Don't expect a rugged bush camping experience, this stop is purely for convenience. Situated directly next to main road between SA and Namibia. The facilities are lovely and each camp site has it's own ablution and kitchenette, with a little patch of grass to camp on. The host is very friendly and helpful as well. It is just a pity it is so close to the road. It would be nicer if the camp sites are situated further 'inland' on the property.

I booked the camp site about 4 months in advance, paid for it and confirmed my booking before I left for Namibia. When we got there, we were told there was no booking, even though I had e-mail confirmation of it, which I showed the lady owner. I was simply told that the person who sent me the mail does not work there anymore. The campsite that we booked was already occupied, but a chalet was available. Having no choice, we took it, with no discounted price due to their mistake. The Chalets have aircon which was a godsend, as you cannot sleep in it without the aircon. Switch it off and 10 minutes later you are sweating. There is no stove in the chalet only a microwave and bar fridge. After we had settled in, an elderly couple arrived and took an adjacent chalet. Their power went off and it took the owners a few hours to get it back on. On the plus side, the chalets are comfortable, and clean which is what you want from a stop over place. The sketchy booking system and unfriendly service however makes it a miss in my books.

nice level stands, some grass, nice swimming pool - just what you need for the long stretches of road in southern Namibia. Private ablutions, clean and functional. little bit noisy due to constant traffic on the B1 route close to site. Trees planted but it will take some time for them to provide shade!

On a trip to Cape Town we stayed at Trüpen Garden, owned by André and Michele Reyneke, just 8km from Keetmanshoop towards Cape Town.

The lodge has a distinct farm atmosphere and has six air conditioned chalets each with two single beds, bathroom, DSTV, fridge and an open plan kitchen for self catering. BBQ facilities, meat packs and firewood are also available.

If you wish, you can have farm style meals, prepared by the owner's wife at the restaurant.

There are also a few camping sites with own ablution facilities and power points, as well as a swimming pool.

You can expect a friendly welcome and the owners' attention to detail makes your stay very pleasurable.

If you want an excellent camp to stay at with private individual showers grass pitch and peace and quite trupen garden is the place. Andre the owner is a great guy and nothing is too much trouble. Try traditional Boer food at the restaurant (really cheap) or just kick back with a beer - Trupen gatrden is more than a stopover we planned 3 days and stayed 2 weeks

I made a reservation for 2 adults and 3 children for the 3rd of January. We arrived at 20H15 without anyone to help us. Nobody at reception! Phoned the number twice without answer! No room for us available in Keetmanshoop for tonight. I am very dissapointed and would NOT recommend to book at the Trupen Garden accomodation.

We arrived thinking we had a booking through safarinow, and after finding no-one at reseption we sat to wait and chat. A lady then came and asked us why we were there and went to look our booking up on the computer we continued to wait and about half an hour later she came out of the building shouting at us for being so loud and disturbing her nap. Then shouted for us to leave as there was no booking.

A well placed property. We came with our own tents; initially for two nights but had to stay longer. There is no wifi at the site. To get to the swimming pool you need to climb though the wired fence. It is not under electricity but initially it is a bit frightful. The dustbin hasn't been emptied during our five day's stay, so we had to put plastic bags by. The so called 'kitchenette' is just a sink. Nothing more. The owner came to cat with us at least twice a day. At first it was welcome but after a two days it became annoying.

Not many options in that area for an overnight stop, but you can not go wrong with staying here. Easy to reach , close to a shop, braai pack available on request. Both Campsite and Chalets recommended

What is Trüpen Garden Accommodation & Camping's direct email address. Maybe André & Michelle Reyneke can assist.
