Nestling in a timeless valley is the Vingerklip Lodge on the 3000 ha Farm ¨Bertram". The unbelievable landscape was formed by an glacier more than 300 million years ago. Today we take pride in looking after the environment and conserving the natural beauty of the untouched nature . Either relax at either our sun-upper or sun-downer pool, spot the wildlife from Ingrids Blick or do one of our hikes. Alternatively you can explore the surrounding area by doing your own day-trips - just ask Reinhard for some tips. The 11 double unit thatched bungalows comprising 22 rooms with en suite bathrooms, air-conditioning and are individually furnished and equipped to satisfy all travelers requirements. Each unit has a private terrace to complete the atmosphere of relaxation and tranquility. Eight of the units offer loft accommodation for two children each.
We stayed at Vingerklip for one night on the way from Swakopmund to Etosha. We had a really lovely warm welcome from the lady on reception and cool towels and a cold drink which were very much appreciated after a long journey! Be warned the roads leading up to Vingerklip really aren’t great, although I’m not sure the hotel is responsible for this. The main lodge building is very nice and feels authentically African. Food in the main lodge was average, however experience in eagles nest was exceptional, unmatched sunset views of an incredible landscape surrounding the lodge and good food too. Pool was also lovely but some updated furniture is needed here. Sadly our room let Vingerklip down - tired mismatched furniture, the bathroom in particular was very tired, shower was not acceptable - mouldy and in dire need of refurb. No complimentary tea coffee or bottled water in the room and although this is available in the main lodge as our room was quite far from here these basic facilities in the room would have been nice. We appreciate that Vingerklip doesn’t market itself as a super luxurious lodge, but don’t feel that’s an excuse given we stayed at other locations in Namibia at a similar price where the rooms were much better. I think if rooms were updated, this place could be truly brilliant.…

This area is amazing - the scenery is stunning. A bit of a wind down from our recent boat trip and dune drive. We had a nice walk up to "the finger." We also made a reservation from the UK for the Eagles Nest restaurant. This was a truly magical experience. We also undertook one of the lodges expeditions to see some local roack paintings. The staff were lovely.

We were very confused by all the good reviews of this lodge as unfortunately it was easily the most disappointing of our trip. Our room felt tired and dated with bulky and mismatched furniture that made the room feel very small. There were lots of paint chips on the walls and furniture and our shower tap had not been properly attached and fell off. It was one of the only places we stayed where there wasn’t a mini fridge in the room (including lodges in equally remote locations). I gather from the lodge's replies to other reviews that they are in the process of updating the rooms, however ours had certainly not been updated. It would have been helpful to have some information provided in a booklet in our rooms (meal times etc) like all the other lodges we stayed in. On the plus side, the room had good air con, a safe and a nice terrace. The main lodge buildings were well designed with two pools and lots of sitting areas, however again they were very tired with mismatched lounger pillows that didn't fit properly, some with cigarette burns in them. There was an odd "fitness area" with exercise machines that clearly haven't worked in years. Everything just felt quite tired and listless. Dinner at the Eagle's Nest was fun and the food and service was excellent there. Food in the main lodge was good, but the service was listless and unfriendly at times. There was not a huge amount to see or do in the area past the walk to Vingerklip - if they manage to bring the lodge up to a higher standard it would potentially be worth a one night stay to break the journey to Etosha, but two nights are wasted here. Unfortunately this lodge has a lot of work to do to bring it up to the standard of other places we stayed on our trip, which charged a similar price.…

I am sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay with us. We are totally off-grid and therefore each electrical appliance is a zero sum game. We would definitely like to have mini-bar fridges and kettles in each room, but then we first need to expand our solar capacity - which will be done in time. I see from your other reviews that you have stay in some super-luxury establishments which are awesome, but you pay also a lot more. That however is not an excuse for paint chips and mismatching lounger pillows, I will ask our maintenance team to sort it out as soon as possible. Thank you for letting us know.

