I spent five days in this very unique resort. I was given an ocean view room with a small discount as the basic rooms were sold out. The room had an amazing sea view from its balcony and also from the inside. The sound of the water was so relaxing, almost hypnotising. Both the balcony and the room lacked privacy. The balcony was shared with two more rooms and the rooms had almost no noise insulation. The basic rooms/bungalows seem to have a bit more privacy and were only few meters further from the sea. In terms of comfort my room had everything I needed. Hot water, a fan, filtered potable water and it was cleaned daily except of the day when I forgot to indicate it. In order to have your room cleaned you have to indicate it with a funny system on the wall. Funny enough the default is not to clean. I think it should have been the other way around. There was also a mosquito net but mosquitos were a real problem so I suggest that you bring an electric mosquito repellent with tablets. I think this is the only important thing missing from the room. Food was mainly seafood and nice if not very abundant. No problem with it. The sea in from the resort was clean and very nice while not exceptional. It was better on the left side where the basic rooms were. My ocean view room was close to the less pleasant part of the beach. I had an amazing snorkeling trip to nearby islets where I spotted a manta ray. The guide was very helpful and discreet. The islets looked like paradise except of the few litter on the beach. All the staff in the resort was very helpful.
As a bottom line, the resort had a few shortcomings but considering its location and the difficulty of having basic commodities and services in such a remote area it fully deserves a five-star rating.

We search high and low for places like this: friendly, stunning, remote, safe, active yet restful, genuine, relaxed Africa.
Anne began our PADI open water on a pristine reef off one of the islands you gaze at from the lodge beach, in the clearest water imaginable. Miraculously we all equalised, with her help, and had an incredible week of diving and adventures by boat.
If you don’t like boats you can swim 200/300 from the beach and find yourself snorkelling over amazing local reefs before breakfast. Two resident turtles hang around eating sea grass on the way back.
The Comoros are full of the most exceptionally decent, friendly people but Laka Lodge tops it all - thank you everyone for the most wonderful holiday. Somehow we will be back!

We stayed at Laka Lodge for six nights around new year and had a great time! We went kayaking, snorkeling, diving, hiking and we of course enjoyed the super nice private beach. We much liked all the activities and the highlight was when we snorkeled with a couple of manta rays. We went during the rainy season, which meant it was quite cloudy, but it only rained a few times.

The staff was very helpful and nice. Food was excellent and they manage to vary the dishes a lot, despite all being fish. There was also the option to have chicken, beef or vegetarian food if you let them know in advance.

Although the location was beautiful, you have to keep in mind it being in a remote part of Africa. The downsides were mainly that there were a lot of mosquitos and that it was a bit hot in our room during the night (fan only, no AC). We also had some ants in our room one night, but the staff helped us with some bug spray that quickly got rid of them. Getting there worked fine for us, but the roads are bumpy.

We would highly recommend Laka Lodge for the adventurous travelers looking for a beautiful place off the beaten track.

Laka Lodge is the only eco accomodation on the most pretty island of the Comoros! This island and the location of Laka Lodge is one of the most remote AND most fantastic places I have seen on earth!

Around 15 bungalows are based righ on a private beach. There is also a pretty beach on the other side (2 min walking) facing the awesome islands (Marine Parc) where you can dive and snorkling.

The owner is a fantastic Belgium guy and has a great team running Laka Lodge locally. Without their assistance I would never have seen so much of the Comores. They help you with everyting like taxi's, tours (also Mt Karthala on Grande Comoros) and booking tickets for the various (they have 3) to the other Islands. Two of them do not have a website, so organising a ticket yourself is almost impossible.

They also have to Maki's on their ground which you can feed banana's everyday at 17:00!

So, if you want a fabulous place in a unspoilt tropical Island in the with right in the middle of a local African community, go to Laka Lodge, you will not regret and never forget!

Considering the off-location, they are able to provide top services. The bungalows are quite simple (standard), but the food is amazing all prepared from local ingredients and fresh fish. Food, accommodation and the transport from the airport (otherwise of the Island - 1.45 h drive) is all included in the price. I find this very cheap. Well done... :-)

Laka Lodge is a beautiful hide-away surrounded by coral reefs in delightfully good condition. It takes some effort to reach this hotel and if you are arriving by boat, please note that it's not the route for anyone with mobility challenges.

The hotel area is beautiful. Private beach, nice garden, a number of activities available. The main building has WiFi. The local village is just outside the gates. Please note that there are no restaurants in the village, the one in the hotel is the only one. Luckily the food at the hotel is very good.

