We occupied "Sarabi 1" on the shore of the lake and were truly amazed at the peacefulness and serenity of the area. The chalet was clean and catered for all our needs. Lake Oanob is a place to chill and recharge one's batteries!
There is an abundance of birdlife and a welcoming "commitee" of tame cats that are friendly, just looking for a titbit to eat.
Our party chose to eat at the restaurant each night where the food was tasty, well prepared and reasonably priced. If you find yourself at this venue, be sure to take the sunset cruise on their huge boat. The sights and sounds of the lake are a wonder to behold. The only negative factor that I can comment on was the terrible condition of the roads throughout the entire complex. I was advised that the region had had an unusual amount of rain and this was the main reason for their deterioration. On the whole, a serious contender for a return visit is definitely on our bucket list!

Room Tip: Best to get Sarabi 1 if you can, this will limit the amount of travel over the bad roads!

After the good rainfall in Namibia we went on a dam excursion, so without a doubt Oanob Lake would be on our list too. We have not been to the establishment in years, so it was great to see all the upgrades. We stayed in Sarabi 3 (after requesting), although I still find Sarabi 4/5 has better views. The luxury chalets are well equipped and even boasts a coffee bar and extras like wood and firelighters. In such a luxury chalet we found it odd that TVs are all outdated, there was no wifi and no air conditioning. The insects were a huge problem (even after ensuring the nets are closed all the time) The mosquitoes at night were the worst, we could not sleep at all; the fans were unfortunately not helping with the heat either. Hope to see some upgrades soon in this regard to keep up with all the other establishments in Namibia.
But having said that, the views are incredible (connect with nature), they have great activities on the lake, their restaurant has great selections on the menu, prices were reasonable and the staff was competent.
So I would say it can be a good Day-trip too.

We have stayed at oanob previously and really enjoyed it.
This time was a different story. None of the rules regarding noise and music on the boats and campsites were enforced. We were there for 2 nights, and the parties and music and shouting continued until 2am the first night, and midnight the second. I went to management the next morning to complain, and all they did was pull up their shoulders.
I was so disappointed that one or two disruptive groups are allowed to ruin the weekend for all other guests.
Unless they sort this out, Oanob will gain a reputation as a drunken nest.

The website actually advertises it as a quiet and relaxing place?!?!?! It was more like party central.

There is no point in having rules if no one is going to enfore then. Guests should be informed at check in about noise levels, and management should act immediately if a group gets rowdy. No other establishment would allow such chaos to continue at their venues.

I was shocked, Oanob.

Dear Mrs. Mocke We understand you have stayed with us at our resort in the past. Because you had a pleasant stay, you decided to return again - thank you very much. We do apologies for the situation you were in. We had spoken to the other guests; but we cannot go back and change this happening. Even you thought the Management did nothing, we really do want that each and every guest can enjoy and want to come back and therefore different “actions where” done, which you might had not known. Today we also made a point on our FB Page to make our public clear about our rules. As mentioned in the beginning, you stayed with us and we believe you enjoyed – therefore give us another chance to proof different. Once again we sincerely apologies for the inconvenience caused, we look forward to having more visits from you in the future and thank you for also understanding our side. Management from Lake Oanob Resort

We loved our stay at Lake Oanob for 2 days of camping. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the campsite at the waterfront was pure luxury with a lake view and the food at the restaurant was very good. Definitely recommend this place and would come back any time!

What an experience. We stayed in Pumbaa, beautiful bungalow. The Nyalas stayed around our bungalow the whole day, which was awesome. But, our chalet was extremely dirty 🤢 The toilets we clogged, bedroom upstairs' shower door was broken, when toilets were flushed the sewage came up in the shower. I tried to call reception before 6pm as they said they close at 6pm but no answer. A place does not have to be clean to be new! The 10 cats were a nuisance, cannot leave any food out on the table by the braai then they grab it! Would love to come visit again but the place needs a proper clean. Staff were very friendly.

Thank you for visiting our resort. It is our aim to improve with every visit, and we appreciate the feedback we received from you. We would like to apologize for the inconvenience you experienced during your stay at our resort last week. After inspection regarding the cleanliness of the chalet, we would like to inform you that Pumbaa's roof was renovated 3 weeks ago, but there is still dust that falls off, especially when it’s windy, and after, it will look like it was never cleaned. We shall have it blocked and have it checked on a daily basis until the situation improves. Thank you once again for your feedback, and once again, we are very sorry for the inconvenience, and we look forward to hopefully seeing you again soon. Lovely greetings from Management

Had a lovely stopover here on way to South Africa. A stunning camping spot where we found we didn’t even have to pitch our tent. There was an attic room under thatch where we put our mattress!
Gorgeous view overlooking the lake and I had a mignificent swim in the lake.
We were surrounded by three Siamese and three grey cats who seemed desperately hungry. They slept under our car. And drank a litre of milk in the morning!!
Only downside was no signage to campsites, and we spent half an hour trying to find out spot which was just near reception. Map was not at all clear.
Reception staff very friendly. Didn’t try the restaurant as we had our own food.
Definately one of the best campsites we have been in this trip!
Also saw that they have a Spa with full body massage for 500 dollars. Wish I’d known about it before I was leaving!!

We came here thé first night after we landed in Windhoek. It's a 2 hour drive from the airport so it's doable. You drive into a guarded gate to thé park. When we arrived at thé reception we got greeted by a friendly guard. He showed us thé way to our chalet and booked thé restaurant for dinner. We stayed in Nala, a great chalet at thé side of thé lake. Really amazing views and disconnected from thé hectic life. Just relax and enjoy. Thé restaurant was also very good, great good, would recommend thé trio of game meat.

Wow. Cottages, rooms situated around a huge body of water. Really scenic and peaceful. Would love to have spent more than one night as lots of activities to do. Swimming, sailing, fishing etc. a basic restaurant, but food very tasty. This is resort you need to spend at least a weekend or week enjoying

Great accommodation close to Rehoboth, at the start of a long road trip. We actually got here straight from the airport, with a good welcome and a nice place by the lake to park our camper. Plenty of space, good amenities. As a nice touch, an interesting bird sanctuary is here for watching cool birds. The road to this resoet is very rough though, not very well maintained so be careful and try to book a 4x4.
