As the evening sky turns into a red glow you sit back, high above the river, enjoying a chilled drink while listening to the deep grunt of hippos – this experience awaits you on the sundowner deck of Namushasha River Lodge on the Kwando River in eastern Caprivi. Situated 24 km south of Kongola, it is the perfect stop-over en route to the Victoria Falls. Apart from 24 rooms in chalets the lodge consists of a restaurant, a bar and a swimming pool. Watch elephant, hippo, buffalo or sable antelope on our excursions by boat or off-road vehicle, visit a traditional village in the vicinity or take time to observe the colourful birdlife (more than 400 species).A camping site for 16 tents pitched on lawn is also available at Namushasha.

Namushasha has always been a special place for us and this stay did not disappoint. The camp sites are exceptionally well kept and Toyana (the camp right hand man) was always friendly and helpful and we never had a cold shower. The guides were very capable and any excursion is great value for money.

We camped for one night at Namushasha River lodge, they have private campsites with private ablution facilities that were neat and clean, each campsite has a river view and it was lovely to spend the night there. A great stopover when travelling through the Caprivi

We camped at Namushaha. There are just a few campsites. They are big and well maintained. Nice grassy area, a lapa to shelter from the rain and good ablution facilities. They have a view of the river and are a 5 minute walk from the main lodge and closer than the Camping 2 Go. The lodge itself is nicely situated and very green. Facilities there are adequate. Gondwana staff was helpful and friendly as we have come to expect. The boat cruise was exceptional with a very good guide and loads of hippos. Good refreshments on the boat. Reception gave us some water for the trip upon departure which was a nice touch. The lodge has a small pool which is welcome to cool down in the humid climate but probably too small when the lodge is booked to capacity. However we were one of few guests. The deck is very nice overlooking the kwando river. Nearby Mudumu park is worth a visit bit strictly 4x4 and even then better with 2 cars as we got stuck and took 2 hours to get out.

Friendly welcome, lodge well integrated in nature, enjoyed the Camping2go accommodation in the most distant tent. Memorable experience was the hippo boat trip - being chased by an irate hippo. Dinner excellent.
