A superb lodge with great attention to detail from owners. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. Friendly and warm staff. The owners took a personal interest in my vegetarian meals. Will definately be back.
Together with some colleagues, I recently did some work in Umthatha. We decided to stay in the picturesque village of Port St Johns. We selected to stay at N'taba River Lodge for the week and I couldn't have been happier with our choice. After each day's work, and the rather perilous trip from Umthatha, it was a joy to enter the gates of the Lodge and immediately experience a sense of utter tranquility. There are rolling green lawns which focus your vision on two sparkling swimming pools and, just beyond that, the spectacular river. The Lodge boasts a wonderful deck on the river's edge, from which one can view the ebb and flow of the river. The Lodge very successfully merges Africa with Asia: the ochre-coloured rondawels are beautifully furnished with Indonesian-style wooden…
Well appointed rooms, spacious and views of the river banks are breathtaking, the addition of the Spa facility is going to be an added advantage. Good service from the staff. The garden is designed to be a relaxing spot after a long drive!
Stunning lodge, from the decor - all of which is the most amazing teak furniture, to the copper bath, smiling staff including the incredible spa therapist who rivals top notch Jhb and international spa's, to the staff who smile and laugh all day as they tend to you every need! If it shows up as fully booked call Bugs anyway - we managed to get a spectacular room due to a technical glitch. Spotlessly clean, yummy food - will be back sooooooon!
As it has for the town ,and the river lodge. Both of which have deteriorated substantially .if one has to visit port St. John's probably this establishment is the best pick of a bad bunch!rooms musty service non existent ,even to access the property was a problem.we got an "upgrade " to the suite ,well it was basic but ok ,shower could not be turned hot or cold ,bed had certainly had good use ,and the list could go on ,for R1500 per night no real value ,rather move on to other centers ,tourists beware high risk area.
