my husband and I stayed here at Potato for 4 nights and we are very happy to have chosen this camp fo our holiday in Lower Zambesi after spending a week in South Luagnwa .
Lower Zambesi NP is a really beautiful park which offers very different scenarios ;
The camp has a stunning position overlooking the river : the tent is very big , rustic but with anything you need and with an authentic bush feeling ; outside, the small pool , the hammock and the two chairs are very relaxing .
The overall atmosphere is lovely : we had visits from elephants just outside the tents and and the hippos at night were a very nice company .
Being inside the NP is a great advantage because you can reach far areas and you don’t waist time crossing the river .
We loved the wake up call with hot coffe in the room brought by our “butler” Ashifu and the lunch in the Zambesi ( feet into the water) was amazing !
All the staff was lovely and friendly : Faith was really caring and Ashifu, our butler: attentive , warm , gentle.
Here you have private game drives which we appreciated a lot . Our guide was Never , really good and eager to show wildlife and share information about it.
As I am not that brave , he was very caring and reassuring and I appreciated his patience …
With Never we had our most incredible experience : the attack of two lionesses to a big male buffalo : this has been the first time for us to see such a “show”: it was like being a documentary and we were happy that after 5 minutes fighting the buffalo got rid of the the predators : but everything was incredible and we will remember it for ever .

A part from it, game viewing was excellent during the day as well as night we saw leopards, hyenas, plenty of elephants , a herd of 300-400 buffalos and many other animals .
We also liked the boat cruise at sunset and I am very sorry we couldn’t go canoeing because of my fear…
last but not least there are very few cars in the area which is great .

We visited Potato Bush Camp in May 2023 and enjoyed our visit. The location is top-notch with the Zambezi river flowing past the camp (however, hippo calls can be raucous, including during the night). The staff do their absolute best to please guests at all times, and the service they deliver is a real pleasure. Our butler (Philip) was eager to help in any way possible and did a fantastic job. The food served in the camp is good and you will not go hungry. Thirst won’t be a problem either. I think all of our party put on a couple of kilos during our four days. Not everything is perfect. Some won’t like the tent accommodation because of the bugs (and frogs) that get in. Some won’t like the limited internet access. And some probably won’t like the bumpy roads that you go over during game drives. But these are small items that really don’t take away from the pleasure available from staying at Potato Bush Camp. Finally, we had a tremendous guide in James Duncan-Anderson from Wild N’ Beyond Safaris. The breadth of knowledge and insight James shared with us was just incredible and made a real difference to our experience.

What a pleasure it was to discover Potato Bush Camp and see a huge variety of wildlife at close quarters both on the water and inland. The knowledge and tuition imparted by the Guides is second to none. The food, the service and the opportunity to meet others there but still have our own personal guide distinguished highly from the other camps we visited. We are keen photographers, and our guide did all he could to facilitate us being able to take good shots without disturbing the animals. We were so grateful to all the staff who looked after us, including the manager Fay. Thanks to everyone.

Having been fortunate enough to visit many safari lodges throughout Africa I have to say that Potato Bush is absolutely one of my best.
Potato Bush offers everything a first timer or frequent safari traveler could wish for.
It is a small camp so you get all the personal attention you may wish for.
The rooms are outstanding. Very spacious with your own veranda, plunge pool, hammock and stunning river views. Beds are luxurious with crisp linen. Bath, twin showers with piping hot water.
The food was excellent and they are flexible to your dietary requirements.
The game drive guide George was a fountain of knowledge. Having lived and worked in the Lower Zambezi his whole life he was extremely knowledgeable.
Fishing in that part of the river never disappoints, great size tiger fish to be caught.
Charles and his team are excellent and sure know how to make your safari experience a one in a million.
All in all Potato Bush must be right up there on your wish list for your next visit to the Lower Zambezi.

It was am amazing experience from the moment we were collected at Jeki airport to our reluctant departure. Thank you All.

Wonderful camp with perfect balance of comfort to authenticity. This was our second trip to Zambia because we loved the people and safari experience, but our first to Potato Bush. We are considering a family return trip for my husband's 80th--something for everyone: drives, walks, boat, fishing, canoe, or simply relaxing!

Fantástic camp, with very beautifull safaritents, located with a great view at the Zambezi river.
The staff was very friendly and helpfull, trying to make you feel at home as much as possible, and they succeeded!! Allways friendly and with lots of surprises during our stay. The food was great and served with a smile, every time. Great service!
We really, really enyoyed the game drives, saw many, many rare animals (leopards, wild dogs!) had a great time and lots of laughs with Henry, the best guide ever.
If we would ever get the chance to return to Zambia, we would definately go back to Potatoe Bush camp!

This was our first camp for the start of our adventure in Zambia, & it certainly didn't disappoint. The guide Collins that we had was amazing & so was all the rest of the staff. They kept us fed with amazing meals from the chef & hydrated with the amazing bartender. We wouldn't hesitate to go back. The only issue would be that we would go back earlier in July or August rather then Sept just because of the heat.

My 16 year old son and I were blown away by our experience at Potato Bush Camp. We loved every moment of it. It truly felt as a home away from home. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough. A memory to be cherished always. We miss our Potato Bush Camp family!
