We arrived at the hotel at 10pm tired after spending 6 hours at Ariamsvlei border wirh all the Covid Admin The lady at the reception was already in her pajamas and didn't want to come to the frontdoor in the street to direct us how to reach the car entrance. She just made a circle hand signal above her head. We didn't now where to enter at the back. We nearly drove over a drunk man lyimg infront of a gate we assumed was the entrance. We had to go back to the lady in her pajamas and ordered her to walk with us and show us the entrance. She was very friendly and apologzed all the way taking us on foot to show us the back entrance. Then she showed us our rooms. The one room was smelling due to a blocked drain. We refused to use it. Then she put us in a family unit but we had to carry an extra mattress to the family unit. It is clear that Covid took is toll on this once smart Hotel. The breakfast was good and the rooms were clean. Maybe some serious staff training can help.

The hotel looks better from the inside than it seems from the outside but it clearly doesn’t look as nice as on its photos.
It’s clean and the rooms are alright though style-wise inconsistent (and could do with some interior decoration overhaul). The public bathrooms downstairs look nicer than the ones in the rooms... Overall ok for a night though. Staff was friendly and accommodating and the food was alright too. It’s convenient that there is a restaurant at the hotel.

All credit to the staff of this hotel. It's simply amazing that they manage to work there without going crazy. We stayed 2 seperate nights at this hotel during our trip in South Africa and Namibia (the nights were seperated by our visit to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in South Africa). The hotel is probably the best one in town, as the town in itself doesn't have much to offer. It is considered the capitol of the South of Namibia, but it is a very small town. It's OK for a stopover as there are limited options in the region.
The rooms were OK, the food very average and the staff, allthough very motivated, also average. We stayed in a relatively new room, with a seperate bathroom with a shower. The room comes with a television and a small fridge, which, unfortunately, still had sandwiches in it from previous guests. The sandwiches were still there after our trip to South Africa, which was a little bit shocking as it was 4 days later. We didn't make a fuss over it and threw them away ourselves.
The music however is a completely other story. When we arrived the first day, we allready noticed that the music that was playing in the hotel wasn't our cup of tea. A mix of poor popular music with as a highlight a song called 'Pizza Hut' (don't look it up, it's more than awfull). Apart from the different taste in music they succeeded to play the same CD over and over again. The first night I succesfully stomached it, but when we came back from the Kalahari (4 days later) the same CD was still playing. Not in the background, but constantly in your face. I couldn't stand it anymore and did something I very rarely do: complain. After the complaint (a friendly one offcourse) the receptioniste changed the CD immediately, as if she was glad that a guest complained so she could also be freed of this torture.
The hotel was average at best. We liked the room, the laundry service and the wifi. But when it comes down to it. The few experiences descibed above are only acceptable if you have low expectations, like we had. And that's why I rated it 3 stars. If I would've had higher expectations, I'd rate it 2 stars.

We stayed at Birds one night on our way south. The enclosed courtyard was a safe and quiet place to park, giving us easy access to our room. The restaurant was in a beautiful setting. The food was good and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The stay here was well worth the minute or two extra to drive in to town.

Situated in Keetmanshoop, Namibia, this is a good basic stop-over on your way either to Windhoek or South Africa. Accomodation is clean, food is ok, and staff are friendly. Do not expect luxury, but we felt clean and rested after this break in our journey.

Last week my family and I (two adults and 1 five year old) went for supper at the restaurant that is co-located within the hotel. We ordered three pizza's and while we waited a round of drinks. While the initial service was satisfactory, we waited over 30 mins for our drinks and almost one hour for our meal. As far as we could ascertain, the restaurant was not very full (only one other table was occupied). While the food was good, the long wait ruined the whole event.

There is a limited choice of accommodation in this town, especially when there are 13 of us. This is maybe 3 and a half star, but do not take that as a negative. There are no 4 or 5 star hotels in Keetmanshoop. The food was great and there was ample to choose from on the menu. Staff were efficient and friendly, the rooms were spacious and clean and had all we required. Wifi was available. This was a very pleasant experience and we will return.

This is my second visit (and review) for this hotel in 2013. The reason for reviewing it again? Give credit where credit is due! My experience was that of a clean room and bathroom, two ¾ beds, making it a huge king size bed, very friendly and prompt service, all this for only about $75 for me and my wife! It is very obvious that the owners are slowly but surely working in making this one of the preferred stop-overs in Namibia.

The title says it all. This place almost fell at the first fence but persistence paid off.
We had a confirmed and pre-paid booking but the lady at Reception could find no trace of it and in between jigging to the Radio did her best to move us to another establishment some distance away. We declined and as there were plenty of rooms available we asked for two of them. No idea what that was all about.
The rooms were large and roomy if a little plainly furnished. Everything worked. They are located in a Courtyard style area where you can also park your car via a secure electronic gate. The bed was comfy in the extreme.
We were only there for one night in transit between Kagaladaki NP and Solitaire but would have stayed longer.
Dinner was excellent as was breakfast the following morning.
That is what we needed and that was what we (eventally ) got.

Our favorite part of the hotel was the back patio area that housed tables at the restaurant, a bar and an inside area as well. We had good food for dinner and breakfast, and the rooms were very clean and refreshing. The rooms seem newly renovated, or just very well kept. Don't be deceived from the outside - it looks like it is going to be a dump from the front entrance, but it is really lovely inside with close access to other restaurants and shops.
