What a fantastic find. A real gem in the wilderness. The rooms are discreetly private. High ceilings, luxurious linen.Indoor and outdoor showers. The meals are beautifully presented and delicious. We had both dinner and breakfast. A great visa of a view from your own private balcony. Definitely worth stop.

On our way from Fish River Canyon to Bethanie we decide to stop at Alte Kalkofen. And we have not regretted that. Freddy, the owner, welcomes us warmly and points us to his lithops collection. We also enjoyed a delicious cappuccino with homemade apple pie. But you can also stay in nice houses, something we would definitely do next time. Really recommended.

The venue exceeded all our expectations for accommodation on a rural Namibian farm. The staff was very friendly and helpful and went the extra mile to make us feel at home. The breakfasts and dinners was from another planet, really well thought through, easy on the eye and very special. The rooms were spacious, very comfortable and meets all the needs of guests and travelers.

What a lovely lodge enroute to Aus, Lüderitz and Oranjemund. Comfortable rooms, beautiful scenery, stunning to photograph. They have a research centre for lithhops and an extensive collection of plants. The food was delicious - just too much.

Initially the feel about this place was a little weird as it felt like a scene from a cowboy movie. Our visit started off feeling uncomfortable but when we sat down for both dinner and breakfast we felt that he quality of food was exceptional. Worth a visit once you get over the initial shock.

We have spent 18 days touring Namibia and this has to one of the best properties we stayed at. We stayed 2 nights at the lodge and the hospitality offered by Frikkie and Hilde the owners and all the staff was incredible. Breakfast and dinner were superb with freshly cooked meals on every sitting and excellent variety of dishes. Accommodation. We had 2 rooms and both were very well laid out, very clean with all modern requirements and very quirky. If you stay here please leave time to travel to the west side of Fish River Canyon as recommended by Frikkie. Big thanks to all.

Our stay at Alte Kalköfen Lodge was very special. We loved our own spacious bungalow incl terrace with great view. The lodge is very nicely decorated. All of the team were amazing, attentive and helpful. We had breakfast and Dinner at the lodge. The food was amazing. We really enjoyed our stay. For us it was a great stop between Fish River Canyon and Sossusvlei.

When we booked we felt it was a bit high priced, but simce it was the only feasible option in the area we booked anyway. Absolutely no regrets. In fact we felt so welcomed and were treated like Kings and Queens. Very rich breakfast, nice refreshing pool, Kudus and Springboks passing right next to our house and very friendly staff. The money was definitely worth it! Would go there again anytime!
