This is the sister hotel of the same Italian owner as Zahir Lodge. Th location is truly magic, and after all daily tourists leave at about 2.30 you have the luxury of being one of the only 16 people on the islands (there are eight bungalows). Obviously, this is in the middle of nowhere, so there is no hot water in the morning, and internet is poor, but who cares when you are in the paradise.
The main reason why we decided to stay in this hotel, it was to avoid Nosy be island, which it is supposed to be the party and crowded island. Furthermore, after 22 days traveling along Madagascar main island, with a crazy schedule and not a lot of rest, we only wanted a quiet place to stay some days before heading back home. The problem is that the proximity of the local village in the island to the hotel makes very difficult the sleep during all day. Firstly, in the village there are around 5-7 roosters which walk around the hotel bungalows during all day. They start start singing at around 3 am until night time (it is not only in the morning which makes impossible to sleep in the afternoon too), there are also a lot of noise from the village from their normal routine which you can clearly hear in your bungalow. Since we couldn’t sleep more than 4 hours the first night, We thought in going to sleep like at 10 to be able to sleep 5 hours at least, but there is also a generator extremely noisy which works until 22:30. Furthermore, our second night, we had the problem that on Saturdays there is a local disco which starts at around 22:00 until 4:00 am. Again we couldn’t sleep through all night. As soon as the disco stopped we had the roosters at our door singing. 1 or 2 roosters is ok, we experience it in all Madagascar, but there are at least 5 and there is not a single minute that they stop singing. Finally, we decided to leave the hotel one day before expected, because also the beach in front doesn’t have much snorkel. This means that even if you cannot sleep at night, morning or afternoon, there isn’t much to do there. Even trying to read a book calmly was difficult. Another comment that I would like to add, it is that one of the houses next to the hotel has lemur tight up against his will, the rope is so short that it stops him from being able to move at all. You can see how desperate the animal is by the way he moves. They aren’t getting any touristic profit from it but I don’t find the point to have such a wild animal suffering in this way. When we decided to leave, they didn’t even say anything about it. Not even sorry for the problems you have. Finally, there isn’t WiFi or hot water. There 2 things were not a problem for us at all, but not being able to sleep killed us and made us taking the decision to leave loosing an entire full board night paid, which the extra cost we had to pay to get a night in Nosy be. Thanks, Monica…
My husband and I spent 2 nights there. We chose Madagascar for our honeymoon and Iranja was indeed the cherry on the top of the cake. Because of reasons beyond our control, we missed the boat to go from Nosy Be to Nosy Iranja but luckily there was availability to stay at Zahir Nosy Be that night and make sure we didn't miss the boat the following day. Thanks to all the staff at le Zahir Nosy Be, very helpful they made our stay easy and nice. When we finally got to Iranja it was stunning, the trip wasn't much more than 1 hour and the "patron" was really nice and spotted some tortoises for us, and even a whale! The water despite stunningly blue wasn't as clear as expected but it won't prevent you from some snorkelling and spotting some fishies and even some tortoises if you're lucky. The sand is white in the two main beaches and golden in the third. The island is inhabited by fishermen whose wives set everyday an artscraft market. Everybody is nice and helpful, I wish I had taken some candy for the lovely children. Since it's a tiny island you cannot expect having the facilities we are used to in Europe but you have quite a few hours of electricity, clear and hot water, some WiFi, nice rooms with comfy beds with mosquito net...what else can you ask for? The staff at the Zahir Nosy Iranja was simply great, Isidoro greeted us at our arrival, he was nice and helpful and the waiters Natalien and Ibrahim really nice boys willing to show you what they know about the island. Special mention to Ibrahim, good worker and better person, thank you for everything!Misao Tra!! The food was delicious, and the portions just perfect. Natural and simply cooking is the healthiest and not for that less tasty! All the good words aren't enough to thank you for the unforgettable moments there♥️…
Italians and French know already it - that’s why I comment in English - an island where the time stopped - looks to be in paradise where you get best white sandy beaches and marvelous see to swim with turtles, surely not a 5 star place but nice basic secluded accommodations the unique in the island
My husband and I stayed here for two nights which was perfect. The rooms are clean, there are mosquito nets, there is power in the evenings, food at the restaurant is fresh and tasty. There is no wi-fi, but if you came all this way, why would you possible want to sit online???! The hotel is on the outskirts of a small village. Everyone's friendly, the occasional duck or chicken will come by to check you out. The beach is blindingly white and soft. Water is crystal clear. The change in the tides is beautiful to watch as one island becomes two with the high tide. Only surprise for me was that the snorkeling was not as good as I expected. Instead, we just enjoyed the swimming and R&R. If you travel to Nosy Be... you really are missing out if you don't spend one or two nights at Le Zahir de L'lle.…
a small, simple, cozy Lodge within a fishermans village in front of one of the most amazing beach I have ever seen. Excellent cook! He surprised us everyday with excellent dishes, I you are fond fish then you will love every suggestion. Rooms are simple but very comfortable and each of them right on the beach. You will feel like a spoiled Robinson Crusoe! Nosy Iranja is worth a stay.
