Friendly, family bush camp with reed and thatch chalets which are super comfortable. Outdoor showers with excellent pressure and temperature. Loved the added tree frog that appear from nowhere! Spacious area so feeling of privacy and lovely views, including a hide for game viewing. Great food and bar and hospitality first class. Excellent management team and staff. Be prepared to meet an elephant around the camp. Guiding is brilliant and game viewing was superb.

Our unforgettable visit to Tafika Camp in South Luangwa, part of a fam trip in October, provided a truly authentic and wild African safari experience. As one of the two family-run camps we explored, Tafika, under the thoughtful management of Jen and her family, exuded a special charm that set it apart. Our stay was expertly guided by the remarkable Billy, who seamlessly balanced the diverse needs of our group. From catering to the three big game lovers In our group or 4 to indulging the birding enthusiast (me) keen on identifying the numerous bird species, Billy's expertise added a layer of depth to our safari adventure. What makes Tafika even more extraordinary is its other notable camps that they own, including Mwaleshi a walking only camp and Takwela game drive and walking safari camp both in the wild North Luangwa .This interconnected network of these camps and the others they own (yes there are more :) ) showcases a commitment to offering unique and diverse safari experiences across both North and South Luangwa. Tafika's intimate setting, nestled in the South Luangwa wilderness, allowed us to immerse ourselves in the untamed beauty of Africa. The family's dedication to preserving the natural essence of the area was evident in every detail, from the cozy accommodations to the delectable meals that celebrated local flavors. Our night at Tafika was not just a stay; it was a journey into the heart of South Lauangwa's wild authenticity. The memories crafted under the guidance of Billy and the Tafika team will forever remain etched in our minds. For those seeking a genuine safari adventure, Tafika Camp stands as a beacon of the untamed, and we are grateful for the opportunity to have experienced its magic.

This was our second lodge in Zambia. The first was good but this was even better. A beautiful setting, wonderful lodge with good food and lovely, friendly staff including the owners who were great company. The lodge overlooks the river with hippos 🦛 and crocodiles . On the land side there are elephants grazing and the hide gives you a very intimate viewing of wildlife. The safaris themselves are fantastic, with genuinely expert hides. Will definitely be back. Experience of a lifetime.

This is a great camp. You fell like you are part of the family. There is a very relaxed atmosphere, with breakfast looking over the Luangwa river and the hippos. Our guide Lloyd was great, very knowledgeable and had some great stories. This was our first experience and it did not disappoint. We visited the local school, who put on an amazing performance for us. Tamika is a great camp especially if you are first time doing safari.

2 Visits in One Review - Excellent both times, though we missed Chikoko this time. An all too brief Visit, but delightful none the less. The Hide is a great addition. Wild Dogs, Lion pride hunting, Leopards galore, Elephants in Camp, and then some I'll spare the blushes of named Individuals - you know who you are - so hope a heart felt 'Thank You' will suffice.

This was our 2nd visit to Tafika Canp and part of my 26th trip to Africa. We enjoyed 6 amazing nights at Tafika. Every aspect is 5 stars. Our excellent guide Lloyd is also a highly respected village leader. We learned a lot about local customs and daily life during our time with Lloyd. The wildlife was excellent. We caught the tail end of a serious wild dog versus lion confrontation. The lions killed a dog and critically injured a second dog. The dogs hung around a second night likely in hopes that the injured dog would rejoin the pack. Sadly the injured dog died 3 days later. We did see the pups and some great interaction. We also tried to follow the dogs on a hunt but we lost them in the mop and forest. We saw the famous leopard “Olimba” twice. We were fortunate to have spent time with her in 2016. We saw her after she had killed Puku mid day. The hyenas were gathering to steal the kill as dusk approached. It was an amazing sighting. We watched lions hunt into the darkness one night. Our specialist guide, Nic Polenakis, had a night vision scope and was able to share the “play by play” of the hunt in real time. We were literally sitting in the dark surrounded by a hunting pride of lions. Great experience! The camp is fantastic. Great food. Great bar. Truly heartfelt hospitality from the Coppinger family and their excellent management team featuring Heather and Vel. Great hippo choruses at night. Most nights featured lions calling in the distance. Magical place. Highly recommended- I’m ready to go back! Michael Maloon

Most amazing trip to Tafika. The grass is still thick so game viewing wasn't the most fruitful we've had in the Luangwa, but the team made our stay special in other ways. Great birding and attention to detail. Excellent food and in camp service.

Tafika is a small camp located on a beautiful bend of the Luangwa river, accessed by vehicle over a two hour bumpy drive from Mfuwe airport. I really had the feel of going to a remote less travelled spot which was what we were seeking. Accommodations are six rustic thatch but large comfortable chalets. Open air at the top lets a steady breeze through especially in the warm day time hours. Mosquito nets cover the large beds at night and do an excellent job of keeping out any bugs that may fly about. Lots of hot water in the outdoor shower and clean drinking water is supplied. Daily laundry service is available and we really appreciated it. Hearty meals served communally at lunch and evening although my favourite was a hot cup of tea with a delicious breakfast while watching the sun rise over the river. Wi-Fi is available sporadically at one corner of the camp, which should be good for emails but don’t expect to stream videos (why would you want to do that when you’re surrounded by so much natural beauty?)The focus at Tafika is on its safaris which are among the best, if not the best, of all my African travels over the years. Our guides were very knowledgeable and provided a very personal experience. The variety of wildlife is extensive and we had many unforgettable experiences, including a great walking safari, accompanied by an armed ranger. Staff are very friendly and look after guests very well. John and Carol are excellent hosts, and they provide an outstanding enjoyable safari experience. Tafika is a great choice to get close to wild Africa while still being comfortable and relaxed.

This was our second stop on a month long safari trip, and even after many other great experiences on the trip our stay at Tafika stood out for the excellent, experienced guides, the rich environment and the warm, welcoming atmosphere at camp. We were there at the end of the dry season -- the weather was quite hot -- but the lodge owners and staff made sure we were all safe, comfortable and happy, and we had an extraordinary time out in the bush with the animals. Hope to go back someday!
