The lake suites are beautiful and the view of the lake is very relaxing. It's only a pity that they don't have a single wheelchair adapted room which wouldn't mean so much of conversión work, as well as some ramps for having a free access to the restaurant terrace. The decoration is very nice, the whole retreat area is lovely and the personnel is very kind. Wifi-connection shouldn't be charged extra.

What a beautiful resort! The drive lined with bougainvilleas was a great introduction to this property. Our welcome was warm and check in very efficient. Lunch under a tree with a cool breeze was only the beginning of a wonderful stay. Our villa two bedroom room was clean, comfortable and sitting on the patio facing the beach and Lake Malawi was relaxing. There is much to do. Swimming in the beautiful pool, golf, snorkeling, visiting the fishing village, visiting Mua Mission and Kungoni Center of Culture and Art, Mangochi market and just relaxing. We were there three nights and loved every minute of it. It is owned by a family who has been there many years. Sandra, the matriarch, is the most amazing, energetic woman. Her attention to detail is incredible. Sandra dined with

If you are into beautiful, serene views of the lake. White beach sand adorned with palm trees 🌴 🏝 This is the place to visit. Not only are the views breathtaking but the people are also warm and friendly. Malawi 🇲🇼 is indeed a hidden gem of Africa. The hear of it too.

I take no pleasure in writing this review, but seeing as Makokola is expensive - very expensive - and deliver content far from being on par with their rates, I have to do this. We paid $450 per night and were so utterly disapponted. We have travelled extensively over southern Africa, and for this price or less have stayed at some incredible, out-of-this-world places to which Makokola is nothing in comparison. First impression was very nice though: a stylish lounge/reception area with a glimpse of the Lake behind. But that impression was shattered as soon as we had been escorted to our villa. Here we had two dark, grotty bedrooms. Bedclothes that you’d expect to find in a youth hostel dormitory. Mosquito nets with holes. No sitting area. The patio did have four chairs but no

Makokola is an asset of Malawi. It is not only an hotel but a meeting center, a place offering different opportunities for local people to work for the resort but also for everything is produced here, like textile and other handicraft. There is a small international airport too. Everything is mainly due to the efforts of the Italian Bizzaro family, since many years building and investing in Africa. The Italian taste could be perceived in many details. The structure lies on an enchanting bay dominating the lake on a clean and white shore. There are villas and chalets in a magnificent tropical park. The so called lake villas are wide and all furnished with African furniture and objects, they are a bit old but absolutely well kept. A set of new villas have been just open and they
