We had the pleasure of spending five nights at Amanzi with our young nephews, ages 8 and 10. For us adults, it was our tenth safari and our second in Zambia; for the boys, it was their first time on safari. Our experience at Amanzi was unforgettable. Beautiful siting along the Zambezi and comfortable, luxurious accommodations aside, what makes this camp so special are the wonderful people. The camp manager Solomon (Solly) is always on the ready with a warm laugh and a good story. Our guide, Prisley, was fantastic. He has incredible depth of knowledge of the local fauna and flora, and also still has immense excitement for everything he sees. We enjoyed amazing sightings at Amanzi, including swimming lions, small lion cubs, and leopards, leopards, leopards! Elephants were a little scarce during our time there (and nowhere in Zambia has elephant herds like you find in Zimbabwe and Botswana) just due to the weather. Solly, Prisely, and all of the staff did everything they could to make us happy and comfortable, and were especially gracious when one of the boys wasn't feeling well for a day. The wonderful fishing guides also indulged their determination to catch a tiger fish, and even made it happen! It was a moment the kids will never forget. I should also add that I have a severe food allergy and the chef and kitchen staff did an incredible job accommodating that. Amanzi had the best food of this trip and compared to many other high-end safari lodges we have visited. I rarely wish to return to places I have visited (why go back when I can go somewhere new?), but I really hope to return to Amanzi. For those considering the family unit, it is huge and comfortable, but be aware that the two rooms are connected by a short (maybe 9 foot/3 meter long?) outdoor walkway (which you may cross day or night without a guide). Very young children or their parents may find this unnerving. Our 8- and 10-year old thought it was awesome, and we were happy to have the space from them, too.

This was one of our favorite safari camps. The accommodations were wonderful as were many of the camps. What made this so special were Milton and his wife Caroline. They both went out of their way to make sure we were well taken care of.

We traveled as a family of 6 to Zambia. Of the 4 camps we visited - Amanzi was our favorite. Really of the camps we have visited throughout Africa - Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Zambia, S Africa, Botswana - we would have to rank Amanzi in the top 2 or 3 camps. The tents and the views from the tents were amazing - at one point, we could see waterbuck, baboons, elephants, crocs, hippos, and cape buffalo all from our deck. Meals were all customized and incredible. The staff was amazing - excellent guide and managers - we had the camp to ourselves and loved the intimate nature of the camp. The game viewing was incredible - leopards chased up a tree by baboons, lion cubs, lion kill, leopards mating, tons of giant bull elephants, buffalo herds. Our sunset cruise on the Zambezi was gorgeous.

We stayed at the Amanzi Camp for four wonderful nights. It’s a very private camp with only four rooms and Milton and his team fulfilled all our wishes. They have a variety of activities, like Game Drives, Sunset Cruises and canoeing tours on the Zambezi. The food is very good and everybody takes care of one‘s desires. If you’re looking for a breathtaking safari experience, we warmly recommend the Amanzi Camp!

We spent four nights at the Amanzi Camp, It is probably the only camp where have said wow on entering the room, it was very very spacious with great views over the river, with your own private deck with two hammocks, table and chairs. The beds were very comfortable, there was a large sitting area with a mini bar. Having a hair dryer was a refreshing change. There was a large shower with lots of hot water. The camp had a very nice dining area and bar and we did make use of the swimming pool. The food we had was of a very high standard but served to individual tables, which meant that there was not a lot of interaction between the guests. We occasionally like to dine alone but generally prefer a communal table. The staff were friendly and attentive. The highlight of the trip was the boat ride down the river spending time with a huge herd of elephants feeding in the bullrushes, as well as hippos and crocs. On the game drives we saw lions, leopards, baboons, buffalo, elephant, hippo, and many more. On the night drives we saw lions, porcupine, civet etc. After the drive the jeep pulled up level with the walk way which meant there was no clambering in or out of the jeep, in any event the vehicles were easy accessible and very comfortable but photographers please note that bean bags or camera rests are not supplied.
