We were to be placed with the Canyon Village but who was overbooked.
This hotel was replaced by the CANYON HOTEL.
CANYON HOTEL is located in an industrial park.
It is decayed and badly to manage.
The rooms are in a deplorable state and maintenance is more than doubtful (we found a baby layer in the dustbin of the bathroom!!)
Entirely of agreement with the opinion of April 26, 2013.
The subaltern employees are sympathetic nerve but the framing does not seem not justified.
Food is the only a little positive point of this establishment.

A bit of mixed bag really. This establishment is dated, the rooms are adequate for a nights sleep, but quite basic. The restaurant serves a very good dinner at a very reasonable price. Breakfast is below par. The bar is a nice cosy place for an evening drink after a full-on day, but a down side is that smoking is allowed in the bar - a real downer if you are a non-smoker and would like to spend some time there before dinner, especially when travelling with a group and wanting a place to meet before dinner. Internet cafe opposite reception is great. Plenty of car park space and a night guard. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

Having had some trouble whilst driving from Cape Town to Windhoek, we needed somewhere to crash in a hurry.

Funny enough we were placed in the same room as last time. Things just seem to have gotten worse. The one bed base was cracked in the middle, ceiling still has the same dry damp marks, linen is worn, only 2 plugs to plug in chargers and a third close to the ceiling.
I could carry on and on. They did however put lemon scented plastic flowers to cheer the place up.

All they need to do is start with one bedroom a month to get this place going in the right direction.

What a disgrace. After our terrible experience, it leaves the question whether the Canyon Hotel actually has an owner, owners or even a manager.
The Canyon Hotel has been an oasis for us as a family. We last stayed there in 2015. Previously as a family we even stayed with our dog and have only fond memories of this.

What greeted us after a long drive was nothing short of dismal. We were greeted by a friendly staff member, who informed us that we could not book in and this at 3pm!!! Please tell me at which hotel do they still clean rooms at 3pm?!

We then proceded to the swimming pool that in it's best description resembled a dam on a farm. So green we couldn't see the bottom!

Luckily Keetmanshoop has other accomodation, which as our saving grace could accommodate us at short notice.

Please, please avoid it at all. And most of all DO NOT TRUST OR BELIEVE THE PHOTOS YOU SEE.

I know I have written about this place before and we keep going back due to my husband having fantastic memories of the place from his childhood but nothing has been done since.
He likes to go here because his name is on the system and he can just give his cel number and his booked in. Anyway we were on our way back from S.A and guess where the hubby booked us in.....

Anyway we seem to always get room 16. The place was even worse for wear than the last time we visited.
Tiles off the bathroom Sink, leaking bathroom Sink, cracked ceiling from old water damage....i could go on.
After a very uncomfortable night in our single beds we left first thing in the morning. Half way on our trip back to windhoek my husband said that he needed to pull over in the next town as his legs were itching to high heaven under his jeans and he wanted to change into shorts.
He changed only to find out that he had been severely bitten by what looked like bed bug because of the size of the welts.

Please do not go there at all. We will not in the future.

GReat stopover, we arrived very late after a long drive from Cape Town with our baby. Phew! We booked 2hours before arriving and it went smoothly. The staff were briliant - we needed a baby cot and room service! both were supplied effieently, with minimal fuss and great patience and understanding. Dinnir was fine, standard hotel fare, the drinks were cold (Beers etc) and the bed was huge enough not to need a cot as we all fit into it with ample space left! AMazing matresses! We all slept like the dead! Breakfast was great - quicik, easy and despite there being a large group we were still given attanetion and assisted with a high chair! I'd stop again for a stopover!!!

When we arrived in Keetmanshoop on Sunday morning, there was no electricity in the whole town. Not one service station had a generator so we couldn't get fuel and were eventually forced to stay over until the next day. Because it was peek holiday season there were hundreds of other motorists in the same boat and all available accommodation was quickly snapped up. By the time we had made up our minds to stay over, the only accommodation left was at the Canyon Hotel. The receptionist treated us as though we were rudely interrupting her day. She gave us a room that hadn't been made up. Sure there was no electricity but it doesn't take electricity to make a bed! She grudgingly gave us another room but there were no towels so I had to "complain" again..
The restaurant however was very good. The service was fast and the food was delicious.

We stayed as part of a tour group. The room we were given was OK but was a bit dated and certainly needed maintenance in the bathroom. The food was very good, both in the evening and at breakfast the next morning (the toast however was a bit old, cold and hard). There was free Wi-Fi but it did not work in the bedrooms - only on the ground floor. The staff we dealt with were all friendly and I found them to be helpful. Although there were some negatives, I would still stay at this hotel again.

We had friends over from Norway and thought it might be a wonderful idea to treat them with some wine and dine at the Canyon Hotel. On our arrival, there were a few other guests as well, but they were not extremely busy at all.
After about 10 minutes we realised that nobody was going to serve us. I called upon a waitress who promised to bring us menus. We were again waiting for about fifteen minutes and then decided to leave.
Enough said!

We stayed here twice on our trip, and both times were good. Easy to find, quick checkin, clean comfortable rooms with great showers, free wifi in the lobby (surprise!), good food at the hotel restaurant and good breakfast the next morning. Typical 3 star place, but for an overnight stay this is perfect. You don't really need anything more. We'll be back.
