We stayed for 2 nights in the tree houses. We did not expect what we got:
At check-in I aksed for the key and got: "the key is under the mat" as a reply. Little did we know there aren't any doors. The make shift reet sheets roll down to pose as doors. This took getting used to. We are not used to not being able to lock ourselves in at night, nevermind the insects and animals that could crouch onto us. But.... we had no insects, no mosquitos, no weird sightings of any kind. The beds are comfy and mosquito nets are there, the bedding is white and wonderful. The shower is free in the open and the water is fantastic warm (if you shower at night as it uses solar only and is icecold in the morning). You will not get closer to nature and the hippos than this. 13 hippos playing an lying lazingly in the morning sun that bathes your house and terrace. It was breathtaking!!!
I missed my morning coffee at the house. Coffee and tea is freely available at the reception/restaurant area all day long which was great as it was really cold those two days, but the houses itself do not have any coffee/tea facilities.
We loved the quirky funny sayings on boards, the decor in the toilets and all the mischief.
Dinner was one of our best on our trip. Hearty, homecooked, freshly baked bread, fresh salad, great veg and the meat was exquisite. Breakfast was also fantastic. Staff is friendly and lovely.
Here you come to experience a once in a liftime stay.

Stayed at one of their Riverview campsites, well kept campsite, with lawn and tree's for shade during the hottest times of the day. Funky but clean bathrooms, shared between campsites. Very friendly staff, backpackers atmosphere at the reception and bar, great place to have a beer and meet other international travellers.
Unique pool situated inside the river, had one great home cooked meal from the kitchen one evening on the deck overlooking the river.
Would recommend.

I am backpacking Africa and heard about Ngepi Camp from other travellers. From my first outreach via email, I was warmly welcomed to the camp. I have some dietary restrictions, so I usually try to reach out ahead of time to ensure that I can eat, especially at more remote places where it is harder to get to town to get food (if it exists). The chef and waitstaff were incredibly accommodating, even making me a separate portion of the set dinner menu to make sure I could eat what was being served. I had planned to stay two nights but extended a third, and would have stayed even longer if my travel plans allowed. I love the intentionality that the owner Mark has put into creating Ngepi Camp, and I felt very welcome and at peace on the grounds. Each campsite is nicely separated from the others, so you feel like you have privacy and a spot all to yourself. There are plenty of showers and toilets on site that sharing was never an issue. There are tons of incredible support staff keeping the grounds and facilities in order too. I overheard other campers comment how nice it was to just spend a morning at the camp and not rush off to activities, and I couldn’t agree more. You will want to linger at Ngepi while you are there. Plus, there’s so much wildlife to be viewed from the dining deck, you’re basically already on safari! Though there are plenty of activities offered by the camp, if you desire. Boat trips and mokoro (canoe trips) I saw going out daily, and if you’re at least four you can get a game drive too. I can’t recommend Ngepi Camp enough. Enjoy your time there — I hope to be back soon myself!

I have been travelling for 50 years and this lodge is the worst one I ever been, although the location on the banks of the river and wood hauses are real nice and nature pure. For camping might be great but not for a lodge. There Was no hot water, no soap, no shampoo, no electricity in the morning.Service extremly slow, at breakfast and lunch you had to wait almost one hour for your order, at least dinner was server on time. Higly not recommended. Look for another lodge along the river bank..

What a location and what potential but I have to say we were disappointed with certain things. No drinking water at all without paying for it. No tea/coffee in rooms, dinners were really bad, breakfasts great. We were told tea/coffee was at the bar but when we ordered a filter coffee, we were charged $25! Asked for coffee to be bought to rooms and it never arrived. Asked for pool towels at reception but was told we could not use lodge towels but they didn’t have pool towels either. At $1200 a night for a group of 10 of us, I did feel it could have been better managed. What a pity as the location is out of this world. In our opinion, just badly managed. The campsite was busy but the bush suites were not,

We stayed here for one night camping during our recent tour of Namibia. The camp sites are set amongst the trees and very close to the river, so close that during the night the Hippocampus walked within feet of our tent. The ablutions are what can only be described as Quirky, functional but be prepared for little privacy. We took our evening meal in the dining area where Free WiFi was available. Maybe because there weren’t many guests we ate in a very small area behind the bar which was quite cramped. The food however, was delicious, freshly cooked and piping hot. Plenty of free Tea & Coffee. Would stay here again even though we were slightly taken aback by the ablution facilities. Staff very friendly. Recommended.

The campsite has nice grassy pitches and quircky unique bathrooms. Hippos roam the campsite at night so be careful and carry a torch when walking in the dark. The communal areas are well maintained, but the evenings may be a bit loud.
We did a game drive with Gilbert and he is awesome.

Our fourth visit with friends and I would love to go back again and again. I really envy those who call this place home. Our tree hut was on the river's edge. Hippo tracks next to the walkway. Lions and Elephants having a battle on opposite side of the river. Too many birds to count. It stays magical. Yes, you can see the sad effects of a Covid driven lockdown and lack of tourists, but these are minors compared to the experience. You feel one with nature(especially if you go for a swim in the crock pool). Ngepi FM has a very special sound and we LOVE it. The huts are comfortable and overlook the river. We spent two nights there and slept with the "doors" open. Only the mossie net as a covering. You wake up in the morning with a magnificent view of the river and all the activities around the water. The all day breakfast is a treat. friendly staff. We asked for a take away breakfast on the day we left and were treated to home made rolls, eggs juice and fruit. Service with a smile. If you want to experience nature at its best, make a booking. Remember this is not a 5 star city hotel, if is Africa as it needs to be lived. Get a life!!

We had a wonderful stay at Ngepi Camp. The property was quirky, unique with funny one liner written on boards throughout the property. It was lush green and tranquil. Comfortable basic accommodations and a range of outdoor activities.

The general manager, Devalier (called Devy), manages the place with a lot of passion and devotion. He shows true leadership through his courage. For example, when it was time for us to turn in for the night, he insisted on accompanying us to our rooms as he suspected that hippos might be wandering around on the property.

He also demonstrates true leadership through his passion and communication, explaining well what he does and why. Devalier is authentic; he is genuinely decent person who can connect with everybody. Finally, he shows true leadership by his problem-solving skills. We missed the departure of a boat cruise on the Okavango Delta, but he found a way for us to go on the river anyway. To work and live in Ngepi must be hard, and this in itself shows Devalier’s formidable adaptability skills. Only respect for him.

Do you also rent tents if we dont have our own? How much?

Don't think they have tents for rent but you can always book a cabin/room when available. As we were there in sept 2019 there was still some vacancy. If you want to know how they look like look the pics here on tripadvisor and their website as for vacancy and rates.

Hello Dcareaworldtraveler, Thanks for your question. I would suggest that you tentatively book for the dates that you think may be suitable for you now, and then you can modify closer to the time. at least it gives us the space to juggle around a bit to accommodate you if there is a change. Thanks Mark

We stayed at campsite 3 and 4 and found them to be awesome, big grassy area and right in the river and really close to the bar/restaurant. We also had the roof top tents and parked right next to the grass facing the river so awesome views when you wake up in the morning ☺️ Enjoy your time there, Ngepi is stunning and I can't wait to go back.
