The Kraal Eco Lodge is one of those rare finds along the Wild Coast. We are situated in an exclusive cleft between two hills facing the Indian ocean. From anywhere at the lodge you can witness the morning routine of our local superpod of dolphins. Established 20 years ago with nothing but an idea to build a self sustaining, eco-friendly lodge that runs and eats from a successful perma-culture garden. Knowing that idea's don't build themselves, we rolled up our sleeves and built our dream from the ground up. If you get the chance ask Dillion, the owner, about anything to do with living self sustainably, grab an ice one from the bar, and enjoy the knowledge shared. We live and work by a simple ethos, don't be a doosh, be lekker. It's simple and easy to remember so please, #goodvibes only.

We arrived for dinner but we were not attended to for seating for at least 10 minutes (we did book a table prior to arriving). We waited whilst service staff passed us by with no regard. Once we were finally seated, we still waited for another 15 to 20 minutes before receiving a menu or even being offered a drink. The food was the only saving grace however I must mention the service was abysmal. Our waitress refused to give us her name. She did not check on us so we sat without drinks being topped up and we were rushed to finish our 2 course meal even though our mains were delayed as the manager claimed that the kitchen accidentally gave one of our meals to the wrong table. I am deeply disappointed in the management and service we received. It soured our evening and

The place is perfect and the owner is super friendly and nice. He was very helpful and kind. The village around is cool. It’s pure magic there with a beautiful view. If you have a chance to stay there you should!

This place is a little paradise. The owner, Dillon has gone great lengths to create a really great experience. It is entirely off-the-grid. There are ocean views from the bar. You can sit and watch the dolphins surf and the whales breach in the back yard. You can live off the very cheap and very fresh oysters, crayfish and fish while you are there. Dillon is a great chef and super cool guy.

The road are not the best but we like it that way. I imagine the road could be tricky in the rain season. The camping ground is more suitable for tents but we did manage to fit our Motorhome. Rustic backpackers and eco friendly. The owner is a good cook.

This backpackers is an off-beat place that anyone traveling through the wild coast should stay in. The whole accommodation is completely off-grid, and the location is spectacular. The company is great and the food we were served there was incredible. Huge crayfish tail with Thai green curry on the first night, and freshly caught shad cooked over the open fire on the second. Tsweleni, the village it is situated in, is a beautiful place with the friendliest people. Will definitely be back.
