A true original at the heart of the Plains Busanga Bush Camp lies in the heart of the Busanga Plains, a vast mosaic of expansive grassy seasonal floodplains that extend to the horizon. When the mist rises off the floodplains as they dry up in winter, incredible sunrises and sunsets are experienced here, while the floodplains and dambos teem with wildlife and birds. Hidden on a tree-island of sycamore fig trees, the camp has four well-appointed en-suite tents each with a veranda to take in the sweeping views. The lounge and bar area is under canvas with an uninterrupted view out over the plains. A little further back is the dining area, shaded by the canopy of a majestic tree from which an unusual lantern chandelier hangs, romantically lighting up dinner; most meals are served in the open air.

Incredible spot in the wild!! Busanga Bushcamp is such stunning setting to sit and watch the wildlife cruise by on the open floodplain...The luxury safari tents are rustic and classy, with great views of the open plains. The Wilderness vehicles are top of the range, well thought

Dear MalawiMike2014, Busanga Bush Camp lies on a verdant island in the heart of the Kafue’s Busanga Plains, a vast mosaic of expansive grassy seasonal floodplains that extend to the horizon. When the mist rises off the floodplains as they dry up in winter, incredible sunrises and sunsets are experienced here, while the floodplains and dambos teem with wildlife and birds. Indeed – due the remoteness and shortened tourism season here – our presence has become critical for the survival of this fragile and extraordinary eco-system. We are delighted to see you enjoyed everything about your time with us and hope you were able to get some great photos during your hot air balloon flight. Bush regards Wilderness Safaris

We had a great stay for 5 days here in July 2017. The dry season was late and the access required a short water crossing. The camp is beautiful , sitting with view across the plains , eating breakfast with the sun rising , highlighting the many animals crossing the plains. The

Dear Charles, Thank you for your wonderful review, we will be sure to pass along your kind words to all our staff in camp. We are glad to see that despite the initial disappointment of limited game viewing due to the late start of the season you still enjoyed your stay with us. As the floodplains dry out more and more game is attracted from the surrounding woodlands, however, the bird life is spectacular all season. The park boasts 491 species (including as the endemic Chaplin's barbet) and we are delighted to see how many new ones your wife was able to encounter during your time with us. Thank you again Wilderness Safaris

I travelled over the world but this was the first time I didnt want to leave. I tried to think why this wonderful place made such an impact on me. Maybe it was the combination of so many experiences, from the camp manager Mcray and his wonderful staff, our experienced guide,

Stayed here for 3 nights and the facilities and staff are great. Food was very good. Guides are excellent. While we saw two male lions the other wildlife viewing was on the scarce side except for the hippo pool. Bird viewing was good but I am not a birder. Stayed at 4 other

Hello, Thank you for your query, Mornings in September can be cool so it is best to wear layers and only bush coloured clothing. For a more detailed break down your travel agent should have a copy of the Wilderness Safaris Suggested Packing List for Zambia. This will give you all the information you need and more. Thank you Wilderness Safaris

Gibt es Probleme mit Tse-Tse Fliegen im Camp?
Thank you Uwe306,for contacting us. You will be happy to know there are no Tsetse flies in camp or on the plains. We have had some around the tree lines and airstrip while out on game drives, however, this is very few and there are several precautions you can take to ward them off.Generally brushing the flies off your body once they have landed there is enough to prevent getting bitten. Wherever possible any areas known to have a high density of flies is avoided by guides. Most important though, is to wear the correct clothing to avoid attracting tsetse flies. Dark coloured clothing is generally more attractive to tsetse flies since the majority of their host species are dark coloured large mammals such as buffalo. Wearing long-sleeved neutral coloured clothing is probably the best approach. It is possible for the flies to bite through light clothing and some people do wear heavy fabrics to avoid this. If, however you do get bitten, (which is very rare with almost no chance of infection of any disease) tsetse bites can be treated by simply applying an antihistamine cream to the bite area. This will ease the itch which is commonly associated with insect bites of this nature. Allergic reactions are not at all common and should this occur, it can be treated with any of the antihistamine tablets available off the shelf and kept in our camps/lodges and vehicles. We hope this answers your question as well as any concerns you may have had. Thank you again, Wilderness Safaris
