Probably the best value for money in Ndola. I would recommend this Guest house to anyone. Great gardens and spacious rooms. Very Clean and Hospitable. Vet close to shops and restaurants within driving distance.
I stayed at the guesthouse for a few nights, and based on what I understand from other people I met, it is a great value for the area. I found it however to be quite an average place. The room: dusty shelves; spiders and their webs in closet; toilet wasn’t fully cleaned (I had to do so myself). The furnishings: received an old smelly (but I presumed clean) towel; outdated furniture; mosquito net doesn’t fit on bed; old window panes falling apart. Electricity: no communication with guests regarding when the power would be cut off. Candle in room, but no matches. Service: no information provided on arrival (I had to search and ask for information on WiFi, food, and everything else); staff seem bored and uninterested in guests. They seem to be doing just enough to get by, which I suppose is possible in a place like Ndola where options are limited.…
I spent a week at Katuba Guest House for work. The people who were what made this place fabulous. Anytime we had a question or request they were incredibly helpful and responsive- they found solutions! I had a few business meetings at Katuba Guest House- we sat outside under the gazebo- and I had the staff cater food for it. They did not disappoint in their meals! The rooms were clean and nice. Each one had a mini-fridge which was a huge added bonus. The showers were hot, the mattress comfortable. And they had two sitting chairs in the room too which was nice! I would highly recommend staying here.
I have been to Katuba a Number times. The place is clean, the staff pleasant and they go out of their way to meet your every need. Also The prices are also very affordable. Sometimes you have last minute trips and they will accommodate you at short notice.
Traveling to out of the way places has been my life as a film-maker/photographer/writer, and finding rare gems in which to stay after a long assignment is an incredible treasure — such is the Katuba Guesthouse in Ndola, Zambia. Everything about it is lovely — from its garden setting in a quiet better/safe neighborhood of the city, to its clean rooms, hot shower, relaxing exterior to sit and write, clean equipment, or read - and yes, wifi too. The small staff is incredible polite and welcoming. And they offer home cooked simple meals right there - breakfast and dinner - or should you want there is a nice little pizzeria a few blocks walk. I rated this 5-stars because it is a gem considering where it is - not in Dubai, or Paris, or Hong Kong - in Ndola, heart of the Zambian copperbelt, something so lovely should not be here - but yet it is exactly where it should be. After a month on assignment the last thing one wants is a hotel in a city - this is a guesthouse with all of the charm, gentleness and dignity that one could ever want. Single room Kwatcha 400/night - Family suite K900/night Dinner K60 person…
