What a wonderful lodge. Again we were the only guests in camp and we were spoiled. One night after the game drive, I saw lights on in the middle of the bush and wondered what was going on, then I saw all the tables and chairs and realised that we were having dinner in the middle of the bush. Next morning, I was advised to wear flip flops or sandals and we were taken out on a boat and soon came across gazebos on a sandbank in the middle of the Zambezi river which is where breakfast was being served, thankfully, no crocs joined us for breakfast.
Staff were marvellous, especially Arnold in the lodge and Patrick, our guide who was really handy with his machete to lop off overhanging branches as well as being a really good guide.
The room was beautiful as well as being large with all of the facilities that we needed . We have been travelling in Africa for about 12 years now and can honestly sat that this camp is one of our all time favourites and the food and cups of tea were to die for.
My other big passion is fishing and we were taken out on the river to fish for Tiger fish. This is where I had a problem. My wife who does not like fishing at all caught more Tiger fish than me but to make it worse, she also caught the largest. Beginners luck obviously.
Very few Tsetses here but instead we had to put up with tiny little flies that came out in force at night and gave irritating bites but nothing could take away our enjoyment of this beautiful place.

I'm not sure if words can express our gratitude to the Sausage Tree team for creating this once in a lifetime experience for us, this may be a long review!
I'd had my eye on Sausage Tree Camp for a few years but my expectations were smashed through the roof. The rooms are just glorious, so beautifully designed with the highest quality furnishings and linen, and exquisite views from the deck and private plunge pool.
The team here are beyond wonderful - effortlessly cheerful with fabulous topnotch service. Our guide Collins was professional, knowledgeable, respectful of the park and wildlife and his passion ran deep; he even managed to help me snag a 14lb tiger fish on day 2 🐯🐟. Barman Brian, always with a smile on his face kept us well watered with good wine and G&Ts. Our butler Arnold deserves a crown, the kindest gentleman whose attentiveness was impeccable but he made it seem effortless. If I looked up from my plate to ask for something, he'd already thought of it and it was there in front of me. They had the perfect balance of ensuring you have everything you need but without being in your face.
We had the special treatment of a private dinner on our veranda and a candlelit bath drawn for us upon our return from our afternoon game drive; that and a decadent meal from the talented chefs topped off our day beautifully after having seen a leopard and her cub feeding just hours before. Thank you thank you thank you all for this exceptional and memorable time in our lives x

My adult son and I spent 4 nights at this extraordinary camp and it was amazing! Our cottage was beyond incredible with a living area, huge bedroom and bath. The patio was gorgeous with a large private pool and right on the river bank with awesome views! Phillip was our Butler and woke us each morning with coffee and tea, kept the rooms perfect and served us meals in the main camp lounge. It was our 3rd stop on this trip and this time another couple of ladies flew into camp with us. You can tell covid has really made it's mark on the traveler scene however all the camp personnel took the time to get to know you. We saw tons on the game drives, elephants popping out of the bush right in front of your truck, leopards, zebra and buffalo to say nothing of the hippos! Collins was our guide and did an amazing job! This camp also has lots of surprises with I will not spoil!

After a long delay and with much anticipation, I returned to Sausage Tree. This was my 3rd visit after 2017 and 2019. I was once again amazed that I was meeting the same friends for the 3rd time, Henry, Chris and Mike! That's absolutely awesome. And they are only getting better and better each time. Henry picked me up with a chilled Mosi and Amarula-flavoured Coffee as I liked it 2 and 4 years ago. We then enjoyed a private session with a rock python devouring a mongoose for a good one hour. What a start! The Zambezi carried unusually high water so the canoe tour turned into an absolute thriller with elephants and hippos. Man, that's cooler than any NatGeo on TV. During siesta time I enjoyed my favourite infinity pool, watching elephants wandering through camp or hippos grazing on land opposite the pool. I enjoyed Chris' impeccable butler service. His memory is equally amazing. Mike kept me hydrated at all times. Thanks man, good stuff you have in your little bar. Meals were amazing, they must be serving the best croissants in the country. Wished I stayed a few nights longer but now I have a good reason to come back again.

