For the price we paid its quite a nice decent place, especially if you arrive in mauritius too late at the airport and don't wannna be on long drive or if your have a late or super early flight and want to be at the beach but close enough to the airport to get there in 10-15 mins. So it was the perfect one night stay to end our holiday without booking a dingy airport hotel, as our flight was super early and the main hotel we stayed at would have meant waking up an hour and half earlier than we had to. The beach is so beautiful and authentic.

When we landed in Mauritius, this was the first hotel we stayed in. It’s location is close to the airport (but not so close that you hear airplanes).

We arrived at about 23:00 so we missed suppertime and the staff actually told us they prepared us a cold platter for dinner, in our room. They were very friendly and so accommodating.

We booked one of the smaller rooms, which I would recommend to anyone, because they have the best ocean view -right on the beach and right by the restaurant. The restaurant’s food was divine! The staff went above and beyond to accommodate out special requests. And everything they made was done in excellence. My husband hates pears -he won’t even drink pear flavoured juice. But he decided to try the ice cream and red wine pear dessert. He loved it! He even wanted seconds! He ate all of it.
The food was a good blend between tropical, Indian and French cuisine.

I would recommend travelling with the bus to Mahebourg, as it is wat cheaper than any other mode of transport. The bus stop is also right by the hotel.

One thing I would not recommend is buying the drinks from the minibar. They were way overpriced. Bring your own drinks for the room.

We love Astroea Beach Hotel and would tell anyone to come!

I was travelling solo to Mauritius for my birthday and the hotel has ensured to give me a very pleasant experience. The staff is incredibly helpful - the ever smiling face of Ms. Yeuldy; the master chef who’s ensured that all my food and birthday cake were vegetarian; the security guards have assisted me to figure out the best places to be in and around the property; and generally the servers who’ve understood my needs and assisted me in best possible way. To add to this, I feel sick on my trip and the staff was kind and generous enough to help me out in whatever way they can. I’ve had a really good birthday and overall and outstanding trip.

I would highly recommend the place. It’s on the beach so you wake up to a fantastic view and can watch the clear starry sky at night. Can’t wait to visit again!!

The room we stayed in was very spacious and there is only one which is that size and its the upstairs unit. The food some days was good, other days it was tasteless. There is a shopping centre close-by for those looking to save some cash. At the time of our visit, the Spur was not selling alcohol. Great location as we were on the beach with private balcony and ocean view, ocean is shallow and depp enough for swimming. We had an issue with water on new year's day, the pump broke and was not pumping water up to the room. This was fixed the following day.

Initially we were pleased with the hotel,it is in a beautiful location and the staff are friendly but any repairs are bodged up. The rooms are surface cleaned but need a good thorough job. Luckily we were upgraded to a luxury room but on closer inspection the bed had two broken slats. Considering the hotel is only half full another base could have been switched instead of leaving broken for a week of our stay. There is no complimentary water, shampoo or shower gel. The breakfast in the morning was either buffet or waiter served depending on how many guests. The breakfast is very good with a wide choice of eggs but alas the evening menu is limited to a narrow choice. This hotel is mainly used for guests to have easy access to the airport.

We had three nights here and were received it was only 3…every bit of our stay here was disappointing.

The only good thing about our room was the gorgeous sea view, the bedroom was small, shabby and run down and the tiniest old bathroom was the worst we have experienced in many many years.

The whole place is desperate for a complete refurb..it’s is the poor ugly sister hotel to Preskil Island,Adrian and Kareena on reception were helpful and friendly …the rest of the staff are indifferent, distant and very slow

. The breakfast is sparse, no choice, hard bread and croissants, fruits sliced so thinly you need a pile to get a mouthful..the waitress got our orders for eggs wrong each morning even after writing it down twice. The juices are cheap watered down and warm……more like cordial.

The cocktails in the evening are awful and the dinner menu underwhelming.

.The sun beds need replacing . There are only two umbrellas for the whole hotel . There are no steps to the beach, just a slippery rocky slope of moving sand . We had no beach towels one day and reception just shrugged and said they aren’t back till 1.30 from laundry…that was it.