First visited 25 years ago, and it is still one of my favourite places to stay. It has grown, but the chalets are spread out nicely, ours with a view of a waterhole, with air conditioning and mosquito nets. There are lots of communal areas, including a place to watch the sunset and also Vingerklip itself. 2 pools and 2 restaurants, one called Eagles Nest and on top of a cliff with amazing views and food (cooked by the lovely Eve). Friendly staff and a lovely location. The food was also amazing. With current exchange rates, the prices are also a bargain

We had a lovely relaxing stay at Vingerklip. The setting is beautiful with far reaching vistas from most rooms. We had a two night stay travelling from Uis towards Etosha and didn't drive anywhere when we stayed there. We did the 5km circular walk around Vingerklip which was lovely and we spent some time relaxing around the pools. The sundowner drinks and dinner at the Eagels nest were great and in a beautiful setting. Best not to have a fear of heights climbing the steps though. Lovely stay.

A one-off & quirky Lodge, capitalising on a unique Rock formation in the middle of absolutely nowhere. Getting there - not easy, quality of Road, lack of decent comprehensible directions and the number of Farmers' Gates we had to open to get through. From Ongava to Outjo, & then we took C 39 (Westwards) then D2752, D2751, & D2743. The drive-out, heading for Spitzkoppe, proves almost as hazardous due to the recommended Route to avoid "vigilante farmers who regularly lock Gates on the Roads to impede traffic." Nice Grounds/Gardens with loads of Cactuses & Palms. Parking proves a nightmare with everyone driving to the bag drop, unloading, then abandoning their Car, without leaving their keys anywhere. No Access to The Lodge is possible. We park hundreds of yards away, then to or amazement face the same issue in the morning with grid lock prevailing. NO blame can be levelled at Baggage Handlers - not their fault. The 'Entitled' or 'Chosen Ones' win the Day Rooms scattered around the Main Building, on multiple levels off quite steep stone pathways (Able bodied ONLY). Nice Room, cosy, compact, comfortable, but decidedly cool - there was quite a biting wind so heating proved essential. Doors slammed repeatedly. Bar fine Restaurant Food was pretty mediocre & Service slow and casual. Breakfast was a joke. Griddle Chef appeared to have no idea how to cook Eggs (fried) & Bacon or an Omelette - swimming in tepid oil is not a good start. Had to settle for Coffee and Toast. WiFi is awful to almost non-existent. Why when you face Vingerklip opposite, and you have a huge Rock formation beside you as part of your Property, you cannot find an elevated Vantage Point for an discrete Aerial puzzles me. The Vingerklip rock itself is well worth a 20 minute walk to & round from the car park at its base. …

Hi, I sorry you had a poor experience but I am confused by your comment.Getting to us is very simple - drive on the tar road from Outjo to Khorixas, then at the when you see our sign turn off onto the big gravel road for 20km. No vigilante farmers... Also we don't have any palm trees. I suppose we cant satisfy everyone, and if you don't like accommodations in the middle of nowhere, Namibia as a travel destination might not have been the right choice.

We had a great two day stay here last week. The room was great and so were the breakfast and dinners. The staff were very helpful and they even sang and baked a birthday cake for my wife! The view and dinner at the Eagles nest restaurant is something special. Great walks on the property to get a good feel of the place.

Exceptional location at the foot of an imposing mountain. Mountain-top restaurant with breathtaking views. The entire hotel is powered by solar energy. :( The decor of the room doesn't match the place. It's a shame to have used such an ugly white wardrobe.

Thank you very much for the review. We are very conscious of our environment. Besides generating all of our own electricity with solar, we also buy as much local produce as possible and recycle most of our waste. Thank you for pointing out that the wardrobes should be renovated, I agree.

We needed to break our journey from swakopmund to Etosha. Kept looking at various places but once I found out about this lodge decided to spend a night here. The location is surreal. Staff are extremely helpful. We had dinner at the eagles nest which in itself is an adventure. One of the best lodges in terms of location during our travels
