We enjoyed our one night stay at this little converted home. Simple furnishings but very clean and comfy beds. Coffee / Tea are available at all times and the host and hostess are very friendly. What impressed me most was that the host offers tours to Sossusvlei and other famous spots in Namibia in his 4x4 - very useful to save your own tyres.

There's nothing fancy about this place, but it got the job done. Comfy beds, good ac and the staff were extremely friendly. If you're just looking for a place to stop for a night, I'd recommend it. Again, it's not fancy, but it was suffice for a stop over

This place offers a good and comfortable sleep and an acceptable breakfast. However, do not expect much more. The room we used had two comfortable beds, two bedside tables, two chairs and an en-suite bathroom. No TV, but free wi-fi and very efficient air-con. I have to say, in January I would pick air-con over TV every time! Everything was very clean.

We stayed one night in the AmBesten Guesthouse and we were very pleased. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was very good. The owner was very accommodating. Overall, a very good find in Namibia!

We got to Keetmanshoop a little before check-in time but thought we'd try and check in early - no answer to the bell at the property or on either phone number. that was ok with us, we were early, but we ended up having to go back another two times before we finally got an answer two hours later and that was from one of the domestic staff. We were given a key and room number and that was the extent of communication ! We didn't lay eyes on anybody that appeared to work there or be in charge that evening at all, and only when we were leaving the next morning did somebody appear to take our money.
The property was run-down and scruffy, and little effort made to appeal to the visitors or provide amenities for entertainment.

Ok, this was only a one night stopover, but this place is simply ghastly, and to make matters worse the owners seem to be completely oblivious, with a little effort I expect it could be quite nice. We did not get off to the best of starts as we arrived early by about 90 minutes, so i tried the bell and called the contact numbers on the front gate and from the booking details no answer from any, we decided to pop into the town to kill some time, an hour or so later we returned still no response to the bell or either number even sent an SMS which I am yet to receive a reply too! Thankfully the cleaner or housekeeper spotted us and let us in and gave us a key to the room.
Let's start with the plus points - beds were comfy and linen was clean. Sorry folks that's it for the plus point department, no greeting from the owners at all, I mean none not a thing unless of course you count the welcome mat at the door to reception ! The room was painted in what I think people taupe (sort of light chocolate mousse color) and rather a lot of it. No pictures on the walls which means that there is no escape from the mass of taupe. The carpet looked like it has had a tough life and is now into early stages of retirement. There is no tv which we did not care about however the lack of tv does draw ones attention to the ceiling light (mass graveyard for various flying creatures) see picture later. The worry here being the level of cleanliness, if the owners/cleaning staff have not spotted the vast numbers of bugs in the ceiling lights in bathroom and bedroom what else don't they bother with ! The "free" shower gel resembled something that you'd expect to find in a rugby club shower room after the 1st 15 have finished with it. The ac was far from functional and illuminated the room quite a lot ! So no sleep cause it's too hot or no sleep cause it's too light. Thankfully I cannot fill you in on the details of breakfast as we decided to leave early, whilst loading the vehicle up one of the owners or I assume owners made themselves loosely known to us mainly as we were yet to pay ! We parted with our hard earned cash all 720zar of it and started on our journey to Windhoek.

The room, booked as “Two bed, de luxe”, comprised two beds, two bed tables (50x50 cm), one round table, diam @80 cm, one chair. Period. No hooks, shelves or cupboards or anything where clothes could be put. No fridge, no coffee machine – nothing! But a working A /C (needed when temperature rises above 35 centigrades). And the bed was of best quality.
The bathroom was spacious - but no hooks could be found (there were plenty of places where hey could have been installed though).
All in all: As I was travelling solo I use the second bed to put the belongings I didn’t want to put on the floor.
To substitute the in-room coffee or tea making device (cooker!) the breakfast room offered tea, coffee or cocoa all day, so there was a possibility to quench the thirst. But then – in the evening you had to make the proper preparations before changing to night clothes. The nice tea by bedside was difficult to achieve.
Breakfast was OK. Service was OK – wouldn’t call it “friendly” but semi professional: What had to be done was done. I didn’t feel welcome and will not bother this place again. “Am Besten Guesthouse” is translated “The best guesthouse”. So I wonder – is it really this bad in Keetmanshoop?

This rating and review should be seen more as an encouragement to the owners and not a deterrent to people not to visit.

I had an ok stay and since Keetmanshoop is more a stop over than anything else you don't need much more than a place to rest your head.

First of all the owner was very accommodating during booking and agreed to put a stretcher in the room so I could share with my two toddlers.

Three of the five rooms have a little seating area in the front garden and by the time I arrived they were all occupied and people were enjoying their stoep. Which made me feel a bit like a door-to-door sales person standing at the gate, ringing the bell and waiting to be let in.

I was told to drive straight round the back where our room was and this was interesting to say the least. The owners live in the flat in the back yard and it shows There were great big holes from ongoing gardening projects, empty cages of long lost pets, two axes, chlorine bottles and roof tiles to mention but a few of the things scattered about. I feel it's ok to live on the property but there needs to be some sort of divide and privacy.

Because I drove straight in I never got to see reception and it wasn't until the kids were in bed that I had time to read all the information available in the room. Only then did I realise there are free hot drinks available in the dining room.

On the plus side the beds were big, the room clean, the breakfast adequate, free wifi and the children were very welcoming. My kids disappeared as soon as I let them out of the car and had a great time.

Used the guest house as a stop over. I was shocked. We were in the rooms at the back and it is literally in the back yard of the owners. They should put a wall up to divide their own home from the rest. Not comforting to look into someone else's backyard - especially if it looks like that! Rooms are small - no windows.
