It is like a fort!
Some people used the word castle, I think it is a fort. Whole thing reminded me of Sir Ivan’s mansion in NY
I got full board so I got course meal. Very very fancy, but meal itself is just OK.
Every little thing here is so cultural and amazing.

The venue is breathtaking. Service in general was okay, apart from waiting too long for our light lunches and them being out of stock when it came to drinks. Not sure whether they've catered for large groups before. Staff were helpful, polite and they were able to think on their

Overall, we were very impressed with this hotel. The dinner being included in the cost was a nice surprise that wasn’t clear beforehand. The hotel itself was a very unique building, and a great place to relax after spending the cooler hours of the day exploring the fantastic sigh

Stayed here for a couple nights on our voyage through Namibia. Hotel grounds are really nice, location is convenient to Sossusvlei and the food was excellent.

It takes a while to get to the area as the roads are fairly rural. 4x4 would be highly recommended (our 4x4 pickup was p

Hi, do we need a 4x4 wheel drive to get to the hotel or is a regular car okay? We would like to do an organised tour when we get there. Thanks for your help...Jenny
A normal car is fine, but a 4x4 is more comfortable on the gravel roads. But plenty of guest arrive in normal cars. When visiting the Sossus park, a normal car will do as well. For the last kilometers to the dead vlei a 4x4 is required. You can park before the 4x4 section and take a shuttle to the dead vlei. When you go on a guided tour from le Mirage, they will take the own 4x4 jeeps and the guide will tell you more about the area. For the organized nature drives next to le Mirage, the lodge has their own Jeeps or quadbikes (=recommended). It is not possible to do this tour by own car.

Hi, what's the best way of travelling to Le Mirage from Windhoek if we don't want to self-drive?
Hi. There is a small airstrip just a few kilometers from the lodge. Small planes (like Cesna's) can land there. It's fast and a beautiful flight, but also a more expensive option (compared to self-drive). It is also possible to have a tour-gide drive you from Windhoek. For more information I would recommend contacting the booking office ResDest at or +264 61 224712. They can provide you with more information and prices.

Hi, FlossPortElizabeth. What would you like to know about this accommodation? Is this a malaria free area?
Hi. Yes, this is a Malaria free area. In Namibia, the Malaria area is only in the north.

Thanks for your review. I am curious how you reached the resort from Windhoek. Private car? Shuttle? Taxi? Any suggestions would be helpful Thanks Scott
Hi Scott. Most people visit le Mirage by car (rented). The road from Windhoek to le Mirage is a beautiful drive. You see the landscape changing all the time. It's also possible to go by a small plane (like a Cesna) and land on the nearby airstrip. A Shuttle service is possible, but most people make a tour though Namibia. So after le Mirage (and a trip to the Sossusvlei), they go though to for example the coast (Walvisbaai/Swakopmund).

Hi Maarten, We are staying in the hotel for two nights arriving the 20th of July. Any tips on local must do activities, do we need to pre-book anything? Regards Rene
Hi Rene, Great to hear you will be visiting le Mirage. If you've never been to the Sossusvlei, that's a must-do (as the highlight of the area). You can do it by self-drive, or by the lodge. I also recommend the quad tour. It's not like racing, but touring, and a unique way to discover the area. Normally, pre-booking is not required, but only for the quadbike I would recommend to still do it. For the the Sossusvlei trip, you normally leave at sunrise. And the quad trip is the best to do at sundown. Combining both on 1 day is possible, but can be quite exhausting. If you stay for two nights, I would recommend dividing it. So maybe the quad-bike the day you arrive, and the Sossusvlei drive the next day. P.s. I manage tripadvisor from another location then the lodge. For pre-bookings or more detailed questions, it's easiest to contact the lodge directly. I can't paste the contact details here, but you can find them on our website. Have a great trip and I look forward to reading about your experience on Tripadvisor!
