We had a great time as a group of friends. We booked a cottage but I preferred the ultimate experience of sleeping in a tent. Kiambi obliged. The self catering, air conditioned cottage was well stocked with utensils and toiletries. The bar on the banks of the Zambezi gave a breathtaking view throughout the day but especially at sunset.
The staff were always at hand in case we needed anything.

Spectacular..

Family of 9 with teens. Had the best time and just 2 1/2 hours from Lusaka it is really convenient.

The 8 sleeper Cottage was more than adequate and the airconditined rooms were clean and comfy.

Janine and her staff were very corteous and always ready to help. The boat coxswains were also knowledgeable of the river and knew most of the fishing spots, shout out to Mathias and Thomaon.

The CoVid19 measures was seriously being enforced and even if the camp was full everyone felt very safe.

Will definitely be back soon.

We visited the area for a friend's wedding which was happening at Kanyemba Lodge just down river. We decided to make a bit of a holiday of it and stayed 6 nights in total at Kiambi and we had a wonderful time! The safari tents were perfectly comfortable with all you could need, including a fridge which is vital in the Zambezi heat! The en suite bathroom had a well pressured shower with plenty of hot water.
The real highlight of our stay here was the team. From the ever cheerful manager Janine, and the barman Evans who never let us go thirsty, to the chefs and wait staff. We spent most days out fishing on a friend's boat and every day kiambi presented us with a food cooler box that was the envy of our group of 15 who were staying at various camps in the area. This cooler box for 2 people contained 4-5 toasted bacon egg and cheese sandwiches, a flask of juice, a flask of hot water, coffee, tea bags, milk, sugar, teacups, teaspoons. For lunch: roast chicken pieces or meatballs (about 15 pieces of each!), pasta salad, potato salad, bean salad, bread rolls, butter, plates, cutlery, salt, pepper, chilli sauce, tomato sauce, napkins, tablecloth, toothpicks.... Everything you could think of or possibly need, it was there, packed efficiently and with a smile, we once only told them at 9:30pm that we needed this for the next day and by 5:30am it was done.
The food in general at camp was simple but tasty and plentiful.
It was a lovely relaxed atmosphere at Kiambi with stunning views and a refreshing swimming pool. They even set up the rugby for my husband and soon what felt like the whole of the river were pitching up on boats to join the festivities! They also had plenty of snazzy and comfortable boats for fishing, sunset cruises and transfers.
A great time and a great experience, thanks Kiambi team x

We stayed in one of the houses for one night before going on a three day rivier safari organised by Kiambi. The houses are really simple, not very clean and overall a little rough. Good beds though.
The canoe safari with two nights in a tent was the experience of a lifetime. Amazing but also at times a little scary due to the many hippo, crocs and elephants. Our guide was great though and guided us through some pretty scary stretches were wildlife was VERY close. Food, tents and overall organisation of the safari was good - at night we could hear the hippos and elephants right outside our tents.
The paddling can be a little tough at times, so be sure to be in good shape - and paddling experience is needed.

Hello Helle, Thank you for your email and feedback on your experience at the lodge. We closed the lodge for 7 weeks in the off season to run through all options and i am happy to report that all aspects were looked at during this period, Cottages included. We have since re-thatched cottage one, gone through all the inventory and replaced the air-con units at cottage two. I have taken note of your cleaning observation and have taken this up with our team.We try to improve in anyways we can and appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve our product. The canoe safari is a really special activity that allows one to share in an amazing experience on the river. The Zambezi is very much about the river and the game is very much part of its charm. I am pleased to hear that you had a good trip on the river. Wishing you all the best for the new year and we hope to get a visit from you in the near future. Kind regards, KS

What an amazing trip to Lower Zambezi!

Staying at Kiambi was the perfect place. The team are so friendly from Timothy at the restaurant to Stuart on the boat for our fishing trip.

We stayed in the tented chalets over looking the river which had great views and everything was clean and tidy, great value for money.

We can’t wait to go back ☺️🙏🏼

My booking into Kiambi was pretty random but what a find! To get the full experience of the lower Zambezi I’d look no further. It has it all: easily accessible from Lusaka, direct exposure to the true wilderness of the mighty Zambezi, comfortable accommodation with a variety of options to suit one’s pocket, great food with excellent chefs who accommodate a number of dietary options (in my case, vegan); superb elevated views across and way up the river, attentive and friendly staff, excellent river and game guides and activities that include: sunset game drives by boat; fishing; transportation by boat to the world class Lower Zambezi Park for an inland game drive for superb game and bird viewing, excellent and attentive.
Right up there with one of my best ever wilderness experiences. Thank you to Janine and the rest of the management and staff.

This was the first stop of 4 in Zambia. We immediately felt at home and really enjoyed our stay. The food was excellent as was the bar! The staff were perfect both in the camp and on the river trips. The Zambezi was a lovely venue and the river trips were fantastic - even the canoe bit where my wife was very apprehensive but very quickly picked up her paddle and got stuck in. We saw crocodiles and hippos out of the water and many beautiful birds. In the Lower Zambezi Park we had some wonderful sightings - the highlight of which was a leopard retreating up a tree while 30 baboons sat on the ground making sure the leopard was out of the way for a sleep so they could settle down themselves. There was a lot of noise especially when 2 elephants joined in. We have done safaris before and this was right up there. Would go again.

There is no quiet peaceful place to spend your weekend than here. When you feel hot, there are swimming pools where you can take a deep to cool off. Excellent customer service, comfortable rooms, hospitable, clean environment.

The accommodation was incredible! Best View in the house (chalets 5 and 6) we were two couples and everything it was incredible. All the activities provided by the lodge were incredible and we had some incredible time over here! All stuff is amazing providing all the help they can for you to feel comfortable.
Visiting the village near by offers you a great experience of the raw African life.
Do not let the river unexplored - it will amaze you every second!

During our holiday in Zambia we’ve stayed for four nights in the lodge The location of the lodge is directly at the Zambezi river with a beautiful view down to the river. It’s a quiet and safe place. Even the lodge is an older one, everything was very clean and comfortable. The food was delicious. All of the employees and guides were very nice. Our trips on the river and to the national park were fantastic. Thanks a lot to the staff for an unforgettable stay.
