We stayed for two nights at the lodge. Unfortunately we were not offered information in regards to the local activities. I would suggest booking rooms away from the road as it can be noisy. There was very little hot water pressure in the bathroom in the rooms we occupied. It does however have easy access to all the points of interest that we discovered during our stay.

N'taba River Lodge is a wonderful place if u r looking for a quiet retreat where it will b jst u n nature. Our visit as a newly married couple needed jst dt! The staff is nice, the services r breathtaking. It was a value for money for us. The rooms r nicely designed n neatly decorated. The whole place gives u a warm welcome from day one! If I had to choose again, I would stil pick N'taba! Port St Johns' scenery of nature n leafy, greenly, mountainous-surrounding, makes it a perfect place to hide from the busy lives. It certainly isn't a place to b if u looking for Malls and all dt. Don't b discouraged by de villages surrounding de lodges n think it has nothing more to offer, u will b amazed! We had a time of our lives!

Nicely-landscaped property. I was lucky to be in a rondavel - beautifully-furnished, nice comfy bed and linens, with a view across the river to the huge impressive rock formation. There is a small and poorly-equipped bar near the small pool, the meals were fine, the staff were very helpful and friendly.

I read some of the condescending remarks by other reviewers and cannot disagree more with them. Maybe they are budget travellers who look for cheap freebees. The lodge is simple, clean and serves wholesome unpretentious food. It seems to me that the owners are really into community upliftment and employ from surrounding community. The staff are simple, humble people who are very friendly. They certainly are not as well trained as staff in Lodges in major cities. If you looking for First world standards , please stay away from Port St Johns you will be disappointed. However if you looking for natural beauty with no high rise buildings and people who always smile ...this is the place to visit. Hiking to the adjacent mountains was arduous but the views were breathtaking. To

The place looks good at first sight and some people seem to accept things there and even write positively about it. As a travel professional I can only say that this Lodge is a farce and a complete rip-off. When we arrived we were greeted by a trainee. She couldn't have had less knowledge about the whole place. The answer to every question was: "I don't know, I'm only the trainee." We had booked a superior room and were given a dark, damp room with lots of water running down the bedside wall. It was obvious, we got a standard room and not a superior one and something was wrong with the aircon or water pipe, but as the trainee was left there on her own, she couldn't help. We were told to wait 50 minutes until some other receptionist's shift was starting. We did wait just to find