If there was a manager we never saw them and no one asked us if things were going ok. Someone with a passion for hospitality could make this little place great. Right now it needs a big refurb, a new chef , new manager , and staff training. We have travelled all over the world to numerous hotels and we don’t usually need to write a review with so many negatives.

Extremely disappointed with restaurant. Dinner was a set 3 course meal. we had nachos (doritos topped with salsa & sour cream), mains was a simple tortilla, dessert was an unset panna cotta. Was a painful experience when we saw the bill as there was completely no value for the amount charged. Do not recommend eating here at all. For a third of the price we could of had an amazing meal 600m down the road at blue bamboo. There was no price displayed and we realized later this is a vacation package all-inclusive hotel and they fleece you on their pretentious substandard meals. We checked out early and will never go back.

What we liked: Close to airport, spacious room, sea views, dining area.

Improvements required: Service staff seemed unhappy (did they like hospitality work, need training or unhappy workplace culture?) and felt at times that we were a hindrance (the service staff unfriendly, unhelpful and felt like service was a chore). A few staff were obviously unwell (coughing and sneezing a lot) whilst working. We were also left waiting, not knowing if we would be served. When we asked a question about an order, we were not given advice but expected to know the answer. The Manager did introduce himself on the first day, helping with our bags. As we only stayed one night, we decided to eat at the hotel which was a big mistake. As noted by other reviewers the meal is overpriced and very average. My partner, a vegetarian, had a small cup of pumpkin soup, lightly coated fettuccine (no vegetables) and two small balls of ice-cream for 1450 Mauritian rupee (approx $50 AUD). Having stayed in stayed in Blue Bay previously, we recommend food at the Blue Bamboo around 8 minutes walk from the Hotel, with a great atmosphere and service and delicious meals or alternatively, if your up for a drive, suggest Le Bazilic in nearby Mahebourg, one of our best meals in Mauritius! The hotel was self was older and perhaps needed some updates however could overlook this if we had a welcoming and friendly service experience, which we had at several other holiday locations in Mauritius and Reunion Island.

A disappointing stay overall, which is a shame as we were looking forward to a more relaxed hotel.

Check in was fine and the location is good. Found out at check in that while our booked rate included breakfast, this was only the continental and we'd have to pay to upgrade to full breakfast - which felt cheeky.

The room was underwhelming. We weren't expecting five start accommodation, but they felt shabby. The pictures make the rooms look better than they feel in real life. As others have said they need refurbishment.

Beach is very pleasant but I gather that guests from another hotel are bussed in, so it is less private than it could be. Erosion has also taken effect so it no longer looks like in the pictures.

We also had a large cockroach issue (quantity and size) in the bathroom (which my partner is very scared of). After killing a couple we eventually went to reception and were initially given a bottle of bug spray. I pushed for them to assist, which they did. When spraying down the shower drain 5 or 6 came scuttling out causing the staff to panic and run out for more tools. At this point we decided to move hotels.

I explained to the reception that we would happily pay for the two nights we had effectively used (including the night we left on), but not the next two nights. They said this would be fine but we'd need to contact expedia/hotels.com who we booked with. The hotel then did not provide the confirmation required to enable this to happen, emails went unanswered etc. So very poor on that front.

Our other hotels in Mauritius were all great. The cockroach issue is also not standard Mauritius thing - no other hotels had any cockroaches at all. So if you find yourself in a similar position do get the Astroea to fix the problem, this isn't unreasonable.

I would highly recommend Astroea Beach Hotel. I spent 5 days here as a lone traveller. The attentiveness of the staff made the experience very comfortable and made the visit special. They were attentive without being intrusive. The food was fresh and tasty and the chef was interested in his clients’ tastes! Tavish and Vik made certain that everything was up to standard. Thank you all very much

Hi it may be best to check with the hotel direct. When we stayed in December 2022 the hotel was not adults only and the hotel team were very accommodating to our family :)

What does the all inclusive option include? Will it include lunch, snacks and drink?

Half Board include Breakfast and dinner(excluding drinks). For the dinner, you will have a set menu where you can choose between two starters, two main course and two desserts. As far as Standard room is concerned, it is a garden view and if you wish to have a sea view room, you will have to book for a Comfort room.
