Everything about Thornicroft exceeded our expectations. The lodge is beautiful and extremely well maintained, the staff are so friendly and can’t do enough to make sure that you have everything you want and need, the food was delicious, everything freshly prepared around your dietary preferences, and the guides who do the Safari guides are world class!! We were here in the wet season and our game drives were incredible with lion encounters we will remember forever. South laungwa is a truly magical place and the manage and staff have managed to enhance the experience!!

The lodge is unreal in its beauty. It’s situated right on the river and you enjoy your coffee while watching the elephants cross.

The service is unmatched and anything you can think of, they can make happen. When the airport lost our luggage, they took the report from us and directly coordinated with the airports on our behalf and returned our luggage to us.

While returning from safari we saw a store that interested us and it was no problem to stop. When the elephants were crossing the river the staff set up seating on the bank so we had a clear view and then brought us cocktails for sundown. They ensure that every guest has the experience of a lifetime.

The showers are hot, the water pressure is excellent, the rooms are spotless and regularly cleaned while guests are at meals. Our friends stayed at another lodge and paid much more than we did, but from comparing notes we had the better accommodations.

The food is excellent. The bread is baked fresh each day and between the meals and teas and before safari snacks, we were well fed. The produce in Zambia is more flavorful than in the US and I kept asking about which seasoning was used in different things to recreate the things I was tasting, only to discover it’s the actual produce that’s different. There’s these deep umami flavors in the vegetables here that make me feel like every vegetable I had previously was just a poor imitation.

This is the trip of a lifetime and it blew away even my wildest expectations.

I was at the lodge two days with friends. The staff is professional and always attentive to customer needs. The lodge has well-organized outdoor spaces with river views and spacious rooms. I get a Resident Bush style chalet with meals included and 2 game drives. Our guide, Mr Matthew was fantastic!

An absolutely beautiful property along the Luangwa river where we could see so many animals just across our deck- we didnt even have to go to the park to enjoy the safari parade.
Though the safari drive made it all the more exciting as our guide was fun and knowledgeable.. Our rooms were rustic, cozy and we were visited by hippos in the night eating right outside our window.
We had great food- Indian curries as well as some international and local foods. We were always hungry and the food was delicious.
Our host Eli was very friendly and we were welcomed and sent home Zambian style. Very appreciated.

We stayed 4 nights. The rooms are spacious with very comfortable beds. The staff are absolutely amazing. They pampered us the entire stay. The food was amazing. We had a gluten free person and a vegetarian person and they accommodated us. There is a small bar at the lodge. They also assisted us with daily excursions. We took daily and sometimes morning and evening safaris. This meant we saw ALL the animals. The staff also took us shopping. I would recommend this place over and over!

I didn't like the room I was taken to at first, when I lodged my discomfort, I was taken to a comfortable room which I appreciate for listening to my concern and the swift action. The hospitality was top notch with very friendly people. The other thing which I didn't like is the preparation of the food. The lodge need to invest in the chef. Regards.

My husband and I had a great time at Thornicroft Lodge, we went on the Christmas Special as we just wanted a lot of time to relax. Our chalet, Giraffe, was spacious with a large bathroom. The best shower ever! strong pressure and endless hot water. Comfortable bed with luxurious linen, and very soft fluffy pillows. I really liked the fact that I had a kettle in the room as I am a coffee addict. I cannot stress enough how cheerful, friendly and helpful all the staff were; they even went out of their way to help with unorthodox requests. We were really given V.I.P. treatment. The food was great, a bit too much for my husband and myself, I feel as if I have gained 5 kilos in just four days! We went on two game drives through the National Park and our guide was extremely knowledgeable about everything, from the history of certain areas, to the fauna and flora; we were able to take some fantastic photos of the various animals we saw. Thornicroft has a very unusual splash pool as it is in the shape of Zambia, so my husband and I had great fun trying to figure out where neighboring countries would be situated.
All in all, we had a very relaxing time and were sorry to leave. We would definitely go back again in the future.

We hosted a 8-day workshop at Thornicroft Lodge for 20 people. Terrific staff - very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and the grounds are beautiful, right on the river so you can watch hippos, warthogs, and fish eagles from the bar!