Sausage Tree Camp at the Lower Zambezi is one of the most wonderful places in the world. Situated on the banks of the Zambezi, you get an idea of wilderness and seclusion that is really unique. Elephants visit the Camp every day, during enjoying your meals hippos and crocodiles can be watched. The tents are luxurious and leave nothing to be desired. From the large veranda (with plunge pool) you have a breathtaking view over the Zambezi. All Safari activities (we tried out Gamedrives, Canoeing, a boat cruise and a Bush Walk) are of outstanding guiding quality, many thanks to Joseph, who showed us all the wonders of the Lower Zambezi.
We enjoyed excellent meals, including a lunch on a sandbank in the Zambezi and a bush dinner, thank you to all the chefs, you do an amazing job.
As one of the few camps Sausage Tree offers a muchinda (private butler), Arnold, thank you for erverything (especially the laundry service).
Staff is extraordinary friendly, from Martin (general manager) over Chile (camp manager) until all helping hands that make this camp so unique! Thank you so much for these wonderful days we´ll never forget!
We left with tears in our eyes and do hope to come back some day!
Best wishes from
Barbara & Gerd from Austria

This was our first time in Zambia and at Sausage Tree, and it was wonderful. Charles, the Mgr., and his warm welcoming staff made our 50th Anniversary celebration a very exceptional experience, with their numerous surprise meal presentations. Being on the river was great for animal viewing and for nightly hippo serenades. The main lodge and "tent" chalets were very comfortable and exhibited African bush luxury at its finest. Our guide, Henry, was excellent in finding the wildlife that makes Africa so unique and special. After our 4 day sojourn, we felt we were part of the Sausage Tree family. Don't miss this camp and it's unique environs.

What a lovely camp located in a game rich area in Lower Zambezi. Every room has a spacious deck and private plunge pool overlooking the Zambezi River, elephants would often cross the river right in front of the camp.

On gamd drives we had an amazing leopard sighting on arrival and couple of wild dog sightings as well. We also love the boating experience which you can see the elephants and hippos up close along the river.

The lunch on Zambezi sand bank was unforgettable! Thanks a lot to the Sausage Tree team for offering us an amazing 2 nights stay!

Top notch all around from pickup at the Jeki airport thru return there for departure. Among a multitude of African park lodges experienced to date across East and southern Africa this is simply THE best. The lodge and location are wows! Add the genuinely warm and hard working team which in its entirety is oriented around making the Sausage Tree Camp a very special place and they do! The food choices are excellent, diverse and plentiful. Add game drives replete with high density of some species and all added up I depart with extraordinary memories from this very special slice of the African continent.

Sausage Tree was the first of 3
lodges we were to visit in Zambia
and the first of 6 lodges during
our month long African adventure.
To say they set a very high bar is
an understatement. We were met
at the airport by Henry who would
be our guide during our 5 night
stay. We got "acquainted" during
the drive and boat ride to the
lodge. Every staff member was
wonderful. GM Martin (tx for the
scotch) and associate Charles; guide
Henry (multiple flat tires but many
wonderful hours of animal sightings
by jeep, by boat and on foot; our
butler Arnold who was perfect in all
roles; barman Brian who kept our
glasses full of our favorite drinks
and Chile, who always had time to
chat with Linda. We enjoyed and
greatly appreciated the various
special activities (lunch on the
Zambezi). Highly recommended.

Plush Posh Pretty place, location is outstanding. Having spent many times in several African game lodges across several countries, this was by far the best in service. on arrival a wonderful awaits as we arrived by boat from up Kafue River down the Zambezi to Sausage tree. our private lodge was so well laid out with private plunge pool on the terrace. wake up to elephants walking past your door. do the game drive morning or evening or both. Fab staff lots of local knowledge on the wildlife. take lunch on the Zambezi, or indeed in the Zambezi.