Rooms are mostly in bungalows with two rooms a bungalow. They have a beautiful view from the terrace. The rooms are fine although basic. The hotel provides drinking water that you can take from the main building to the rooms. There's one towel per person, a piece of soap and mosquito net. You might want to bring your own shampoo and a travel towel as the towels are not changed and you might end up using the one at the beach, snorkeling and shower. Room for improvement? Our room was not cleaned once during our stay and the sand becomes an issue inevitably. Also the trash bin (located outside on the terrace) was only emptied on our last day.

This place gives you an opportunity to wind down: read a book, enjoy sunsets, talk with people.

Lake Lodge was the perfect place to truly relax for a few days in Mohéli. The semi-detached bungalows are quite small, but enough to store your luggage and head to the beach. There's a small desk and a chair in case you really have to do some work. The bathroom has a layout that is somehow similar to many Comorian ones: washbasin, followed by a shower (with no screen), and lastly the toilet. Seeing the shower has no screen, it is expected that there's water everywhere and that you get your feet/shoes wet when going to the toilet. But this is a minor detail, because what really matters is that you want to head to the beach or do an activity and have a good time.
The beach is literally 10m away from the bungalow door. If you are the cautious type and do not want to sunbathe during those hours when the sun is up high, you can relax on the balcony and take in the fresh air.
The beach has relatively calm and warm water, therefore you don't give it a second thought when you want to take a dip or go for a swim. Contrary to most of the other beaches on Mohéli island, here one can sunbathe or swim in a swimsuit or bikini without the disapproving looks of locals.
The lodge's grounds are surrounded by trees, which gives the place a nice cool breeze, even on hotter days.
If you get tired of just lying on the beach, there is plenty to do, from whale watching, to boat tours and scuba diving around the Mohéli Marine park (a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve), to hiking or kayaking. I recommend the boat tour with snorkelling or scuba diving, because the marine life in the reefs is absolutely amazing — I saw at least 20 types of fish and I was only scuba diving. I also did a hike across the island, from Bangoma to Nioumachoua, which gave me the opportunity to see the the forest from up and close, as well as several breathtaking views of the island from atop the second highest mountain on the island. We tried to book a whale watching tour but, even tough it was the right time of the year, there were no whales at the time.
The meals are included in the price and we were quite happy with all of them.
The staff was very friendly, welcoming and helpful.

This place is a real paradise and it is even relatively easy to arrive. They are helping with travel permits, booking tickets for boats and airlines etc. They are really making everything very smooth for tourists arriving directly from Europe.

Everything is clean (also private beach) and well-maintained. The staff is great, there is always somebody to help if needed for example with planning trips around Moheli island. Laka Lodge is offering multiple interesting excursions. I went to see Livingstone bats (these animals are huge), Ouallah waterfall and I did snorkeling pretty much for the first time in my life, even I was not planned to do that! So cool to see various kind of corals and colourful fishes. It was the best thing ever!

I stayed only three nights at Laka Lodge and it was a bit too short time. If you want to visit very remote place, relax on the private beach, enjoy great food and snorkeling in coral reefs, this is the best place for that.

I have spent two nights at Laka Lodge and it was wonderful! It's a trully oasis in Comoros. The bungalows are well equiped with fan, hot shower, mosquito nets, drinking water and ocean view.
Just in front of the bungalows you find a private beach, parasol and confortable beach chairs. From Laka Lodge you also have access to the public beach, which is amazing for snorkling (I have swum with a turtle there).
The staff is very friendly, and they love when we try to speak the local language.
Food is delicious and they use local spycies which makes the food unique!
Something very special about this place is that they are very environmental responsible, they have solar painels for electricity, most of the vegetables come from their own garden and they are very respectful with the local people and culture.
Laka Lodge offers a variety of tour to do around Mohéli. I did only the snorkeling boat trip, which is a must!
I took the Laka Lodge boat from and after to Grand Comore, and got a little wet, but in general it was a smooth trip.
If you are going to Comoros, I strong recommended that you take some days to stay at Laka Lodge.

The team at the lodge is incredibly welcoming, easy going and go out of their way to solve any kind of problem - be it organising Covid tests or last minute transport issues. Even though the prices here seem higher than other options, it works out reasonably considering it includes full board (the food is great). The diving team is top notch and the diving sites are breathtaking. This is the place if you are looking for a relaxed place a little off the beaten track.

Hey, you can book the tickets yourself if you are in Moroni by going to the airline office, but when I was there, online bookings were not possible. I was sceptical as well, but the owner lives in Slovenia (I met him by chance), hence the bank account. It's totally fine and they are very trustworthy, no worries. Enjoy your trip!
