I quite enjoyed the three nights that I spent at Nanzhila Plains Camp. The wildlife sightings that I had were quite memorable. I even saw a lioness playing with her three cubs. Cindy and Steve were good hosts. My tent was comfortable. The food was also good. The only reason that I don't give Nanzhila Plains five points was the fact that the tsetse flies were just awful. They were so horrible that on the third day of my camp, Steve the coowner of the lodge had to drive me in his own vehicle which meant that all the windows could be closed. I wish that tsetse flies traps could be installed so that there would be less of a problem with flies. Unfortunately, Steve and his wife Cindy don't believe in them.
Nanzihla Camp was just perfect. Very comfortable and relaxed camp without any ostentatious design. Great location in the middle of nowhere with outlook onto a game rich pan. Staff and management were very pleasant, knowledgeable and happy to share their wealth of experience. We stayed in a thatched cottage (I did not visit their tented option). The cottages are well constructed and extremely comfortable. No generators no noise just the bush. Blissful. We had great game drives and saw some rare sightings - serval, and the blue cheeked lovebirds. Also lion. The only slight negative was the tsetse fly but these are not in camp and can be mitigated on the game drives by dressing up head to toe. Most guests find them a minor irritant. The Kafue Park has amazing potential. Lets hope the custodians allow it to realise this.…
We enjoyed three nights at this camp. Accommodation is comfortable with good food. Lovely to look out over the plains and watch the animals at the waterhole. Even though we were there at the end of the dry season we had lots of good game viewing including African painted dogs. Wonderful hospitality throughout our stay.
Run by Cindy and Steve, this gem of lodge sits on its own waterhole deep in the southern Kafue National Park. The communal lodge is beautifully designed and overlooks a waterhole that is alive with wildlife throughout the day. Food is miraculous given how remote the camp is and the staff are great. Particular note to Caesar and Bob our Guides for arranging a full blown lion hunt with cubs on our first outing. This followed by six cheetahs. Cottage is beautifully appointed. We will return.
We spent 2 enjoyable nights at Nanzhila in the Kafue National Park. The chalets were very comfortable and welcoming. Cindy and Steve are such friendly hosts who went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Unfortunately, due to lack of rain, the dam is almost dry but they pump water into it to keep the animals visiting. The lounge and dining area are tastefully decorated with the chalet built around a stunning Ebony tree! The meals were delicious and had great variety. One morning we were taken on a walking safari to see a different perspective of the wildlife habitats and behavior. On our last game drive, Bret guided us to a large herd of Eland and wilderbeast which was a definite highlight. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Nanzhila.
