are already planning to come back to Africa in January 2020. This place is breathtaking. It's a piece of heaven on earth. The staff, the food, the accommodations and the game drives are PERFECT! From our suite, each morning I got to have coffee while watching the elephants. I don't even have the words to describe. It's pure luxury in the middle of the jungle. We felt like royalty. Anything we needed or wanted, the staff provided and were so polite. The game drives were AMAZING. We saw the big 5. Every day we saw lions and they were close up too. This was a trip of a lifetime. Don't look at another place to stay. This place is it. The room was clean and super nice. From our bed would could look out and see nature and all of the animals that would randomly roam. The manager was the sweetest lady. So extremely accommodating. I don’t have one negative thing to say about our time there. We felt safe the entire time and we will definitely be back.

It is difficult to express in words the experience you will have at Camp Ndlovu. The service we received from Sanette and her staff was beyond special. I want to give an extra mention to David who took care of our every need at the resort and Melvin who took us on the game drives and created experiences we will remember for a lifetime.

Everyday we woke up to see zebras, baboons, warthogs and elephants right outside our room. We were treated to amazing meals which are on par with some of the best restaurants anywhere. Some of the small details to service I mentioned earlier was the fact the staff learned your preferences as the days went on and were always one step ahead. They knew the wine you liked the juices you liked etc. In addition they had prepared a whole spread when we arrived including champagne which was welcomed after a 3 hour drive from JB. They even gave us a travel bag when we left with snack for the road!

I can go on and on about this place but all I can say is do yourself a favour and go!

Sanet and her staff are an asset to this lodge. Special mention for David who was always willing to help and serve with a big smile. Food was great. Rooms 5 star and the location in the park just brilliant with animals on your door step, no need to even go out on a drive.

This visit was one of the best my wife and I have enjoyed over the years. Wanting to celebrate our anniversary and having experienced the quality of service that "The Residence" has offered in the city we felt to explore the portfolio and experience a bit of the bush especially considering this is malaria free zone.

From the time we arrived we were met with one pleasant surprise after another. The friendliness and professionalism offered by Warren and his staff was out standing.

THE ROOM - secluded from all the others and completely private with its own pool, deck, outdoor shower and bath (not to mention the indoor shower and jet bath) just left us feeling like we were royalty. The bed was as expected lush, comfortable and so perfectly complimented with nightcaps and delicious goodies that surrounded it. Where in the world could one wake up and witness elephants, deer, rhino, buffalo and so many others animals from the comfort of your bed. The room is all that you can expect and more. Its phenomenal ..!

FOOD - was outstanding and the service from my point of view was friendly. One can eat a romantic meal on the deck while overlooking the water hole....So well presented and flavorful ...

SAFARI TRIP - We got to see Lion, Cheetah, Buffalo, White Rhino among others pretty close up. Our guide filling us in every step of the way and then returning back to the hotel where were greeted again by the team with drinks and a warm clothe to freshen up.

Overall we enjoyed the room mostly as it was so well situated with its gorgeous sights and sounds of a true safari | bush experience but equipped with more than what one would expect from a luxury hotel. This was a unique experience for us and we would like to compliment the management and staff of The Residence group.

Thanks so much

Where should I begin.. When arriving at camp Ndlovu, we were overwhelmed with a feeling of tranquility. This place is so beautiful and secluded. From the verranda you can look directly at passing animals and monkeys sitting in the trees. The rooms were decorated in beautiful style, fully equipped with goodies, drinks and even with spare travel outlets.
Camp Ndlovu has a very friendly staff, from the chef and kitchen staff to the manager and the ladies from the spa(who really give good massages!)
The ranger during our stay, named Steven, was a very energetic and humorous person, with a lot of experience in the bush. A very good driver, lots of fun when the hills were steep! We did see a lot of wildlife in the few days we stayed at Welgevonden. The food.. half of our family is vegetarian. Although the chef and kitchen staff cooked great meat dishes for the carnivores among us, the vega part was sublime. Don't expect just 'pasta with a sauce', the chef prepared varied and healthy vegetarian meals for us. All with fresh and nutritional ingredients.
We had a great but too short stay at camp Ndlovu, we certainly want to come back at this place!
