We went to Lion Camp on the recommendation of a few friends. We were so pleased with our 3-day stay there. The lodge is about 1.5 hours into South Luangwa National Park, which makes the location more remote for game viewing. Unlike the lodges more toward the main gate, we saw fewer safari vehicles on our game drives and plenty of wild animals. The staff was wonderful, under the management of Wayne and Vicky. You could see that they all loved working together and enjoyed spending time with the guests. In the few days we were there, we felt so at home and so well looked after. On top of the fantastic rooms (with cool aircon systems) and beautiful common spaces, the food was top notch. Stay at Lion Camp if you want a unique and amazing safari experience.
Lion Camp in South Luangwa has long been a dream destination but a s a photographer I had the amazing job to be paid to go and shoot there. The staff where exceptionally kind and knowledgeable. The wildlife sightings where the best I have ever had! I can not recommend it enough. Go go go!!!!
This was my 8th photo safari to Africa and first to Zambia. I couldn't imagine any camp would rival experiences like Giraffe Manor or Sirikoi but Lion Camp did. The vibe upon arrival in the main reception/bar/common area sets the stage perfectly. The tents and their balconies overlooking the marsh and grazing game are amazing. I hate wasting time sleeping when there is so much to see and do on game drives but the beds and bedding are over the top awesome. You will sleep like royalty. Although it is hard to divert attention from raving about the the great camp atmosphere and exquisite cuisine and dining experience, it is the people of Lion Camp that make the difference. Wayne, Vicky the guides and other staff are among the best in the business. Our game drive experiences were beyond amazing and memorable. I am attaching a few photos to show the rewards of their dedicated work. The staff also have a thoughtful commitment to conservation and working in concert with the surrounding communities. In closing... thanks to Lion Camp for such a memorable safari experience and thanks to its owners for maintaining a commitment to this purposeful place.…
We love Africa but this was our first time to Zambia. My husband and I have visited many great Safari camps but Lion Camp stands alone as being exceptional! Wayne and Vicky were such caring hosts who looked after every detail and made us feel like we were family. What a special place! The meals were incredible considering we were in the bush - beautifully presented, healthy and comforting. Our guide Innocence found so much wildlife that every trip held so many magic moments that we will forever cherish. Sitting on our deck on a very dark African night with the Southern Cross and Milky Way sparkling like diamonds above us, sipping our port and listening to a Hyena calling and planning our next trip to Zambia and Lion Camp - this is one of our magical moments. Thank you Wayne and Vicky, and Lion Camp team for everything - we appreciate all the laughs we had around the campfire. We left with smiles on our faces and tears in our eyes.…
Just like Mama G. stated, this place is amazing! Worth the price and the travel to get there! Vicky is so talented in the kitchen, the food was the very best I have ever eaten. The entire staff along with Wayne and Innocent go out of their way to make sure this is everyone's trip of a lifetime!. The hut was a dream! The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The drives left me speechless! The animals were incredible to see! Did I mention the stars? Thank you Wayne, Vicky, Innocent, Oscar and all the rest! We will be back bringing others with us!
