Our host recommended we ate here for dinner, it is probably the best on offer in this small town. The dining area is rather basic. Staff were friendly though there was confusion with our order and one of our starters was served as a main. Food was ok but not sophisticated, I would recommend sticking to the meat.

We booked a family room, and were a little disappointed. While the place was generally clean, the curtains in the main room were stained. The main bedroom is next to the compressor for the kitchen fridges and keeps turning on and off through the night which disrupted our sleep. Our unit could definitely do with a revamp, looking very old and outdated. A coat of paint would brighten the place considerably. Very basic offerings but it did appear that the newer units were better equipped. WiFi was the best we encountered during our travels in Namibia. The food at the restaurant was a lot better than we had expected.

Its got a tired feel. Our beds were comfy and the shower and air con were good but the slat blinds don't close properly so you can't block all light or sight out. The pool is enclosed and pretty cold. There are facilities for outdoor fires so nice for a group to sit around.

Awful rooms, nothing like the website. Booked for our family 3 months in advance and provided what can only be described as backyard Accomodation. The bathrooms were filthy and the linen smelt. Staff couldn’t care when we complained. Our dinner was the ladies sirloin, tough, tasteless and days old gravy…given how long it took to arrive didn’t even bother asking for a new plate. There is an extractor fan that runs all night long, so no sleep for you. Just keep driving. Never again! Beyond disappointed. and highly annoyed. If you must stop, take a look at Keetmanshoop Self Catering (Dries) which around the corner, cand you won’t be left feeling cheated and grumpy. Pathetic establishment.

The accommodation was fine. The only hiccup we had was no hot water which reception fixed up immediately by providing access to another room with a hot shower. We had dinner at the venue. The meal was excellent. I had an Oryx kebab. The wait for the meal was longer than expected but the meal was wonderful.

Having stayed here before, my husband booked us in again for one night, when driving from Aus to Upington. I was abit concerned because Schutzenhaus was an old Guesthouse. Then, when we arrived, I was so happily surprised with the recently built accommodation that we were shown. A large, clean room with a big bathroom and safe parking just outside. All one needs for a stop over! That, friendly people and some food1
So, it was also a big relief to find a restaurant in the hotel, serving a wide variety of dishes. When one has been driving for miles, that extra drive, looking for a restaurant, can be deadly!!
As for friendly people, both staff and owner were just that.
Schutzenhaus has a long history which can be seen in all the photos and memorabilia hanging on the walls. We always appreciate places with history and value that ambience of a bygone era.

Stayed here for business in November 2019 for 2 nights, really nice room, very clean and comfortable. Did not meet one staff member who was having a bad day, especially the bar man, every evening came to check I was sorted with whatever I needed. Overall nice and kind people. Food probably the best in town, my colleagues staying at another hotel joined me on our last night as they were tired of bad food and were highly impressed. Well done.

We stayed here after our drive from Mariental to Keetmanshoop.
We booked a double room with breakfast. We received a very huge apartment with several rooms and a living room very convenient. The rooms are clean but need an urgent revamp.
Good breakfast and dinner.
Nice staff

Superbly updated accommodation. Very comfortable and chic.

The rooms may be modern but the bar is distinctly historic. Never really got to explore all the flags and memorabilia which adorn the bar and reflect Namibia’s past as a German protectorate.

The pool is a bit small and like all pools in this region suffers from the sand blowing in.

Staff very friendly and food good.
